  • When standardized patients (SPs) are used for educational purposes, the authenticity of role play and the quality of feedback are essential requirements of SPs. This study was conducted to investigate medical students' assessment of SPs and to identify the components of SPs' performance that were most strongly correlated with patient-physician interaction score. One hundred and forty-two fourth-year medical students were asked to complete the Maastricht Assessment of Simulated Patients (MaSP) at the end of a clinical performance examination. SPs evaluated the patient-physician interactions using a 4-point Likert scale (1=poor to 4=excellent). Medical students' assessment of SPs using the MaSP was positively correlated with patient-physician interactions (r=0.325, p<0.01). Items addressing the authenticity of role play (e.g., "SPs appear authentic," "SPs might be real patients," and "SPs answer questions in a natural manner") were closely correlated with patient-physician interactions (p<0.001, p=0.027, and p=0.017, respectively). These results showed that the MaSP appears to be a useful instrument for evaluating SPs' performance and that the authenticity of SPs' performance was positively correlated with medical students' interactions. In order to improve patient-physician interactions, medical students should be given opportunities to practice their skills with SPs who have been trained to portray patients with a specific condition in a realistic way.

  • Despite the increase in sales of imported vehicles in Korea, research on the sales forecast of parts logistics centers is very limited. This study aims to perform a sales prediction on bestselling goods in the automobile part logistics center. System dynamics was adopted as a methodology for the prediction method, which considered causal relationship of variables that affected the dynamic characteristics and feedback loops. The analysis results showed that the consumable sales amount of oil increased over time. As a result of conducting the MAPE, the model was assessed to be a reasonable predictive model of 31.3%. In addition, the sales of battery products increased from every October in both of actual and predicted data followed by the peak sales in December and then decrease from next February. This study has academic implications that it secured actual data of specific imported automobile part logistics center, which has not done before in previous studies and quantitatively analyzed the prediction of the quantity of released goods of future sales through system dynamics.

  • This research emphasized that the importance of key elements of job characteristics such as technical diversity, task identity, task importance, autonomy, and feedback. Moreover, it focused on verifying the effects of these five elements on turnover intention through Self-Efficacy. To verify this, an empirical analysis was conducted on employees of the service industry in China. Through empirical analysis, it was found that all five elements of job characteristics improve Self-Efficacy. Furthermore, Self-Efficacy was found to degrade the level of turnover intention. Furthermore, it has been verified that self-efficacy has a fully mediated effect in the relationship between the two elements(technical diversity, autonomy) of job characteristics and turnover intention. Through this research, it was revealed which elements of job characteristics had the greatest influence on self-efficacy. Finally, based on this research, we presented useful implications in human resource management to practitioners of Chinese service companies and Korean service companies seeking to enter China and future research directions were discussed.

  • Mitochondrial genome is an important molecule for systematic and evolutionary studies in metazoans. The development of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technique has rapidly increased the number of mitogenome sequences. The process of generating mitochondrial genome based on NGS includes different steps, from DNA preparation, sequencing, assembly, and annotation. Despite the effort to improve sequencing, assembly, and annotation methods of mitogenome, the low quality and/or quantity sequence in the final map can still be generated through the work. Therefore, it is necessary to check and curate mitochondrial genome sequence after annotation for proofreading and feedback. In this study, we introduce the pipeline for sequencing and curation for mitogenome based on NGS. For this purpose, two mitogenome sequences of Dermatobranchus otome were sequenced by Illumina Miseq system with different amount of raw read data. Generated reads were targeted for assembly and annotation with commonly used programs. As abnormal repeat regions present in the mitogenomes after annotation, primers covering these regions were designed and conventional PCR followed by Sanger sequencing were performed to curate the mitogenome sequences. The obtained sequences were used to replace the abnormal region. Following the replacement, each mitochondrial genome was compared with the other as well as the sequences of close species available on the Genbank for confirmation. After curation, two mitogenomes of D. otome showed a typically circular molecule with 14,559 bp in size and contained 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes. The phylogenetic tree revealed a close relationship between D. otome and Tritonia diomea. The finding of this study indicated the importance of caution and curation for the generation of mitogenome from NGS.

  • This study aims to establish the relationship between the Green Marketing Orientation (GMO) variables and the performance of Green Small and Medium Enterprises (GSMEs) across the building and energy sectors in Malaysia, using customer satisfaction as a means of performance measurement. The GMO variables examined include Greening the Process (GTP), Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM), Green Strategic Policy Initiatives (GSPI), Proactive Energy Conservation (PEC) and Green Promotion (GP). The items used to measure these variables were extracted from literature and adapted to the context of the variables based on feedback from Focus Group Discussions and Expert Opinion sessions. This study employs a survey sample of 300 respondents but only 238 completed questionnaires were returned. The results reveal that GTP, GSCM and PEC have a positive impact on Customer Satisfaction but not GSPI and GP. The findings suggest that owners or managers of GSMEs should focus on maintaining and improving GTP, GSCM and PEC in order to create greater satisfaction among their customers. The significance of this study is that it enables the creation of a framework that enables GSMEs to design a pathway towards achieving a cleaner production of goods and services in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

  • This study investigates longitudinal writing development in terms of syntactic complexity using linear mixed effects (LME) model. This study employs essays written by four case study participants. Participants voluntarily wrote essays outside of the classroom and submitted the first and second drafts, after reflecting on the automated writing evaluation feedback (i.e., Criterion) every month over one year. A total of 48 first drafts were analyzed and syntactic complexity features were selected from Syntactic Complexity Analyzer. Results of LME showed that there was a significant positive linear relationship between time and mean length of T-unit and also between time and the ratio of dependent clauses to independent clauses, indicating that case study participants wrote longer T-units and also a higher proportion of dependent clauses over one year.
