트리즈의 모순분석을 활용한 창의적 문제해결 실습과정 (Creative Problem Solving Process using TRIZ Contradiction Analysis)

  • Many methods have been suggested for a creative problem solving approach. TRIZ approach is ranked top in its practical application because it is originated from the real patent analysis. This approach is assumed to be generic which can be applied to any types of problems regardless of problem type and its domain. The objective of this study is to propose a creative problem solving approach using TRIZ's contradiction analysis, then introduce a case study of applying this approach to a creative design coursework. Main topic covers a creative problem solving approach, a problem definition using TRIZ contradiction analysis, finding invention principles, and problem solving from the generic approach. For the course project, Roborobo tool is adopted to implement the design concept. This coursework helps students finding a general problem solving approach, and applying a generic solution for their specific problem domain.

  • ABEEK recommends convergent engineering projects to nurture creative problem-solving ability for 1st year engineering students through 'Creative Engineering Design' course. However, 1st year engineering students, who have not yet studied core subjects in engineering, have difficulties understanding and coping with the challenges posed by the engineering-related projects. For this reason, the educational objectives of this course are usually frustrating to achieve by the instructor. In this paper, by using the problem-solving process and skills of critico(-creative) thinking, we prepare guidelines for creative engineering design education that allow 1st-year students to effectively participate in engineering projects without a complete understanding of the design process which is to be studied. Also, we present a case study that applies the guidelines to an on-going creative engineering design course and discusses the outcomes by showing student-generated works. The results showed that the intuitive content and everyday expression of critico(-creative) thinking education enabled the instructor to effectively guide their students through the requirements of engineering projects without relying on advanced engineering design methods, and that the application of these guidelines also helped improve students' communication skills, including presentation. We show that the guidelines for creative engineering design education utilizing the problem-solving process and skills of critico(-creative) thinking is not only contributing to achieving the educational objectives of the creative engineering design course but can also be an educational paradigm that incorporates critico(-creative) thinking education into engineering education.

공과대학생의 팀워크역량이 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향: 창의적 인성의 매개효과 (Effects of Teamwork Competence on Problem Solving in Engineering Students: Mediating Effect of Creative Personality)

  • This paper deals with the effects of teamwork competence on problem solving ability through the mediating effect of creative personality for the engineering students. For this purpose, a regression-based statistical mediation analysis has been performed for a simple mediation model in which teamwork competence and problem solving ability were treated as independent and dependent variables respectively, and creative personality was included as a mediation variable. The analysis results showed that the teamwork competence has direct effect on the problem solving ability as well as indirect effect through the creative personality. This result implies that the problem solving ability can be improved directly by improving the teamwork competence, and moreover, it can be further improved indirectly or through the mediation effect by improving the creative personality. Thus, in order to develop excellent problem solving ability, it is necessary to form team members in a balanced way between teamwork competence and creative personality in the team-based learning.

  • The creative problem-solving becomes one of the most important cognitive skills in the engineering education. As AI and automation technology(of 4th Industrial Revolution) penetrate our everyday life, its role as a human ability is highlighted. In this paper, we examine the relation between the creative problem-solving and the critical thinking, and the usefulness of the latter in the engineering education. To sum up, the critical thinking is the pre-conditon of the creative problem-solving.

  • 전공과목과 더불어 학습자들에게 창의적인 문제 해결 능력을 교육하기 위한 창의적 사고 기법의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 실무 현장에서도 전공 능력과 창의력의 동시 함양을 강조하고 있다. 창의적 문제 해결 능력이 중요시되고 있는 상황에서 창의적 문제 해결 기법인 CPS는 빠르고 명확한 문제 해결의 가능성이 높은 기법이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 활용한 CPS는 문제의 원인을 체계적으로 정의하고 단계별 분석을 통해 명확한 아이디어를 도출할 수 있도록 하는 5단계 가이드를 제시한다. 또한, 적용범위가 넓어 실무 현장의 다양한 문제를 분석하고 명확히 평가할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 CPS 5단계를 활용하여 창의적 문제 해결 능력 배양을 위한 실습교육을 학습자들에게 제공한 결과를 바탕으로 창의적 문제 해결 능력 실습에 필요한 과정을 제안하였다.

트리즈 학습에 따른 공학적 문제해결능력 분석 (Analysis of Engineering Problem-Solving Ability by the TRIZ Learning)

  • Amonng many creative problem-solving methodologies, the TRIZ with practicality and applicability has been utilized a lot in practice and education. This research introduced the TRIZ course for engineering problem-solving training to engineering college students. Then, a survey about students' ability to solve engineering problems after the TRIZ course were analyzed statistically. Finally, problem-solving cases of industry in each team project were examined. It is proved that an understanding of the TRIZ should be confirmed on that can be applied and utilized and can be linked to well performing team projects. Therefore, it is determined that more active efforts are required for the development of TRIZ learing methods to improve the education system to help students improve comprehension for students in creative problem-solving skills.

공학분야 대학생의 창의적 문제해결에 영향을 미치는 지식융합 변인의 구조적 관계 분석 (Analysis of Structural Relationships Among Predictors of Creative Problem Solving in Engineering)

  • This study examined the impact of variables(collaboration, convergence motive, convergence thinking) on the creativity problem solving of engineering college students. 522 students among engineering colleges in Pusan and Ulsan were sampled. For the statistical analysis, analysis of covariance structure by AMOS 18.0 was applied. Results from structural equation modeling analyses indicated that a hypothesized model produced a better fit to the data than a comparative structural model. The hypothesized model shows the following results. On the basis of the hypothesized model, collaboration effected to directly convergence motive and creative problem solving, and convergence motive effected to directly convergence thinking, convergence motive effected to directly creative problem solving, convergence thinking effected to directly creative problem solving, and collaboration effected to indirectly convergence thinking by convergence motive. Therefore this study suggested the collaboration, convergence motive and convergence thinking are significantly variables to facilitate the creative problem solving for knowledge fusion in engineering.

일반계고의 창의공학설계 수업을 위한 아두이노 기반 STEAM 수업자료 개발과 적용 (Development of STEAM Instructional Materials using Arduino for Creative Engineering Design Class in High Schools and Its Application)

  • The purpose of the study was to develop the Arduino based STEAM instruction materials for creative engineering design class. PDIE model was used in this study. We developed a STEAM lesson plan and a STEAM lesson worksheet for a total of six sessions through the steps of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation. The validity of the instruction materials was evaluated by the 10 experts using a survey. The instruction materials were applied to the class (52 students attended) of the creative engineering designs unit in technology and home economics subject. The class satisfaction and the creative solving-problem ability were examined after the calss. The class satafacition was high as the average of 10 item was 4.57 (out of 5). The paired t-test was conducted to compare the means of the creative solving-problem ability. It was observed that 'understanding and mastery of knowledge, thought, function and skills in a specific domain', 'divergent thinking', 'critical and logical thinking' and ' motivational factors' were significantly increased after the class. The instruction materials develped in this study were successfully designed to enhance the creative solving-problem ability by designing creative tasks and to intrique the interest by adding visual and auditory stimuli with the Arduino.

  • The Russian theory of inventive problem solving method in Engineering, TRIZ is introduced to the non Engineering field these days. In this paper, the applications of TRIZ to creative knowledge management for knowledge creation are reviewed. This paper shows some examples on the systematic win-win problem solving in business environments using TRIZ methodology and comments the possibility of TRIZ in conceptual creative business innovation in future.

공대생들의 창의적 문제해결유형별 셀프리더십과 통제소재 (Creative Problem Solving Style, Self-leadership and Locus of Control in the Korean Engineering College Students)

  • 본 연구는 공대생들을 대상으로 창의적 문제해결유형별로 셀프리더십과 통제소재의 특성을 파악함으로써 문제해결능력과 과제수행을 증진시키고 효과적인 팀을 구성, 관리하는데 도움을 주기 위해 수행되었다. 창의적 문제해결유형의 3가지 차원(변화에 대한 지향, 일처리 방식, 의사결정의 중심)에 대해 각 차원을 구성하는 2가지 유형(혁신-개량, 외적처리-내적처리, 사람중심-과제중심)에 속하는 학생들을 분류하고, 문제해결유형과 성별에 따른 셀프리더십과 통제소재에 차이가 있는지를 알아보기 위해 이원분산분석을 실시했다. 문제해결유형의 주효과는 각 차원별로 다르게 나타났고, 성별의 주효과 및 성별과 문제해결 유형의 상호작용효과는 모든 척도에서 나타나지 않았다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언이 논의되었다.
