  • We can obtain SLLN's for fuzzy random variables with respect to the new metric $d_s$ on the space F(R) of fuzzy numbers in R. In this paper, we obtain a SLLN for convex tight random elements taking values in F(R).

  • A sensitivity analysis estimates the effect of the change in the uncertain variable parameter on the probability of the structural failure. A novel fuzzy random reliability sensitivity measure of the failure probability is proposed to consider the effect of the epistemic and aleatory uncertainties. The uncertainties of the engineering variables are modeled as fuzzy random variables. Fuzzy quantities are treated using the ${\lambda}$-cut approach. In fact, the fuzzy variables are transformed into the interval variables using the ${\lambda}$-cut approach. Genetic approach considers different possible combinations within the search domain (${\lambda}$-cut) and calculates the parameter sensitivities for each of the combinations.

  • In this paper, a general convergence theorem of fuzzy random variables is considered. Using this result, we can easily prove the recent result of Joo et al. (2001) and generalize the recent result of Kim(2000).

  • In this paper, we first obtain some characterizations of compact subsets of the space of level-wise continuous fuzzy numbers in R by the modulus of continuity. Using this, we establish the tightness for a sequence of level-wise continuous fuzzy random variables.

  • Recently, Wang et al. [Computers and Mathematics with Ap-plications 57 (2009) 1232-1248.] and Wang and Watada [Information Sci-ences 179 (2009) 4057-4069.] studied the renewal process and renewal reward process with fuzzy random inter-arrival times and rewards under the T-independence associated with any continuous Archimedean t-norm. But, their main results do not cover the classical theory of the random elementary renewal theorem and random renewal reward theorem when fuzzy random variables degenerate to random variables, and some given assumptions relate to the membership function of the fuzzy variable and the Archimedean t-norm of the results are restrictive. This paper improves the results of Wang and Watada and Wang et al. from a mathematical per-spective. We release some assumptions of the results of Wang and Watada and Wang et al. and completely generalize the classical stochastic renewal theorem and renewal rewards theorem.

  • To flexibly evaluate performance and reliability of a real-time system which is intrinsically characterized by stringent timing constraints to generate correct responses, we propose fuzzyrandom variables and build a discrete event model embedded with fuzzy-random variables. Also, we adapt fuzzy-variables to a path-space approach, which derives the upper and lower bounds of reliability by using a semi-Markov model that explicitly contains the deadline information. Consequently, we propose certain formulas of state automata properly transformed by fuzzy-random variables, and present numerical examples applying the formulas to RTP(Rapid Thermal Process) to show that a complex system can be properly evaluated based on this model by computer simulation.
