The estimation of time-series data is fundamental process in many data analysis cases. However, the unwanted measurement error is usually added to true data, so that the exact estimation depends on efficient method to eliminate the error components. The wavelet transform method nowadays is expected to improve the accuracy of estimation, because it is able to decompose and analyze the data in various resolutions. Therefore, the wavelet based Kalman filter method for the estimation of time-series data is proposed in this paper. The wavelet transform separates the data in accordance with frequency bandwidth, and the detail wavelet coefficient reflects the stochastic process of error components. This property makes it possible to obtain the covariance of measurement error. We attempt the estimation of true data through recursive Kalman filtering algorithm with the obtained covariance value. The procedure is verified with the fundamental example of Brownian walk process.
It is computationally expensive to compute principal components from scratch at every update or downdate when new data arrive and existing data are truncated from the data matrix frequently. To overcome this limitations, incremental principal component analysis is considered. Specifically, we present a sliding window based efficient incremental principal component computation from a covariance matrix which comprises of two procedures; simultaneous update and downdate of principal components, followed by the rank-one matrix update. Additionally we track the accurate decomposition error and the adaptive numerical rank. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm enables a faster execution speed and no-meaningful decomposition error differences compared to typical incremental principal component analysis algorithms, thereby maintaining a good approximation for the principal components.

In the direct Gun Fire Control System(GFCS), it is essential to analyze the impact of the specific error components on the hit probability to optimize the system design. For this purpose the sensitivity equations of these error components are conveniently used, but it is too difficult to get those equations for the complex system with too many system elements. Normally sensitivity analysis is performed using numerical and statistical methods for the ground combat system. This method requires much computation, and makes us difficult to estimate the sensitivity change of specific error component intuitionally for the changing operating conditions. In this paper we propose a set of sensitivity equations deriving from closed form solution of the ballistic differential equation for the bullet. They are handy equations with very little computations, easy to understand the physical meaning of the related system variables. Some simulation results are shown to demonstrate usefulness of our algorithm for the 30mm projectile.

Nowadays, it is required to apply low observable technology to weapon systems in operation or under development. Radar Cross Section(RCS) is a measure of the scattered power in an given direction when a target is illuminated by an incident wave and used as a parameter to estimate the low observable performance of weapon system. RCS of a target can be calculated by various numerical methods. However, measurement is also needed to estimate RCS of a complex target because it is difficult to estimate theoretically. To acquire reliable measurement results, an analysis of measurement uncertainty is essential. In this paper, error components and uncertainties of near-field RCS measurement system which was constructed in ASTEC(Aerospace System Test & Evaluation Center) were analyzed based on the IEEE recommended practice for radar cross-section test procedures(IEEE Std. 1502-2007) which describes the uncertainty of RCS measurement and unique error components of this near-field measurement system were also identified.

Fault currents are expressed as a combination of harmonic components and exponentially decaying DC offset components, during the occurrence of fault in power system. The DC offset components are included, when the voltage phase angle of fault inception is closer to $0^{\circ}$ or $180^{\circ}$. The digital protection relay should be detected quickly and accurately during the faults, despite of the distortions of relaying signal by these components. It is very important to implement the robust protection algorithm, that is not affected by DC offset and harmonic components, because most relaying algorithms extract the fundamental frequency component from distorted relaying signal. So, In order to high performance in relaying, advanced DC offset removal filter is required. In this paper, a new DC offset removal filter, which is no need to preset a time constant of power system and accurately estimate the DC offset components with one cycle of data, is proposed, and compared with the other filter. In order to verify performance of the filter, we used collecting the current signals after synchronous machine modeling by ATPDraw5.7p4 software. The results of simulation, the proposed DC offset removal filter do not need any prior information, the phase delay and gain error were not occurred.
In this paper, the human error contributions to the system unavailability are calculated and compared to the mechanical failure contributions. The system unavailability is a probability that a system is in the failed state at time t, given that it was the normal state at time zero. It is a function of human errors committed during maintenance and tests, component failure rates, surveillance test intervals, and allowed outage time. The THERP (Technique for Human Error Rate Prediction), generally called "HRA handbook", is used here for evaluating human error rates. This method treats the operator as one of the system components, and human reliability is assessed in the same manner as that of components. Based on the calculation results, the human error contribution to the system unavailability is shown to be more important than the mechanical failure contribution in the example system. It is also demonstrated that this method is very flexible in that it can be applied to any hazardous facilities, such as gas valve stations and chemical process plants.ss plants.
We need two operation modes to obtain the complex hologram without bias and the conjugate image in the modified triangular interferometer (MTI). To solve the problem, we proposed the optimized MTI with one wave plate, which can obtain cosine and sine functions by the combination of one wave plate and one linear polarizer. In the extraction of phase term using the combination of polarization components, the phase error occurs, and we analyzed such potential phase errors in the optimized MTI.
The hourly volatile organic compounds(VOCs) concentrations between 2005 and 2008 at Bulgwang photochemical assessment monitoring station were investigated to establish a method for quality assurance and quality control(QA/QC) procedure. Systematic error, erratic error, and random error, which was manifested by outlier and highly fluctuated data, were checked and removed. About 17.3% of the raw data were excluded according to the proposed QA/QC procedure. After QA/QC, relative standard deviation for representing 15 species concentrations decreased from 94.7-548.0% to 63.4-125.8%, implying the QA/QC procedure is proper. For further evaluation about the adequacy of QA/QC procedure, principal components analysis(PCA) was carried out. When the data after QA/QC procedure was used for PCA, the extracted principal components were different from the result from the raw data and could logically explain the major emission sources(gasoline vapor, vehicle exhaust, and solvent usage). The QA/QC procedure based on the concept of errors is inferred to proper to be applied on VOCs. However, an additional QA/QC step considering the relationship between species in the atmosphere needs to be further considered.
The permissible positioning error of the transducer used in reactor inspection must be within 10 mm. To implement the required precision it is necessary to manufacture all components affecting the positioning mechanism correctly and precisely. In addition, it is also necessary to handle error factors accurately. This paper describes the activities of the findings and corrections of the errors which were occurred in experiments. Those activities are; i) Categorization of error factors, ii) Cause analysis of errors, iii) Correction of errors founded in experiments by the analysis of laser induction type and by the validation of real measurement of horizontal, vertical baselines.
