형광등용 안정기의 발화 및 용융흔 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Ignition and Molten Mark Analysis of Ballast for Fluorescent Lamp)

  • In this paper, we reported an outbreak of fire hazard of ballast for fluorescent lamp. The surface structure and composition of ballast coil analyzed by using metallurgical microscope, scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX). The surface of molten mark appeared columnar structure and void. EDX analysis indicated that the molten mark spectra were composed not only of the corresponding original spectra but also of several new lines.

ESEM과 EDX를 사용한 CRM 바인더의 미세구조 성분 분석 (Identification of the microstructural components of crumb rubber modified asphalt binder (CRMA) and the feasibility of using environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) coupled with energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy (EDX))

  • OBJECTIVES : In this study, microstructural components of crumb rubber modified asphalt (CRMA) binder were investigated using environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM). To clearly understand the elemental composition of the CRMA binder, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) was employed on the ESEM samples. METHODS : CRMA binders were produced using open blade mixers at $177^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. The binders were artificially aged through a series of accelerated aging processes. Sample preparation was done by making a mold shape on the glass slide. Thereafter, the morphology of the CRMA binder was observed using the ESEM coupled with the EDX. RESULTS : The images captured from the ESEM indicate that the unaged CRMA binder appears to have a single-phase continuous nonuniform structure after the addition of crumb rubber particles, whereas the artificially aged CRMA binder was observed to have two different phases. ESEM coupled with EDX shows detailed internal structure of the modified binders compared to other technologies (i.e., optical microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and conventional scanning electron microscope). CONCLUSIONS : The captured images resemble the internal structures such as the viscous properties of the unaged CRMA binder and the interaction between the rubber particles and the base binder at aged condition. ESEM is a powerful instrument and with the introduction of EDX, it provided more details of the network microstructure of the asphalt binder. ESEM coupled with EDX is recommended for use in future investigation of microstructure of asphalt binders.

Physico-Chemical Properties of Various Oxide Nanoparticles Synthesized with Electron Beam Irradiation System

  • Various oxide particles are synthesized in an ambient condition using an electron beam irradiation system. The formation of oxide particles is confirmed by FT-IR spectra results and the X-ray photoelectron spectrum. It is also shown that the morphology and size of oxide particles are significantly influenced by the type and flowrate of dilution gas. The energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis also confirms that various oxide particles are synthesized.

  • 본 연구에서는 악취가스 및 휘발성 유기 화합물을 산화 제거하기 위한 백금/티타니아를 허니컴 및 메탈폼 담체에 코팅하는 방법을 확인하였다. 다양한 방법 중 파우더 코팅과 나노 코팅에 대한 비교를 수행하였다. SEM/EDX (Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) 분석은 허니컴 및 메탈폼의 표면 상태 및 노출된 백금 성분비를 조사하는데 사용되었다. 또한, 촉매 코팅 방법에 따른 톨루엔, 트리메틸아민, 아이소프로필 알코올의 제거 성능을 비교하였다.

  • Process of the hydroxyapapite(HA) precipitation on bioactive titanium metal prepared by NaOH in a modified-simulated body fluid(mSBF) was investigated by high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) attached with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer(EDX). The amorphous titanate phase on titanium surface is form by NaOH treatment and an amorphous titanate incorporated calcium and phosphate ions in the liquid to form an amorphous calcium phosphate. With increasing of soaking time in the liquid, the HA particles are observed in amorphous calcium phosphate phase with a Ca/P atomic ratio of I.30. The octacalcium phosphate (OCP) structure is not detected in HRTEM image and electron diffraction pattern. After a long soaking time, the HA particles grow as needle-like shape on titanium surface and a large particle-like aggregates of needle-like substance were observed to form on titanium surface within needle-like shape. A long axis of needle parallels to c-direction of the hexagonal HA structure.

인산화 솔잎을 이용한 비소(As)제거 특성 (Characteristics for removal of As(V) using Phosphorylated Pine needles)

  • 솔잎의 기능기를 변형한 인산화 솔잎을 이용한 비소 제거에 관한 연구가 수행되었다. 인산화 솔잎의 표면 상태는 FT-IR, SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy) 그리고 EDX(Energy Dispersive X-ray)을 이용하여 확인하였다. 비소의 제거율은 pH 7에서 약 98%로 가장 높았다. 또한 대부분의 흡착은 교반 후 30분 내에 이루어 졌으며 비소 이온 용액의 pH는 약 pH 6.5에서 pH 2.4로 시간에 따라 감소하였다.

실리카 양 변화에 의한 난연성 실리콘 고무의 유전특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Dielectric Properties of Flame-Retardant Silicone Rubber Due to Silica Amount Change)

  • In this study, the dielectric properties of flame retardant silicone rubber mixed with the amount of silica 50~65 phr were measured at frequencies ranging from 1 to 2.7 MHz and temperature ranges from 30℃ to 160℃. The permittivity decreased with higher frequencies and higher temperatures, and tanδ are thought to have decreased due to the increased heat oxidation of the methyl group bound to Si, which increased the hardness of silicone rubber. FT-IR analysis of specimen mixed with SiO2 of 50~65 phr showed oscillations of OH groups bound to SiO2 between wavenumber 3,600 and 3,300. As a result of analyzing surface components by Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) on all specimens mixed with SiO2 of 50 to 65 phr, all specimens contained Si, and the analysis by field emission scanning electron (FE-SEM) confirmed that about 1~5 ㎛ particles were distributed regularly on the surface of the specimens.

VLS 합성법을 이용한 ZnO 나노구조의 특성 (ZnO Nanostructure Characteristics by VLS Synthesis)

  • Zinc oxide (ZnO)을 금(Au)과 fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) 촉매로 산화실리콘($SiO_2$) 기판에 산화아연입자 20 nm, $20{\mu}m$를 각각 사용하여 기체-액체-고체(VLS) 합성법으로 성장시켰다. 나노로드의 표면특성, 화학조성, 그리고 결정특성을 엑스레이회절(X-ray diffraction (XRD)), 에너지 분산형 X선 분광기(Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX)), 표면 방출주사현미경(Field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM))으로 분석하였다. ZnO의 입자 크기 뿐만 아니라 결정형태가 성장에 크게 영향을 미쳤다. ZnO의 모든 나노구조가 6방정계(六方晶系), 단일결정구조를 가지고 있었다. 최적온도는 $1030^{\circ}C$, 입자크기는 20 nm이다. 그러므로 Au 대신 플루오린 첨가 도핑으로 전기음성도가 증가된 FTO 증착에 의해서 생성된 나노로드는 경제성 있는 대체물질로서의 가치가 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • 폴리이미드에 폴리실록산 블록을 포함시키는 형태의 공중합체를 통해 내열 점착특성을 갖는 박막층을 형성하였다. 카르복시기를 포함하는 폴리이미드를 중합하여 디아미노실록산과 반응하면서 필름을 형성하는 제조방법에서 그래프트화 및 가교결합을 형성하였다. 투과전자현미경과 energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX)를 통한 모폴로지 조사에서 폴리이미드와 폴리실록산 부분은 각각 100 nm 크기의 구형 도메인과 연속상을 갖는 마이크로 상분리 구조를 갖는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) 분석에서는 공기-필름 계면에 폴리실록산 성분이 주로 노출되고 있음이 나타났다. $400^{\circ}C$까지 내열성을 갖는 폴리(이미드실록산) 박막층은 상온에서 $300^{\circ}C$까지 그 점착 특성이 유지됨을 확인하였다. 폴리이미드의 카르복시기와 아미노실록산의 그래프트화가 마이크로도메인 형성과 점착특성을 나타내는데 중요하게 작용함을 비교실험을 통해 확인하였다.

자동차 엔진용 핀부싱 베어링의 SEM/EDX 이용 성분.결함분석에 관한 연구 (SEM/EDX Analysis on the Composition and Surface Defect in a Pin Bushing Bearing for an Automotive Engine)

  • This paper presents the friction induced scuffing and wear defects analysis of a pin bushing bearing based on the chemical composition using a scanning microscopy (SEM) and an energy dispersive X-ray analyzer (EDX). The SEM/EDX system, which may provide good information on the surface thermal defects and chemical compositions, provides impurities such as an aluminum, a silicon, a ferrous component and an oxygen, especially. The EDX measured results show that the oxygen may reduce the strength and a hardness of a pin busing, which may lead to a scuffing and a seizure on the rubbing contact surface. The current technology fabricated by a sintering for a pin bushing bearing should be modified or changed to reduce the oxygen composition and the impurities in pin bushing materials.
