This note gives a combinatorial treatment to the problem finding a generating set among conjugating automorphisms of a free group and to the method deciding when a conjugating endomorphism of a free group is an automorphism. Our group of pseudo-conjugating automorphisms can be thought of as a generalization of the artin's braid group.

This paper consider the Jacobian variety of a hyperelliptic curve over a finite field with the formal structure of the mixed type. We present the Newton polygon of the characteristic polynomial of the Frobenius endomorphism of the Jacobian variety. It gives an useful tool for finding the local decomposition of the Jacobian variety into isotypic components.

Let G be a group and $\mathbb{C}$ the field of complex numbers. Suppose ${\sigma}:G{\rightarrow}G$ is an endomorphism satisfying ${{\sigma}}({{\sigma}}(x))=x$ for all x in G. In this paper, we first determine the central solution, f : G or $G{\times}G{\rightarrow}\mathbb{C}$, of the functional equation $f(xy)+f({\sigma}(y)x)=2f(x)+2f(y)$ for all $x,y{\in}G$, which is a variant of the quadratic functional equation. Using the central solution of this functional equation, we determine the general solution of the functional equation f(pr, qs) + f(sp, rq) = 2f(p, q) + 2f(r, s) for all $p,q,r,s{\in}G$, which is a variant of the equation f(pr, qs) + f(ps, qr) = 2f(p, q) + 2f(r, s) studied by Chung, Kannappan, Ng and Sahoo in [3] (see also [16]). Finally, we determine the solutions of this equation on the free groups generated by one element, the cyclic groups of order m, the symmetric groups of order m, and the dihedral groups of order 2m for $m{\geq}2$.

Let R be a ring with an endomorphism $\sigma$ and a derivation $\delta$. An ideal I of R is ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-ideal of R if $\sigma(I){\subseteq}I$ and $\delta(I){\subseteq}I$. An ideal P of R is a ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-prime ideal of R if P(${\neq}R$) is a ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-ideal and for ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-ideals I and J of R, $IJ{\subseteq}P$ implies that $I{\subseteq}P$ or $J{\subseteq}P$. An ideal Q of R is ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-semiprime ideal of R if Q is a ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-ideal and for ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-ideal I of R, $I^2{\subseteq}Q$ implies that $I{\subseteq}Q$. The ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-prime radical (resp. prime radical) is defined by the intersection of all ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-prime ideals (resp. prime ideals) of R and is denoted by $P_{(\sigma,\delta)}(R)$(resp. P(R)). In this paper, the following results are obtained: (1) $P_{(\sigma,\delta)}(R)$ is the smallest ($\sigma,\;\delta$)-semiprime ideal of R; (2) For every extended endomorphism $\bar{\sigma}$ of $\sigma$, the $\bar{\sigma}$-prime radical of an Ore extension $P(R[x;\sigma,\delta])$ is equal to $P_{\sigma,\delta}(R)[x;\sigma,\delta]$.

P. M. Cohn called a ring R reversible if whenever ab = 0, then ba = 0 for a, $b\;{\in}\;R$. Commutative rings and reduced rings are reversible. In this paper, we extend the reversible condition of a ring as follows: Let R be a ring and $\alpha$ an endomorphism of R, we say that R is right (resp., left) $\alpha$-shifting if whenever $a{\alpha}(b)\;=\;0$ (resp., $\alpha{a)b\;=\;0$) for a, $b\;{\in}\;R$, $b{\alpha}{a)\;=\;0$ (resp., $\alpha(b)a\;=\;0$); and the ring R is called $\alpha$-shifting if it is both left and right $\alpha$-shifting. We investigate characterizations of $\alpha$-shifting rings and their related properties, including the trivial extension, Jordan extension and Dorroh extension. In particular, it is shown that for an automorphism $\alpha$ of a ring R, R is right (resp., left) $\alpha$-shifting if and only if Q(R) is right (resp., left) $\bar{\alpha}$-shifting, whenever there exists the classical right quotient ring Q(R) of R.

Koblitz 타원곡선에서 스칼라 곱을 효율적으로 구현하기 위하여 프로베니우스 자기준동형 (Frobenius endomorphism)이 유용하게 사용된다. 스칼라 곱 연산시 스칼라를 이진 전개하는 대신에 프로베니우스 확장을 사용하여 고속연산을 가능하게 할 수 있으며 따라서 연산의 속도는 확장길이와 밀접한 관계가 있다. 본 논문은 스칼라의 프로베니우스 확장길이를 줄임으로써 스칼라 곱의 고속연산을 가능하게 하는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 타원곡선의 위수를 노름(Norm)으로 갖는 원소대신 큰 소수 위수를 노름으로 갖는 원소를 사용하여 프로베니우스 확장길이를 최적화시키는 이 방법은 Solinas, Smart가 제안한 방법보다 프로베니우스 확장길이를 더 감소시킬 수 있다.

In this paper, we study the rationality of the Reidemeister zeta function of an endomorphism of a group extension. As an application, we give sufficient conditions for the rationality of the Reidemeister and the Nielsen zeta functions of selfmaps on an exponential solvmanifold or an infra-nilmanifold or the coset space of a compact connected Lie group by a finite subgroup.
