전기화학적 수소 압축기 기술 (A Review of Electrochemical Hydrogen Compressor Technology)

  • There is growing interest worldwide in a hydrogen economy that uses hydrogen as an energy medium instead of hydrocarbon-based fossil fuels as a way to combat climate change. Since hydrogen has a very low energy density per unit volume at room temperature, hydrogen must be compressed and stored in order to use as an energy carrier. There are mechanical and non-mechanical methods for compressing hydrogen. The mechanical method has disadvantages such as high energy consumption, durability problems of moving parts, hydrogen contamination by lubricants, and noise. Among the non-mechanical compression methods, electrochemical compression consumes less energy and can compress hydrogen with high purity. In this paper, research trends are reviewed, focusing on research papers on electrochemical hydrogen compression technology, and future research directions are suggested.

The relationship between public acceptance of nuclear power generation and spent nuclear fuel reuse: Implications for promotion of spent nuclear fuel reuse and public engagement

  • Nuclear energy sources are indispensable in cost effectively achieving carbon neutral economy, where public opinion is critical to adoption as the consequences of nuclear accident can be catastrophic. In this context, discussion on spent nuclear fuel is a prerequisite to expanding nuclear energy, as it leads to the issue of radioactive waste disposal. Given the dearth of study on spent nuclear fuel public acceptance, we use text mining and big data analysis on the news article and public comments data on Naver news portal to identify the Korean public opinion on spent nuclear fuel. We identify that the Korean public is more interested in the nuclear energy policy than spent nuclear fuel itself and that the alternative energy sources affect the position towards spent nuclear fuel. We recommend relating spent nuclear fuel issue with nuclear energy policy and environmental issues of alternative energy sources to further promote spent nuclear fuel.

  • As interest in sustainable and eco-friendly energy sources is increasing due to various problems in the carbon society, a hydrogen economy using hydrogen as a main energy source is emerging. While the natural gas reforming method generates carbon dioxide, the water electrolysis method based on renewable energy is eco-friendly. The water electrolysis device currently being developed uses a 2 Nm3/hr class alkaline aqueous solution as an electrolyte and produces hydrogen based on renewable energy.   • Global energy demand has continued to rise due to population increase and economic development. National governments and international bodies try to seek the ways to reduce the demand growth. Energy Technology Perspectives (ETP) have provided the current status of energy system, technology developments and external events that have changed ETP scenario since 2006. The status and prospects for key energy technologies of transport sector are presented. Technology portfolio for the transport sector should be needed to meet very low CO2 targets. The portfolio includes improved fuel economy of current internal combustion engine vehicles, advanced technologies such as electric and fuel-cell vehicles, advanced biofuels and demand-side management.

  • AHP analysis was carried out to derive the optimum mix weight of hydrogen energy production material presented in a "national vision of the hydrogen economy and the action plan" and aimed to be commercialized by $2030{\sim}2040$ year. Six kinds of hydrogen production materials(natural gas, spare electric energy, fleeting gas, renewable energy, coal, nuclear energy) was selected as subjects of study and the perspective of optimum mix weight was derived through AHP analysis.

수소에너지 정부 정책 동향 및 R&D 역할

  • New and renewable energy has attracted a significant attention since the Paris Agreement in 2015. Especially hydrogen energy is important for reducing greenhouse gas produced during transportation. The new government suggested that the eco-friendly vehicles, hydrogen infrastructure and the development of new and renewable energy are the major growth engines in the future. Hydrogen energy is also concerned as the main part of our economy in the national affairs. In the policy of Mission Innovation Strategy and the third Eco-Friendly Vehicle Master Plan, government presents the status, future direction, technical road map and distribution road map of hydrogen energy. With this trend, investments in the research and development on hydrogen and fuel cells have expanded and will continue to expand for the implementation of the policy. The cost reduction, technical innovation and the increase in the localization rate are required for the new and renewable energy, including hydrogen energy, to become the future growth engine.

Fuel-Flexible Anode Architecture for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

  • This paper provides an overview of the trends and future directions in the development of anode materials for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) using hydrocarbons as fuel, with the aim of enabling a decentralized energy supply. Hydrocarbons (such as natural gas and biogas) offer promising alternatives to traditional energy sources, as their use in SOFCs can help meet the growing demands for energy. We cover several types of materials, including perovskite structures, high-entropy alloys, proton-conducting ceramic materials, anode on-cell catalyst reforming layers, and anode functional layers. In addition, we review the performance and long-term stability of cells based on these anode materials and assess their potential for commercial manufacturing processes. Finally, we present a model for enhancing the applicability of fuel cell-based power generation systems to assist in the realization of the H2 economy as the best practice for enabling distributed energy. Overall, this study highlights the potential of SOFCs to make significant progress toward a sustainable and efficient energy future.

수소에너지의 승용차부문 도입에 따른 CO2 배출 감축 및 비용효과 분석 연구 (An Analysis on CO2 Emission and Cost Effects of Hydrogen Energy in Sedan Sector)

  • As one of the alternative solution for energy and environmental issues such as climate change, energy security, oil price, etc., hydrogen energy has been getting so much attentions these days. This paper analyzed the $CO_2$ emission, costs, and energy consumptions when the hydrogen energy was introduced to transportation, specifically in Sedan sector using the energy system model, MARKAL. As results, 21.5% of $CO_2$ emission in 2040 could be reduced and additional 76 billion dollars will be needed in the high energy price scenario. The amount of energy saving mainly due to the replacement of existing car to hydrogen vehicle was 16% of the final energy consumption in 2040.

RPS 도입의 경제적 효과 (Economic Impact Analysis of the Introduction of RPS)

  • RPS(Renewable Portfolio Standards)제도는 시장기능을 통하여 전력생산의 일정 양 또는 비율을 신재생에너지로 충당하도록 의무화함으로써 신재생에너지의 보급을 활성화하는 제도이다. 본 논문은 RPS제도의 국내 도입이 전력시장, 개별 산업부문 및 경제 전체에 어떤 영향을 미칠 것인가를 검토하였다. 의무비율을 채우지 못하거나 과다충족한 경우 각 해당부분을 대상사업자로부터 구매하거나 또는 대상사업자에게 판매할 수 있는 TREC(Tradable Renewable Energy Credits)시장과 RPS제도 실시에 따른 추가적인 공급비용이 유발하는 소비자의 추가비용을 판단할 수 있는 소매시장을 분석하여 최종소매가격과 공급량의 변화를 살펴보았다. 끝으로 RPS제도 도입에 따른 전력가격의 상승과 공급의 변화가 국민경제에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 주요 결과를 보면, 2011년 기준으로 전력가격의 용도별 평균치는 약 5% 정도 상승, 부문별 물가는 평균 0.268% 상승, 그리고 부문별 GDP는 평균 1.940% 감소하여 물가상승효과는 작은 반면 GDP 감소효과는 큰 것으로 나타났다.

  • Recently, Increase of energy consumption is continued accordingly because economy is constant growth. so we need long term of energy supply stability and develop new energy source. The effort of environmental improvement is necessary and our country has to educe conservatory gas in these situation, our energy policy is summarized that minimizes energy consumption and uses kinds of energy source. This paper studied some effort of stability that distributed generation put in electric system through line fault, sudden load change. And then this paper calculated penetrated level of distributed generation in system transient stability.
