  • Recently, we have developed the local oxidization and hydrogenization method for graphene layer using atomic force microscope(AFM) tip at room temperature and ambient pressure. With this method we could create locally oxidized or hydrogenized area on the graphene layer with various size from nanometer to micrometer scale, by controlling the amplitude and polarity of the voltage supplied between conducting AFM tip and the graphene layer. We investigated the chemical states of functionalized C atoms in the graphene layer using scanning photoelectron microscopy. By measuring C 1s core level X-ray Photoemission Spectra of the C atoms and suitable fitting process carried on the measured spectra, we could obtain the fraction of oxidization and hydrogenization under various condition, and the evolution of each chemical state during thermal annealing process.

  • The electrolyte effects of the electroplating solution in Cu films grown by ElectroPlating Deposition(EPD) were investigated. The electroplated Cu films were deposited on the Cu(20 nm)/Ti (20 nm)/p-type Si(100) substrate. Potentiostatic electrodeposition was carried out using three terminal methods: 1) an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, 2) a platinum plate as a counter electrode, and 3) a seed layer as a working electrode. In this study, we changed the concentration of a plating electrolyte that was composed of $CuSO_4$, $H_2SO_4$ and HCl. The resistivity was measured with a four-point probe and the material properties were investigated by using XRD(X-ray Diffraction), an AFM(Atomic Force Microscope), a FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope) and an XPS(X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy). From the results, we concluded that the increase of the concentration of electrolytes led to the increase of the film density and the decrease of the electrical resistivity of the electroplated Cu film.

  • Shock vibrations are usually experienced in vehicles excited by impulsive input, such as bumps. The frequency weighting functions of the current standards in ISO 2631 and BS 6841 are to help objectively predict the amount of discomfort of stationary vibration. This experimental study was designed to develop frequency weighting shape for shock vibration having various fundamental frequencies from 0.5 to 16Hz. The specks were produced from the response of single. degree-of-freedom model to a half-sine force input. Fifteen subjects used the magnitude estimation method to judge the discomfort of vertical shock vibration generated on the rigid seat mounted on the simulator. The magnitudes of the shocks, expressed in terms of both peak-to-peak value and un-weighted vibration dose values (VDVs) , were correlated with magnitude estimates of the discomfort. The frequency weighting shapes from the correlation were developed and investigated having nonlinearity due to the magnitude of the shock.

  • As the living standards have been enhanced thanks to rapid to rapid economic growth following industrial progress, today the advancement of woman into specialized jobs keep expanding not only for economic purpose such as increasing family income but also due to changed perception on woman's role, i.e. self-realization. In the actual situations, however, women are generally placed in a inferior position compared with men in most jobs, despite existence of gender equality policy. Therefore, concern and study on female adaptation into job and their work attitude have become increasingly important, which can contribute to alleviating women's discontent in the work but to raising efficiency of job execution and improving work quality. In this treatise, I researched the job attitude of woman for the period of 1980 up to 2005, with interval of every 5 years. For empirical analysis, research has been done towards females teachers in elementary and middle schools as well as female works in financial institutions. Both job fields have comparatively high percentage of female employees and have less sexual discrimination. The purpose of this vertical research is (1) to find out how women workers perceive their job environment, (2) to analyze empirically the change in female job attitude and their flow of consciousness. Ultimately this treatise aimed at contributing to efficient management of female work force in our society.

  • Recently nano meter size pattern (sub-micro scale) can be machined mechanically using a diamond tool. Many studies have found a 'size effect' which referred to a specific cutting energy increase with the decrease in the uncut chip thickness at micro scale machining. A new analysis method was suggested in order to observe 'size effect' in nano scale machining and to verify the cause of the 'size effect' in this study. The diamond tool was indented to a vertical depth of 1,000nm depth in order to simplify the stress state and the normal force was measured continuously. The tip rounding was measured quantitatively by AFM. Based on the measurements and theoretical analysis, it was verified that the main cause of the 'size effect' in nano scale machining is geometrically necessary dislocations, one of the intrinsic material characteristics. st before tool failure.

  • In the early 1960s, US Air Force lost missile launch bases during ICBM development by a defect in the missile design and operation plan. U.S. DoD realized the limitation of the existing accident prevention method. Therefore, the weapon development required system safety activity, and procurement projects of U.S. DoD applied MIL-STD-882(System Safety). Development projects of U.S. DoD more emphasized the importance of system safety after the space shuttle Challenger exploded in 1986. Currently, Airworthiness certification for military aircraft uses system safety to minimize accidents. The domestic defense aviation R&D projects also use the system safety for the airworthiness certification. However, non-aviation weapon R&D projects rarely applied system safety. This paper presents a system safety application method for domestic weapon R&D projects by studying the U.S. military standards/organizations and domestic defense aviation projects.

  • The current domestic design criteria of live load employs DL-24 load and DB-24 load. Particularly for long span bridges above 45meters, DL-24 load is forced to apply and design them, since the shearing force and the moment of DL-24 load appears more dominate than those of DB-24. But it appeared that this DL-24 load didn't meet the vehicles traveling load, which affected bridges in real use. Hence this paper defined ML-24 load similar to the load applied to real bridges and also defined a new live load model, RL-24 load, after adjusting the existing DL-24 load, which doesn't meet the moment and the shearing force of ML-24. As the result of applying and reviewing RL-24 load to simple bridges of span of 45~60m, the results satisfying both the moment and the shearing force applied to bridges in real use by traveling load were attained. Besides, the applicability of it was examined in comparison with live load models of home and abroad.

  • 'Electro-Mechanical Brake (EMB) is a novel braking system for automobiles and railway vehicles, and research in this area is actively underway. The current braking system for railway vehicles generates a braking force using a pneumatic cylinder, but the EMB system generates the force through a combination of an electric motor and gears. In this study, the design of an EMB system that meets the domestic standards was conducted through the finite element modeling and fatigue analysis of an eccentric rotating shaft-based EMB system capable of generating a high clamping force. At this time, to improve the accuracy of fatigue analysis, three types of fatigue test specimens, which were subjected to the same heat treatment as the materials used in the prototype, were produced, and the fatigue tests were performed for each material. The fatigue properties (S-N curves) were obtained from the fatigue test results for each material and reflected in the analysis model. The results of fatigue analysis confirmed that the design of the EMB prototype could satisfy the maximum commercial braking/relaxation of 530,000 times, which was the endurance life condition for domestic railway vehicles. In addition, based on this design, a prototype will be manufactured, and endurance testing will be completed to demonstrate the durability characteristics of the developed prototype.
