자기력이 적용된 철가루 혼합 사질토의 전단강도특성 연구 (Study on Shear Strength Characteristic of Steel Particle-sand Mixture Influenced by Magnetic Force)

  • Strain-stress behavior of soil is of importance in dealing with geo-techniques which relate to bearing capacity, slope stability, earth pressure and many geo-technical problems. So understanding mechanism of the behavior and reinforcing soil to the required state has been an issue for many years. This paper presents the possibility of magnetic force in enhancing shear strength. To analyze the reinforcing effect, triaxial compression tests were performed on two sets of steel-sand mixtures, one of which is influenced by permanent magnet, NdFeB. With magnetic force under 50 kPa confining pressure, maximum shear strengths increased according to steel percentages but under 100 kPa, no significant changes in maximum shear strengths occurred. Therefore the analysis by Mohr's circles indicates that magnetic force converts the shearing characteristics of sand into those of clay.

근전도 기반의 실시간 등척성 손가락 힘 예측 알고리즘 개발 (Development of a Real-Time Algorithm for Isometric Pinch Force Prediction from Electromyogram (EMG))

  • This paper describes a real-time isometric pinch force prediction algorithm from surface electromyogram (sEMG) using multilayer perceptron (MLP) for human robot interactive applications. The activities of seven muscles which are observable from surface electrodes and also related to the movements of the thumb and index finger joints were recorded during pinch force experiments. For the successful implementation of the real-time prediction algorithm, an off-line analysis was performed using the recorded activities. Four muscles were selected for the force prediction by using the Fisher linear discriminant analysis among seven muscles, and the four muscle activities provided effective information for mapping sEMG to the pinch force. The MLP structure was designed to make training efficient and to avoid both under- and over-fitting problems. The pinch force prediction algorithm was tested on five volunteers and the results were evaluated using two criteria: normalized root mean squared error (NRMSE) and correlation (CORR). The training time for the subjects was only 2 min 29 sec, but the prediction results were successful with NRMSE = 0.112 ${\pm}$ 0.082 and CORR = 0.932 ${\pm}$ 0.058. These results imply that the proposed algorithm is useful to measure the produced pinch force without force sensors in real-time. The possible applications include controlling bionic finger robot systems to overcome finger paralysis or amputation.

제연구역 출입문의 차압 및 개방력 측정기준의 실효성 분석에 관한 연구 (Study on the Analysis of Differential Pressure of the Access Door for a Smoke Control Zone and the Effectiveness of the Measurement Criteria of its Opening Force)

  • 본 연구에서는 화재실과 인접부 제연구역의 차압 및 방화문의 개방력을 측정할 때의 문제점을 분석하고, 객관적인 방법에 의해 측정된 실측값을 제시하는데 있다. NFSC 501A의 제연설비 가동 시 출입문의 개방에 필요한 힘은 110 N 이하로 규정하고 있다. 제연설비가 설치된 공간에서 제연설비가 작동하지 않을 때는 KS F 2805의 시험방법에 의해서 개방력의 측정이 가능하지만 제연설비가 작동되었을 때는 화재실과 제연실의 차압에 의해 발생되는 추가적인 힘이 필요하므로 기준에서 제시하는 시험방법은 신뢰성이 부족함을 알 수 있다. 제연설비 가동 전 완전히 폐쇄된 상태의 개방력은 아날로그측정기($F_a$) 27.8 N, 디지털측정기($F_d$) 27.4 N을 각각 나타냈다. 그리고 문이 $5^{\circ}$ 개방된 상태의 개방력 $F_a$는 33 N, $F_d$는 33.6 N을 나타냈다. 제연설비가 작동되고 완전히 폐쇄된 상태의 개방력 $F_a$는 45.3 N, $F_d$는 46.9 N을 나타냈고, 문이 $5^{\circ}$ 개방된 상태의 개방력 $F_a$는 77.6 N, $F_d$는 76.0 N 등으로 확인되었다. 따라서 현재의 KS F 2805에서 제시하고 있는 기준과 상이하므로 적절한 기준의 검토가 요구된다.

  • Safety Management of Korean railway industry has been rapidly changed into a risk-based approach adopted by developed countries since Railway Safety Act 2004, Rolling Stock Risk Assessment Guidance and its following regulations came into force. The fundamental requirements for the risk-based safety management is to carry out a systematic hazard identification and quantified risk analyses including cost-benefit analyses, but there has been rare a serious discussion over risk acceptance criteria and value of life in order to be able to judge the results of risk analyses and carry out cost-benefit analyses. This study presents the results of a review of risk acceptance criteria and value of life which may be adoped to Korean railway industry through the analyses with comparison of risk accepatnce principles and risk accepatnce criteria which have been already applied to other countries or other railway operators.

소형 어선 및 화물선의 복원성기준 연구 (Study on the Stability Criteria for Small Fishing Vessels and Cargo Ships)

  • According to amendments of ship safety act which comes into force from 4 Nov. 2007, the amended stability criteria should be applied to the small vessels of 12m or more in length. In this paper, the dimensions of domestic small vessels and the casualty reports of capsizing accidents are analyzed. And 58 ships are sampled, modeled for the investigation of the stability performance. Based on the regression analysis of the model ship's allowable metacentric-heights under several stability requirements, stability criteria for small fishing vessels and cargo ships are proposed.

A Form-finding of Planar Tensegrity Structures

  • A form-finding procedure is presented for planar tensegrity structures. Notably, a simple decision criteria is proposed to select the desirable candidate position vector from the unitary matrix produced by the eigenvalue decomposition of force density matrix. The soundness of the candidate position vector guarantees faster convergence and produces a desirable form of tensegrity without any member having zero-length. Several numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the capability of the proposed form-finding process.

A Study on the Measurement of Contact Force of Pantograph on High Speed Train

  • Appropriate upward force is crucial for the pantograph on high speed train to collect current from the catenery system without separation. However, at high speed, large aerodynamic lifting force is generated by the contact plate and the arms of pantograph, which may cause wear of the contact wire. In this study, to confirm the interface performance of the pantograph on Korea High Speed Train, a method to measure the contact force of the pantograph was proposed and the related measurement system was developed. The forces acting on the pantograph were clarified and a procedure to calculate the aerodynamic lifting force was proposed. A special device was invented and applied to measure the lifting force. Measured contact forces were displayed by the developed system and evaluated according to the criteria. Countermeasures were also taken to reduce the contact force based on the results.

제연구역 출입문의 최적 설계를 위한 도어클로저의 기준 산정에 관한 연구 (Study on the Assessment of the Criteria on a Door Closer for the Optimum Design of the Access Door of a Smoke Control Zone)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 제연구역 출입문의 최적 설계를 위한 플로어힌지(floor-hinge) 및 도어클로저(door closer)의 기준을 제시하는데 있다. 차압에 대한 개방력은 60 Pa일 때 60.75 N, 40 Pa일 때 40.5 N, 32.5 Pa일 때 32.91 N, 12.5 Pa일 때 12.66 N 등이다. KS F 2806의 기준을 적용한 플로어힌지 및 도어클로저의 개방력은 No.1은 27.5 N, No. 2는 40 N, No. 3는 75 N, No. 4는 100 N, No. 5는 125 N 등이다. 차압과 플로어힌지 및 도어클로저의 개방력을 NFSC 501A의 개방력 제한값과 비교한 결과 기준을 초과하는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서 NFSC 501A 차압과 방연 풍속을 설계에 반영하는 것뿐만 아니라 개방력도 설계에 반영할 필요가 있다. 제연댐퍼의 종류에 따라 출입문의 플로어힌지 및 도어클로저의 설치 조건은 호칭에 따라 다르다. 저차압용의 경우는 No. 1, No. 2, No. 3의 설치가 가능하며, 일반 차압용의 경우에는 No. 1, No. 2의 설치가 가능하였다.

어머니의 체형과 체형인식에 따른 아동복 구매 시 의복평가기준의 비교 연구 (Comparative Analysis of Children's Clothing Evaluative Criteria According to Groups Divided by Mother's Somatotype & Somatotype Cognition)

  • Mothers are a powerful consumer force in the children clothing market, and somatotype plays an crucial role on their evaluation of clothing and decision to purchase. It is therefore essential to identify the roles of mother's somatotype & somatotype cognition in relation to purchasing of children clothing. This study aimed to investigate the effects of mother’s actual somatotype & somatotype cognition on their children’s clothing evaluative criteria. In order to compare the clothing evaluative criteria of the groups and among the groups by mother’s somatotypes at the point of children’s clothing purchases, mother’s actual somatotype & somatotype cognition of their self and their children were adopted as variables. Total usable questionnaires were obtained from 147 middle-aged mothers of students aged between 10 & 13. Results indicated that practical, commodity & symbolic dimensions of children’s clothing evaluative criteria were used differently by each group to decide on purchase of clothing for thin, moderate & heavy children. This study provides important commercial information about mother’s actual somatotype & somatotype cognition related to their children’s clothing evaluative criteria, and as such can be used strategically to the effective communication with consumers.
