This study starts from the perspective that preparing students for employment is the most important role of undergraduate degree programs. Therefore, we examine the determinants of undergraduate employment, especially highlighting the differences by disciplines. We classify 28 factors into five categories such as personal attributes, entrance attributes, students’ employment-related activities, regular curriculum and employability programs provided by universities. This study is based on data from 7,616 students from a Korean university over four and half years. Findings reveal that university efforts are crucial in engineering. Only exchange programs and employment programs have an impact on science. There are no specific factors in humanities and social science. Grade point average and students’ efforts are important in business. Face-to-face coaching in employability support programs is effective for securing employment except in science disciplines. The study results do not point to the absence of a role of university even in the low employment disciplines. Rather, the issue is that of an over-supply of graduates exceeding job offers that results from the worldwide expansion of higher education services.
This study examines the employability of participants and employment outcomes in the Korean active labor market policies(ALMPs). The data used in empirical testing is Korea Labor and Income Panel Study 1~15th survey data, participants database in ALMPs and Unemployment Insurance database. The main results are as follows. Level of employability in participants with ALMPs is about 56.3 and that of participants with direct job creation(DJC) programs shows the most low level in sub-type of ALMPs. About 30.8% of all people participating in ALMPs belongs to vulnerable group and 71.5% of participants in DJC programs is in vulnerable group. In DJC programs, the participants with low level of employability are some more likely to be in vulnerable group. As the level of employability in participants with DJC programs increases, their job-search time after moved in labor market reduces and their duration of employment increases. To summarize, one can imply that the DJC programs are effective to transit vulnerable groups in labour market and improve the labor market outcomes by enhancing the employability of participants.

Recently, universities are being requested to educate a wider range of technical and social skills in order to respond to the government's policy for promoting youth employment and the industrial demand arising from social changes. Accordingly, field practice at universities is being further strengthened. It is important to analyze whether the work experience and information that students gained through field practice can improve their confidence in their career path, and can serve as a motive for not only employment but also start-up after graduation. In this study, the motivational aspect which leads to action by improving students' confidence in their career path is investigated. In addition, the influence of field practice experience on employability and entrepreneurial intention is also analyzed by setting a self-directed career attitude as a variables. The results of this study are as follows. First, the field practice experience of college students has a significant effect on employability, but does not directly affect their entrepreneurial intention. Second, it is confirmed that the higher the self-directed career attitude of students with experience of field practice has a positive (+) effect on the employability. Third, the higher the self-directed career attitude has also a positive (+) effect on entrepreneurial intention. This study shows the influence of field practice on employability and entrepreneurial intention beyond the limit of the existing research that was divided into employment and start-up. Theoretical basis for analyzing whether universities can achieve practical results simultaneously in government policy for employment and start-up is also provided.
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing vocational training participation among individuals aged 65 and older in order to enhance their employability. According to the research findings, the educational background and economic activity status of the elderly significantly impact their participation in vocational training. It was confirmed that economic activity and vocational training are closely related to the capacity development and increased employability of the elderly. Moreover, a considerable number of elderly individuals express a continued desire to work, and this group tends to participate more in vocational training. This underscores the importance of promoting vocational training among the elderly and developing suitable models, which holds significant policy implications. Logistic regression analysis revealed that gender, education, economic activity, desire to work, and pension income affect participation in vocational training. This highlights the necessity of formulating specific strategies in government support policies, particularly for those with lower educational backgrounds. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance of approaches that encourage vocational training participation, especially among those with lower pension income.
