  • In this paper, propagation and damping characteristics of PD Pulse in GIS are analyzed using SNM. These characteristics are very important to make a diagnosis and protection of accident in GIS. SNM is numerical method in time domain and very useful method to analyze 3-Dimensional structure such as GIS. GIS modeling is made simply as the form of coaxial cable and then spacers are inserted in it. The scattering and reflection in the GIS are appeared and damping characteristics of PD pulse are shown. When simulation using SNM compare to measurement, two results are similar.

  • High-Smokestacks have been the symbol of the thermal power plant. Those cause the thermal power plant to be damaged by lightening for reaching several hundreds meter. In this paper, we investigated the accident of low-voltage source circuit due to grounding potential rise by lightening via high-smokestack in practically driving power plant, described examination into the cause and the impulse analysis. We analysed the transient voltage by EMTP(ElectroMagnetic Transient Program) via modeling the grounding system of power plant. This theoretical results coincided with practical accidental state. Therefore, it was verified that we could apply the grounding system of power plant and substation with the distribution-circuit analysis(EMTP).

  • Recently, power system has a trend of sustaining increase of power demand and large-sized system. Also, consumers has required a high reliability for the power quality in deregulated power industry. For power system operator, the accurate decision for situations of power systems and the ability of the management for the faults are required. Therefore, in this paper we presents the development of simulator which can train the process of the recovery and the decision of contingency in the case of the occurrence of faults for generation, transmission, and distribution facilities.

  • This paper proposes an arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) using the distorted voltage wave in electric arc faults. It perceives a voltage instantaneously at the time of voltage drop. and occurrence. It is an AFCI of the new concept which operates with high reliability. The primary reason of electric fire is arc and spark. It prevents an electric fire or an electric leakage accident with quick responsiveness. Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker(ELB), Molded_case Circuit Breaker (MCCB) or Residual Current Protective Device(RCD) can not cut off electric arc or spark to be a major factor of electrical fire. This theory will be able to intercept an arc or a spark. which occurrence with periodic. Consequently It raises a reliability and validates a practicality of RCD.

  • Recently, the insulation breakdown accident happened at 6.6kV inverter driving motor brings out the reliability decrease to the motor driving system. We need to find the solution with system engineering level. The objectives of this study are developing the appropriate filter for the drive to protect the motor and the insulation system of motor which is driven by inverter. The circuit parameters of cable are calculated by EMTP(Electromagnetic Transient Program) to simulate the system. And we use MATLAB to find the appropriate filter parameter. The simulation and the test results are compared to verify the suitability of the filter parameter. We clarify the cause of the deterioration of the inverter driving motor through the analysis of insulation breakdown accidents. The endurance test scheme and the configuration method of insulation system are established.

  • The forced drainage set up to decrease the cathodic protection in each kind of steel conduit laid under the ground is so proscribed to be maintained less than 60V in its output voltage that insulation coordination is easy to be left out of account, on the basis of 60V of working voltage. When railway or subway break down during the service of a subway, 1,500 voltage approximating to line voltage flows through the load terminal of the drainage (rail and underground conduit) though momentary in the worst case. And so, an accident followed by dielectric breakdown, fire and damage by a fire is expected. Therefore, I suggest that insulation coordination should be considered against such a thing on designing, producing and setting up forced drainage.

  • The automotive environment presents to the FMCW radar sensor a multitude of moving and fixed targets and the sensor must detect and track only the targets which may pose a threat of collision or passengers accident. The sensor must function accurately in the presence of background echoes generated by moving and fixed targets, ground reflections, atmospheric noises, including rains, fog, and, snow and noise generated within the receiver. False detection of the desired target in this environment may issue false alarms. That may be dangerous to the passenger and the vehicle. A high false alarm rate is totally unacceptable. The false alarm mechanism consists of noise peaks, crossing the threshold and the undesired response of the system to off lane targets which are not potentially hazardous to the radar equipped vehicle. This paper presents an improve technique safety performance for driver-less operation using FMCW radar sensors.

  • The induced voltage of underground pipelines caused by the stray current not only do harm to workers and instruments. but also cause big accident such as gas explosion. The AC stray current is mainly produced by the grounding system of the 22.9kV distribution power system and the DC stray current is mainly produced by the subway system. The mechanism of AC and DC induction, stray current failure examples of domestic and foreign countries and the countermeasure of the AC and DC induction are described.

A highly probable reason why these electric accidents happen is that workers are used to skip confirming disconnection of electricity when they work. It is mostly because they have little understanding of electricity. To overcome this, various applications such as 'electric detecting stick' are invented to check existence of electricity on working environment. But, they have not been popular due to inconvenience of carrying. So, we made a new instrument. It is a kind of nipper on which electric detecter is installed. Detecting existence of electricity is less burdensome via this tool we made.
