Background: Numerous studies of safe, long term preservation for lung transplantation have been performed using ex vivo models or in vivo single lung transplantation models. However, a safe preservation time which is applicable for clinical use is difficult to determine. We prepared LPDG solution for lung preservation study. In this study we examined the efficacy of LPDG(low potassium dextran glucose) solution in 24-hour lung preservation by using a sequential bilateral canine lung allotransplant model. Material and Method: Seven bilateral lung transplant procedures were performed using weight-matched pairs(24 to 25kg) of adult mongrel dogs. The donor lungs were flushed with LPDG solution and maintained hyperinflated with 100% oxygen at 1$0^{\circ}C$ for a planned ischemic time of 24 hours for the lung implanted first. After sequential bilateral lung transplantation, dogs were maintained on ventilators for 3 hours: arterial resistance were determined if the recipients hourly after bilateral reperfusion and compared with pretransplant-recipient values, which were used as controls. After 2hours of reperfusion, the chest X-ray, computed tomogram and lung perfusion scan were performed for assessmint of early graft lung function. Pathological examinations for ultrastructural findings of alveolar structure and endothelial structure of pulmonary artery were performed. Result: Five of seven experiments successfully finished the whole assessments after bilateral reperfusion for three hours. Arterial oxygen tension in the recipients was markedly decrased in immediate reperfusion period but gradually recovered after reperfusion for three hours. The pulmonary artery and pulmonary vascular resistance showed singificant elevation(p<0.05 versus control values) but also recovered after reperfusion for three hours(p<0.05 versus immediate period value). The ultrastructural findings of alveolar structure and endothelial structure of pulmonary artery showed reversible mild injury in 24 hours of lung perservation and reperfusion. Conclusion : This study suggests that LPDG solution provides excellent preservation in a canine model in which the dog is completely dependent on the function of the transplanted lung.

Construction management has been a target of the result and the index which were decided by whether the resourecs(time, cost and progress...etc) were used. but this has been serious problems in time and cost because of the shortage of storage space, the incident, lowering of efficiency for works, working impossible of between work categories and the demage of finished products. Therefore I noticed that more correct and more objective establish of data collecting system was necessary. it was through the diversification of information for exchange and communication between the construction site and participants. DVR(Digital Video Recorder) and internet technology were suggested for a solution to this problem. the collected information by DVR was divided to 3 steps as how long it used and how much it processed for improving efficiency of using and storage of information. and then it was verified through applying to cases at construction site.

As an alternative to overcome the limitations of current popular schedule system such as Bar Chart, PERT, CPM in proving the feasibility of a given project schedule and duration, this research applies simulation to the 'Shiwha Techno-Valley project, and then reviews its usability in time management. Shiwha-Techno-Valley is a gigantic project requiring large number of equipment and resulting in traffic congestion. In particular, project site is located near the Shiwha industrial complex and Daeboo-Do tourist place. Therefore, current traffic needs should not be ignored. This research evaluates whether the project can be finished in a given time even if construction equipment increase in addition to the current traffic. Through the analysis of the simulation output, the research identifies the optimal resource input and the needs on alternative schedule for the project.

Recently, many researchers make a great effort to develop high efficient marine diesel engines using low grade heavy oil, and also study substitution fuel oil for engines and boilers. In case of Fisheries Vessels, we need to know that fish oil can be substituted for fuel oil. Therefore, it is studied that evaporation, ignition and combustion phenomena of the single droplet of fish oils (i.e., Sardine fish oil, File fish oil and Alaska pollac oil) on heated plane surface to evaluate appropriateness as substitution oil. Methanol and light oil are tested simultaneously to help the evaluation on these Fish oils. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The type of evaporation and combustion is spherical evaporation in case of methanol and light oil. And fish oil blended with light oil was finished after spherical evaporation happen when high temperature. 2. Ignition of Pure fish oil was shorter than that of fish oil blended with light oil. 3. Heat transferred to droplet could make qualitative comparison by contact diameter of droplet with hot surface as time changes. Life time of droplet according to the change of heated surface temperature was greatly influenced by droplet contact condition on the heated surface. 4. As far as combustion phenomena was concerned, apparent diameter of the fish oil droplet increased after ignition and decreased suddenly by internal boiling of droplet. 5. Three fish oils had similar phenomena on the evaporation, ignition and combustion. 6. Evaporation and combustion feature of fish oil could not be shown by coefficient of evaporation velocity of droplet and coefficient of combustion velocity of droplet.
Objectives: There has been a great amount of controversy in the food industry over the effectiveness of using gloves. The objectives of this study were to examine the microbial contamination of food handlers' hands and determine if using gloves could ensure safe handling of foods. Methods: Samples were collected through the glove-juice method from the bare and gloved hands of food handlers at work and were analyzed for the presence of aerobic plate counts, total coliform, fecal coliform, Escherichiacoli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella spp. Microbiological testing was conducted according to the Food Code of Korea. Results: Microbial contamination was consistently higher with bare hands than with gloved hands, although the microbial loads on both hands increased over time. Under certain conditions, there were significant differences between the bacterial loads on bare and on gloved hands (p<0.05). E. coli, S. aureus, and Salmonella spp. were still alive on both bare and gloved hands at the time the food handlers finished their work. Conclusions: Wearing gloves was associated with a marked reduction of bacterial contamination of the hands. However, the practice of continuously wearing gloves during food handling increases the potential for cross-contamination of bacteria. The findings of this study emphasize the need for a rational use of gloves, and strict adherence to hand hygiene compliance among food handlers.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 3-month nutrition education (First Time Intervention, FI) + additional 3-month nutrition education (Repeated Intervention, RI) which was performed after the 8-month followup. FI was conducted during 0-3 months and RI for 11-14 months. Ninety-two subjects completed FI program, and 38 out of 92 subjects who received FI finished the RI. Anthropometric data, dietary assessment (24hr recall) and fasting blood analysis were measured at 0 month, 3 months, 11 months and 14 months time points. After FI (3 mo), waist circumference, triglycerides, total cholesterol were significantly decreased. At 11 month follow-up, body weight, BMI, hip circumference, SBP, DBP were significantly rebounced and HDL cholesterol was significantly decreased. Therefore, the effect of short-term nutrition education was not being sustained. After the secondary nutrition intervention (14 mo), waist circumference and hip circumference were again significantly decreased. Total diet quality index-international (DQI-I) score was significantly increased in both FI group and RI group. The changes in DQI-I scores were significantly correlated with the changes in body weight (r = -0.129, p < 0.05) and counts of nutrition education (r = 0.159, p < 0.05), indicating that effective nutrition education helps improve the diet quality leading to a possible role in CVD prevention among male workers. Although a short-term intervention seems to be a success, the effect was not retained in this study. Therefore, we suggest incorporating nutrition education as a routine program for male worker at worksite.
This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage(EIPH) on the finishing position of racehorses, 400 bleeders(305: 1 time, 76: 2 times, 19: 3 times, total: 514 cases) which had bled(EIPH) from their nostrils after their races at the Seoul racecourse during the 5 years period('93-'97) were analyzed for this study. The ratio of bleeders to total racehorses in finishing position 1-3,4-6, 7-9 or above 10 was 0.55, 0.84, 0.90 or 1.13%, respectively. There is tendency to higher incidence of bleeding in the later positioned racehorses group. To analyze the correlation between EIPH and finishing position, finishing potion of each EIPHed horses' was checked at 7 successive races(3 races each before/after EIPH. The average final position at the -3rd race, -2nd racer -lst racer EIPHed race, 1st race,2nd race and 3rd race of each bleeder was 5.85. 5.94, 6.21, 7.32, 7.20, 6.51 and 6.53, respectively. Raring times were adjusted to 1,000 m equivalent. Average racing times of the -3rd race,-2nd racer -lst raced EIPHed race, 1st race, 2nd race and 3rd race of each bleeder was 67.1, 67.1, 67.2, 67.6, 67.5, 67.4 and 67.3 second, respectively. Bleeders which finished the race within 1 second following the winners were 25. 3% of total bleeders. The rest 74.7% reached at the finish line 1 second later than the winners. Particularly 46.3% of bleeders were above 2 second later. Therefore this study suggested that bleeding has effect on performance of the racehorse, consequently it make bleeders be placed later positions.
A 4-year-old spayed female, Yorkshire terrier dog with a history of petechial and ecchymotic hemorrhages on the face, trunk and hind limb was referred to Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Cheju National University. The complete blood count revealed a marked thrombocytopenia ($96{\times}10^3/{\mu}l$). The biochemical profile showed only slightly increased glucose. The coagulation profile such as prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time, was within the reference range. In Giemsa staining, there were no endoparasites like as Babesia spp. on the RBC. This case was diagnosed as a idiopathic thrombocytopenia in a Yorkshire terrier dog. She was treated with prednisone (1 mg/kg BW, IM q 12 h) and cephalosporin (10 mg/kg BW, IM, q 12 h). When rechecked on day 6, the platelet was within reference range ($507{\times}10^3/{\mu}l$) and also petechial and ecchymotic hemorrhages on the body were gradually improved without any complications. The dose of prednisone was decreased to 0.5 mg/kg BW, q 24 h. On day 17, we finished treatment because all the clinical signs, blood and serum chemistry were reference range and platelet count was dramatically increased.
Today, many pregnant women also advance up the business ladder and remain very active. They are consequently increasingly aware of the clothes they can wear. Despite these social changes, maternity wear has not been specially designed to satisfy the consumer's demands. From this, the purposes of this study are to investigate the current status of maternity wear and the apparent buying trends of pregnant women through a customers' opinion survey and interviews for the future maternity markets. In summary, the survey and interviews illustrate some important points which are that: Firstly, not all pregnant women buy maternity wear. Some pregnant women said they couldn't find enough difference in maternity wear prices even though they would like to buy some, commenting that maternity clothes were too expensive for such a short period of time. Also some already had maternity wear from a previous pregnancy, or had been passed on from friends and family. Secondly, on the other hand, many respondents were strongly concerned with style and quality rather than price because they agreed that there were not enough suitable maternity clothes for work and special occasions. Therefore some respondents would buy a maternity outfit for a special occasion. It also indicates that for a particular time, place or occasion like a party, wedding or other celebration, some respondents would buy a special outfit to make themselves feel good. Finally, according to the survey, the most important design concept is for wearable designs which change with the body during pregnancy; followed closely by designs which are able to be re-used when the pregnancy has finished. Nowadays, as recycling and saving resources are the biggest issues, if maternity manufacturers are encouraged to develop new products incorporating these new design concepts, more maternity markets will be developed to buy maternity wear.
In this paper, the lessons and learns are introduced from the result of the trial project which is the first CBTC(Communication Based Train Control System) at Korail Bundang Line. This project has started end of 2002 and finished recently by Samsung SDS. The main purpose of this project was that new technology was seek for next generation of railway signal control system adapted in Korea. In 2002, there was no any revenue service system using Radio Frequency CBTC in the world at that time. Just a few trial project was on going in USA and EU. In well developed cities, the metro system have been built and old enough therefore they have to be considering re-signalling their existing system with advanced system for increasing availabilities of line usage and safety. This Bundang Line Trial Project was the first Korean CBTC project for above reasons. Most sub systems have been developed using local technology such as Electronics Controlled Interlocking System and Track Circuit Systems etc. Specially, in this project the RF-Communication devices are developed by local technology using DSSS(Direct Sequency Spread Spectrum) instead of FHSS(Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum). This project has lasted for more than five years originally planned for three years because it was only accessible only night time in the main line from Ori to Suseo about 20km long. Each night only 2 and half hours are available to use the main line. Now the trial project has been done successfully with meet the customer's requirement, therefore the upgrade the mainline of Bundang line and another extension area up to Wangsipli to make revenue service using this new technology. This paper shows this result of the trial project and the strategy of upgrade and extension project as well.
