Zero-Forcing 기반의 BLAST 채널 용량 (Channel Capacity of BLAST based on the Zero-Forcing criterion)

  • 본 논문에서는 신호 대 잡음 비의 관점에서 Zero-Forcing 기반의 BLAST(Bell Labs Layered Space-Time) 구조의 채널 capacity를 점근적으로 분석하고자 한다. MIMO 채널 capacity에 관한 새로운 관계를 소개하고, ZF에 기반한 간섭 무효화를 수행할 때 DBLAST(Diagonal BLAST)에 의해 MIMO 채널의 하한값에 이름을 증명한다. 채널 capacity의 확률 밀도 함수의 정확한 최종식을 분석하고, 각 계층의 채널 capacity의 점근적 현상에 기반한 점근적 ergodic capacity의 최종식을 BLAST에서 유도한다. 본 논문에서 다뤄진 분석에 의해 MIMO 채널의 capacity 현상에 대한 통찰할 수 있다. 모의 실험의 결과를 통해서, 본 논문에서 다뤄진 광범위한 안테나 배열 사이즈에 대한 분석의 타당성과 정확성을 보여주고자 한다.

SSLNR 기반의 ZF-THP를 위한 새로운 빔형성 기법 (New Beamforming Technique for ZF-THP Based on SSLNR)

  • 본 논문에서는 협력 빔형성(Coordinated Multi-Point Coordinated Beamforming : CoMP CB) 시나리오에서 인접한 사용자들 때문에 발생되는 간섭(Inter User Interference : IUI)을 제거하기 위해 사용된 Block Diagonal Geometric Mean Decomposition(BD-GMD)기반의 IUI 제거 알고리즘을 Successive Signal to Leakage plus Noise Ratio(SSLNR) 환경에서의 ZF(Zero-Forcing)에 적용하여 누출 전력을 제거한다. 또 IUI 제거 알고리즘을 사용했을 시 문제가 되는 원하는 신호 전력(Desired signal power)의 크기를 크게 보장할 수 없다는 점을 보완하기 위해 적절한 채널 열 순열(Channel ordering)을 수행하여 원하는 신호의 전력을 높인다. IUI 제거 알고리즘 사용과 적절한 채널 열 순열을 통해 기존의 SSLNR-Zero-Forcing Tomlinson Harashima precoding(ZF-THP) 기법보다 더 나은 비트오류확률(Bit Error Rate : BER)성능을 낼 수 있다.

Effects of honey bee (Apis mellifera L.) colony size on the pollination of greenhouse-cultivated watermelon (Citrullus lanatus L.) under forcing cultivation

  • We investigated the effects of honey bee (Apis mellifera L.) colony size on the pollination of greenhouse-cultivated watermelon grown under the forcing cultivation system. The highest pollination activity of bees was observed ($14.3{\pm}5.0$ honey bees/day) when the bee colony size was 10,000 followed by 7,500 and 5,000 honey bees. There was a positive correlation between the bee colony size and pollination activity (R = 0.262) but insignificant difference in fruit set with different honey bee colony sizes (88%-91%). Evaluation of physical properties revealed that the weight and shape of watermelon were also not significantly different among different colony sizes. However, larger the bee colony size, higher the number of seeds were fertilized and rate of seed fertilization (p > 0.05). Number of seeds and content of sugar were negatively correlated (R = -0.714). Fertilized seeds showed a significant increase in mealy flesh, which has a negative effect on fruit quality, compared with that of the unfertilized seeds. Overall, we found that a colony size of 5,000 honey bees was the most effective for the pollination of watermelon grown under forcing cultivation. A comparison of the effects of bee pollination with those of artificial pollination suggested that artificial pollination can be effectively replaced by bee pollination in the forcing cultivation of watermelon, because fruit set, weight, and shape by bee pollination were similar to those achieved by artificial pollination.

Taps Delayed Lines Architecture Based on Linear Transmit Zero-Forcing Approach for Ultra-Wide Band MIMO Communication Systems

  • In this paper, a transmitter-based multipath processing and inter-channel interference (ICI) cancellation scheme for a ultra-wideband (UWB) spatial multiplexing (SM) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system is presented. It consists of taps delayed lines and zero-forcing (ZF) filters in the transmitter and correlators in the receiver. For a UWB SM MIMO system with N transmit antennas, M receive antennas, and Q resolvable multipath components, the BER performance of a linear transmit ZF scheme is analyzed in a log-normal fading channel and also compared with that of a receiver-based ICI rejection approach. It is found that when M ${\leq}$ N, the transmit ZF processing approach outperforms the ZF receiver while making the mobile units low-cost and low-power.

주기적 회전을 이용한 원봉 후류의 되먹임 제어 (Feedback Control of a Circular Cylinder Wake with Rotational Oscillation)

  • A new feedback control law is proposed and tested for suppressing the vortex shedding from a circular cylinder in a uniform flow. The lift coefficient ( $C_{L}$) is employed as a feedback control signal and the control forcing is given by a rotational oscillation of the cylinder. The influence of the feedback transfer function on the $C_{L}$ reduction is examined. The main rationale of the feedback control is that a feedback control forcing is imposed at a phase which is located outside the range of lock-on. By applying the feedback control law, $C_{L}$ is reduced significantly. Furthermore, the reduction mechanism of $C_{L}$ is analyzed by showing the vortex formation modes with respect to the forcing phase.e.ase.e.

열대 해양의 해수면온도와 구름의 상호관계 (Interrelationships between Sea Surface Temperatures and Clouds over the Tropical Oceans)

  • The intra-annual and interannual variations of total, high, middle, low clouds, and cloud forcing net solar radiation flux, cloud forcing net long-wave radiation flux, and SSTs over the tropical oceans are investigated with the use of ISCP D2, NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis for January 1983-December 1993. The intra-annual variation of total cloudiness is dominated by high and middle clouds in the western Pacific and central tropical oceans, the interannual variation of total cloudiness is also dominated by high and middle clouds in the central Pacific and Atlantic. The dominant intra-annual and interannual EOFs of total cloudiness have spatially coherent link with those SSTs. For the interannual EOFs, total cloudiness and SSTs are related to E1 nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO). The second most important intra-annual EOFs of total cloudiness are related to Inter Tropical Convergence Zone(ITCZ). The third most important intra-annual EOFs show coherent relation in the western Pacific. The correlation analysis between cloud radiative effects and SSTs show spatially coherent relation over the tropical oceans even though cloud forcing cooling effect is much higher than heating effect.

KINK WAVE SOLUTIONS TO KDV-BURGERS EQUATION WITH FORCING TERM

  • In this paper, we used modified tanh-coth method, combined with Riccati equation and secant hyperbolic ansatz to construct abundantly many real and complex exact travelling wave solutions to KdV-Burgers (KdVB) equation with forcing term. The real part is the sum of the shock wave solution of a Burgers equation and the solitary wave solution of a KdV equation with forcing term, while the imaginary part is the product of a shock wave solution of Burgers with a solitary wave travelling solution of KdV equation. The method gives more solutions than the previous methods.

  • We present an immersed boundary (IB) method for 3D simulation of flappingflags in a uniform flow. The proposed formulation is manipulated on the basis of an efficient Navier-Stokes solver adopting the fractional step method and a staggered Cartesian grid system. A direct numerical method is developed to calculate the flag motion, with the elastic force treated implicitly. The fluid motion defined on an Eulerian grid and the flag motion defined on a Lagrangian grid are independently solved and the mass of flag is handled in a natural way. An additional momentum forcing is formulated from the flag motion equation in a way similar with the direct-forcing IB formulation and acts as the interaction force between the flag and ambient fluid. A series of numerical tests are performed and the present results are compared qualitatively and quantitatively with previous studies. The instantaneous flag motion is analyzed under different conditions and surrounding vortical structures are identified. The effects of physical parameters on the flapping frequency are studied.

  • In the present study, we propose a virtual boundary method for simulation of massive inextensible flexible strings immersed in viscous fluid flow. The fluid motion is governed by the Navier-Stokes equations and a momentum forcing is added in order to bring the fluid to move at the same velocity with the immersed surface. A massive inextensible flexible string model is described by another set of equations with an additional momentum forcing which is a result of the fluid viscosity and the pressure difference across the string. The momentum forcing is calculated by a feedback loop. Simulations of several numerical examples are carried out, inlcuding a hanging string which starts moving under gravity without ambient fluid, a string swimming within a uniform flow and a uniform flow over two side-by side strings. The numerical results agree well with the theoretical analysis and previous experimental observations. Preliminary results of a swimming elongated fishlike body will also be presented.

  • The results are summarized as what follows: 1) The modeling of thin beams, which is a continuous system, into a two DOF system yields satisfactory results for the chaotic vibrations. 2) The concept of "natural forcing function" derived from the eigenfunction of the bifurcation mode is very useful for the natural responses of the system. 3) Among the perturbation techniques, HBM is a good estimate for the response when the geometry of motion is known. 4) It is known that there exist periodic solutions of coupled mode response for somewhat large damping and forcing amplitude, as well as weak damping and forcing. 5) The route-to-chaos related with lateral instability in thin beams is composed of period-doubling and quasiperiodic process and finally follows discontinuous period-doubling process. 6) The chaotic vibrations are verified by using Poincare maps, FFT's, time responses, trajectories in the configuration space, and the very powerful technique Lyapunov characteristics exponents.exponents.
