Hand Biometric Information Recognition System of Mobile Phone Image for Mobile Security (모바일 보안을 위한 모바일 폰 영상의 손 생체 정보 인식 시스템)

  • According to the increasing mobile security users who have experienced authentication failure by forgetting passwords, user names, or a response to a knowledge-based question have preference for biological information such as hand geometry, fingerprints, voice in personal identification and authentication. Therefore biometric verification of personal identification and authentication for mobile security provides assurance to both the customer and the seller in the internet. Our study focuses on human hand biometric information recognition system for personal identification and personal Authentication, including its shape, palm features and the lengths and widths of the fingers taken from mobile phone photographs such as iPhone4 and galaxy s2. Our hand biometric information recognition system consists of six steps processing: image acquisition, preprocessing, removing noises, extracting standard hand feature extraction, individual feature pattern extraction, hand biometric information recognition for personal identification and authentication from input images. The validity of the proposed system from mobile phone image is demonstrated through 93.5% of the sucessful recognition rate for 250 experimental data of hand shape images and palm information images from 50 subjects.

  • This Qualitative nursing research was made with a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to find out the meaning and nature of human's experience. The purpose of the inquiry is to find out the meaning and to understand the nature of Joint pain's experience of women in the island and to apply the result to nursing practice. The study was guided by Shin Kyung Rim's four step that revised van Manen's method for doing research. The method of inquiry included : turning to interesting phenomenon. inquiring and investigating experience as it was lived rather than as conceptualized ; reflecting and analyzing essential themes which characterize phenomenon ; and describing phenomenon through art and literature. Multiple strategies for data collecting were needed : deep face to face interview ; analysis of joint pain of women's writings ; describing and analysis of examples of the phenomenon in art, literature. Through this process essensial them of the experience was emerged : Misery that I would like to cut off my body, Sea wind soaking deeply into the bones, Dull pain from the postpartum cold wind, The another suffer I should endure by myself, Recrudesce despite all the try I have made, Often forgetting the pain of every Joint for hardship of life. Findings from artistic and creative inquiry further was validated and meaning was discovered. The study illuminated meaning and simultaneously validated the phenomenological research process. Essential themes for understanding women joint pain's experience, implications, for education, research and practice, direction and need for continuing inquiry were identified.

Perceptions of Anticoagulation Therapy and Medication Adherence among Patients taking Warfarin (와파린 복용 환자의 항응고요법에 대한 인식과 약물복용 이행)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to measure medication adherence and perceptions of anticoagulation therapy and its relationship to patients taking warfarin. Methods: in a cross-sectional survey, 150 patients taking warfarin who had visited an outpatient clinic of a cardiovascular center in Seoul were included as research subjects. Medication adherence was measured using a visual analogue rating scale (VAS). Barriers and attitudes toward adherence, and oral anticoagulation knowledge, were measured using a structured questionnaire. Participants' medical records also were reviewed to identify clinical characteristics. Results: About one third of the participants (30.7%) reported medication adherence as 100%. The major barriers to adherence were identified as "Forgetting the time of medication" and "Not carrying their medication". Overall attitudes toward medication adherence were high, but oral anticoagulation therapy knowledge was low. To determine the relationship of medication adherence and perceptions of anticoagulation therapy, participants were stratified into three groups, based on their medication adherence levels (high adherence, moderate adherence, low adherence). Participants in the high adherent group more likely to be older (OR: 1.04, 95% CI: 1.005-1.071) and to have positive attitudes toward medication adherence (OR: 1.12, 95% CI:1.013-1.229) compared to the other two groups. Conclusion: The results show that age and attitude exerts significant influence on medication adherence in patients taking warfarin.

  • In this information-oriented society of the 21st century, our education should combine the knowledge from the past and present in order to have students be ready to solve “the problems in the future”. But nowadays, our social situation makes much importance of the “cramming” education just for the College Scholastic Ability Test rather than the “whole man” education for making creative citizens of the future society. So does mathematics education. In a high school, mathematics education should be toward these aims: recognizing the value of math, applying mathematical principles to actual lives, promoting students' thinking ability. Also, it should focus on teaching higher level of mathematical knowledge which includes more logical and abstract idea so that students can prepare for the global society of the future. This study is about development and utilization of the teaching materials for mathematics class which usually deviates from the routine right after the Scholastic Ability Test finished. These materials are the result of a complete survey of the 3rd graders and their teachers and designed to use for 30 periods of class from after-the-test-finished to graduation. The materials consist of a history of mathematics, puzzles, magic number squares, and so on. Remarkably different from the current textbooks which deal with sets, equations, functions, these materials proved to be useful for their variety and attraction. Consequently, the materials are considered to keep the 3rd graders from forgetting mathematics even after the Scholastic Ability Test, and to help them recognize that mathematics is a kind of basic and cultural study and a tool of daily lives.

  • We occasionally spend a lot of time looking for things after we forget where we store things. In this paper, we design and develop a product management system that keeps things, tells them where they are, and makes them easy to find. When a person puts a thing on the robot and selects the name of the object through the robot control application installed on the smartphone, the user confirms the empty storage place, moves it, stores it,. Through this paper, it is expected that we will be able to easily find the things we manage at home without forgetting, and contribute to the development of unmanned warehouse management technology.

Seamless Intra MR-BS Handover Based on IEEE802.16j (IEEE802.16j MR-BS내에서 끊김없는 핸드오버 기술)

  • In this paper, we propose a seamless intra MR-BS handover scheme based on IEEE802.16j transparent. The proposed scheme estimates the outage probability of mobile stations at a base station, finds the optimum relay user, and provides low handover latency for seamless data transmission. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional handover schemes in terms of the handover latency by 65% of conventional scheme. Moreover, the proposed scheme exhibits lower packet error rate compared with the conventional handover scheme when a mobile station moves to outside of the cell coverage and reduce both outage probability and the number of handover about 50% from setting forgetting factor and redundant threshold.

  • Previously, there were no studies that were not aware of the importance of video, were interested in the educational value of Flipped Learning, and there were many wrong experiments because they did not understand Flipped Learning. Therefore, an accurate understanding of Flipped Learning is needed. This study proposed the caution of video learning of Flipped Learning and presented the papers and grounds to support to examine the educational value of Flipped Learning. A video of the lecture should be produced with a core content of 10 to 15 minutes, and found that the educational value of Flipped Learning lies in self-directed learning, cooperative learning, habruta, overcoming the oblivion curve and metacognition. It is hoped that this study will provide good guidance and direction of education for teachers who have difficulty Flipped Learning.

Application of Adaptive Control Theory to Nuclear Reactor Power Control (적응제어 기법을 이용한 원자로 출력제어)

  • The Self Tuning Regulator(STR) method which is an approach of adaptive control theory, is ap-plied to design the fully automatic power controller of the nonlinear reactor model. The adaptive control represent a proper approach to design the suboptimal controller for nonlinear, time-varying stochastic systems. The control system is based on a third­order linear model with unknown, time-varying parameters. The updating of the parameter estimates is achieved by the recursive extended least square method with a variable forgetting factor. Based on the estimated parameters, the output (average coolant temperature) is predicted one-step ahead. And then, a weighted one-step ahead controller is designed so that the difference between the output and the desired output is minimized and the variation of the control rod position is small. Also, an integral action is added in order to remove the steady­state error. A nonlinear M plant model was used to simulate the proposed controller of reactor power which covers a wide operating range. From the simulation result, the performances of this controller for ramp input (increase or decrease) are proved to be successful. However, for step input this controller leaves something to be desired.

Attitudes toward, and Practice of Hand Washing by Student Nurses in Clinical Practice (간호대학생의 임상 실습에서의 손씻기 수행 및 태도 조사)

  • Purpose: This descriptive study was done to evaluate the attitude and practice of hand-washing by student nurses. Method: The subjects of the study were 463 senior and junior undergraduate student nurses and RN-BSN students. The questionnaire was developed by the researchers Data were collected from Oct. 16 to Dec. 20. 2001. and analysed by SPSS/WIN. General characteristics. attitude and practice were analyzed by frequency and percentage and differences in attitude and practice according to grade and practice setting were analyzed with $x^2$ test, t-test or ANOVA. Result: 1) The mean frequency of hand-washing was 6.63. Senior students washed more frequently than junior students. 2) The reasons for non-compliance were 'not being accustomed', 'forgetting', and 'not accessible'. 3) The mean time for hand-washing was 23.79 sec., less than the stated appropriate time of 42 18 sec. 4) 90% of the students washed their hands 'after contacting excretions and contaminated items' and few washed 'before giving care to the client'. 5) Most students washed hands rotationally rubbing with soap and water. 6) While washing, they removed their rings more often than their watches. 7) Soap bar (52.8%) and paper towel (69.6%) were most frequently used as decontaminating agent and drying method, but detergent solution (74.2%) and paper towels (60%) were considered as the most appropriate agent and method. 8) Hand-washing was perceived important generally 'to protect from cross-infection'. 'to protect one-self' and 'the most cost effective'. 9) All students responded nurses should practice 'hand-washing.'

A Qualitative Study on the Sexual Violence Victims of Childhood and Adolescence (아동·청소년기에 성폭력을 경험한 피해생존자에 대한 질적연구)

  • The aim of the present study is to understand the lived experiences of sexual violence in childhood and adolescence. Qualitative methodology, which allows us to directly meet individuals who experienced sexual violence, see their experience, and qualitatively analyze their experience was employed. More specifically, I conducted in-depth interviews with 6 woman who experienced sex abuse in their childhood and adolescence, and analyzed their experience using categorization and theme analysis methods. The key themes that were derived from the qualitative data include, 'On the day out of the ordinary; Unspeakable terror', 'Why did this kind of thing happen to me', 'Trying not to loss my senses; Unspeakable suffering, unable to speak', 'I hate myself', 'Forgetting wasn't the end; Would it be okay if I speak out' 'Becoming conscious creates more confusion', 'I know that it is not my fault', 'Internalized social norms', 'Denial of feminity', 'Confusion and recovery'. Based on these findings, I propose a practice guideline to help woman who experienced sexual abuse during childhood and adolescence, and implications for future studies.
