  • This study aims to provide intellectual access to TV content using faceted classification. In order to describe the content of news and current affairs programs, a faceted approach was explored. Based on the Ranganathan's PMEST formula, the basic facets - 'who', 'what', 'how', 'where', 'when' - and their sub-facets were created, specifically for describing the news genre. Additionally, the formal structure and the contextual features of the news genre were mainly considered for creating sub-facets. These created facets were applied to a news genre program. The result shows that these suggested facets are useful for representing well the contextual components of the news genre. The application of faceted classification is expected to improve the identification of the specific TV content.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify goodness-of-fit by Many-Facets Rasch model for applying martial arts training satisfaction scale to security martial arts trainees. To achieve the purpose, 255 security martial arts trainees' data were used in the analysis. In addition, In addition, the AMOS 20.0 program was used for unidimensionality validation, and take advantage of the Facets 3.61 program for goodness-of-fit verification. Specific results are as follows: First, Unidimensionali test results showed that model fit, reliability and standardized ${\beta}$ value are suitable. Second, the analysis results of goodness-of-fit, items 1, 2, 3 are inadequate, 4, 8, 11, 13, 14 items once found to be over-fit questions. Also, analysis of item difficulty, item 1 has highest difficulty and item 7 was lowest. Third, According Facets item difficulty and response difference verification result, female group exhibited a high level of item difficulty compared to the male group, goodness-of-fit was all accurate. As the result of item difficulty and response difference verification based on Martial arts training flow, there is no response difference according to the training experience. On the other hands, less than 4 years to 5 years and less than 5 years to 6 years trainees represented over-fit features. Results of item difficulty and response difference verification by grade level, first grade was the most highly recognized the item difficulty and fourth grade was also recognized the lowest of item difficulty Fourth, the response category analysis showed that the six points response categories are not appreciate.

  • Writing is a subjective and performative activity. Writing ability has multi-facets and compoundness. To understand the examinees's writing ability accurately and provide effective writing scores, raters first ought to have the competency regarding assessment. Therefore, this study is significant as a fundamental research about rater's characteristics on the TOPIK writing assessment. 150 scripts of the 47th TOPIK examinees were selected randomly, and were further rated independently by 20 raters. The many-facet Rasch model was used to generate individualized feedback reports on each rater's relative severity and consistency with respect to particular categories of the rating scale. This study was analyzed using the FACETS ver 3.71.4 program. Overfit and misfit raters showed many difficulties for noticing the difference between assessment factors and interpreting the criteria. Writing raters appear to have much confusion when interpreting the assessment criteria, and especially, overfit and misfit teachers interpret the criteria arbitrarily. The main reason of overfit and misfit is the confusion about assessment factors and criteria in finding basis for scoring. Therefore, there needs to be more training and research is needed for raters based on this type of writing assessment characteristics. This study is recognized significantly in that it collectively examined writing assessment characteristics of writing raters, and visually confirmed the assessment error aspects of writing assessment.

  • This study pointed out the reality that many novice Korean language teachers who lack rater training are scoring the learners' writing skill. The study performed and analyzed a case where pre-service teachers were educated in order to explore the possibility of promoting rater training in a Korean language teacher training course. The pre-service teachers majoring in Korean language education at the graduate school scored TOPIK compositions and were provided feedback by the FACETS program, which were further discussed at the rater meeting. In three scoring processes, the raters scored with conscious of own rating patterns and showed positive change or over correction due to excessive consciousness. Consequentially, ongoing training can improve rating ability, and considering the fact that professional rater training is hard to progress, the method composed of FACETS analysis and rater training revealed positive effects. On the other hand, the rater training including native Korean and non-native(Chinese) speakers together showed no significant difference by mother tongue but by individual difference. This can be interpreted as a positive implication to the rating reliability of non-native speakers possessing advanced Korean language abilities. However, this must be supplemented through extended research.

  • We present a long term projects of which an interpretation of the symbols and proposals of the original idea of new game method using by an archaeological dodecahedron with pentagon facets was unearthed on the kansan districts in Chungnam to the high school students participated in a creative tournament of the love of science and Taejeon. As a results, students interpreted the twelve symbols intaglioed on the dodecahedron with pentagon facets as numbers, duodecimal system, compass direction, five elements, etc. And also many students proposed original ideas for the game using the dodecahedron based on the principle of Um(-) and Yang(+) with the five elements, game of numbers, game of board, and so on. In this study we suggests that the creative program using the dodecahedron can be applicable to the creative education for gifted and talented youth.

  • DICOM images of patellofemoral bones were converted into a stereolithography file, and a Unigraphics CAD program was used to create a CAD modeling in which there exists point, line and facet information. The modeling extraction of joint facets was performed by linking two adjacent points into lines in the stereolithography file by using the Unigraphics rapid spacing function and then linking the lines into facets to complete the entire modeling. This modeling extraction was performed based on the anatomical knowledge of joint facet directions. As a result, a personalized space modeling and solid modeling were produced for the joint facets of patellofemoral bones. This was followed by a CAM control computing operation of solid modeling on graphite materials and 5-axis machining of patellofemoral bones. That is the description of a method for a personalized implant modeling by using DICOM images of patellofemoral bones.

  • Regarding professionalism of primary teachers, a dispute over professionalism as classroom teachers versus as subject teachers has been amplified past decades. However, these controversies tend to be resolved mainly by theocratical, political, and systematic facets. In other words, discussions on professionalism of primary teachers have been explored in various aspects, but they have not much focused on teacher preparation programmes. Moreover, although from a comparative educational point of view some research focus on teacher preparation programmes in North Americas and European countries, comparison studies of the programmes in East Asian countries, such as China, Japan and Korea have been rarely conducted. The aim of this study is to compare teacher preparation programmes between Korea and China, and based on what the research found we attempt to understand Korean programmes from a new perspective. Selecting each of 13 teacher educational universities in two countries, we analyse documentations of the universities in which the educational aims, proportions of curricula construction, curricula requirements, and types of subjects are presented. Our research offers implications for future revisions of teacher preparation programmes.

  • The purpose of the study is to develop a science writing program for middle school students and to analyze the effects of this program. The program consists of twenty-one 10-minute long sessions in 2 chapters (stimulus and response; the structure and function of plants) from the $2^{nd}$ year middle school textbooks. The team selected themes in science writing that can cultivate multiple facets of creativity in students: flexibility, originality and elaboration. The format of the science writing was diverse. The program was conducted through worksheets, and there was separate section within the worksheet for teacher to give feedback to students. The science writing program with teacher's feedback improved students' scientific creativity(p<.01). It seems like teacher's feedback is critical in checking students' concept and boosting students' creativity. The program is statistically effective in improving students' flexibility(p<.01), however it is not the case for improving on their originality and ability to elaborate(p>.05). We assumed that the relatively extensive portion of the writing was not suitable to improve students' ability to elaborate their ideas further as well as fostering originality. In order to improve the students' creativity and ability to elaborate, there is a need to adjust the amount of science writing, content, time.
