This paper proposes an efficient hardware implementation of SPIHT(Set Partitoning In Hierarchical Tree) algorithm for image compression with the discrete wavelet transform. An efficient technique to scan the coefficients which are located in partitioned spatial orientation trees by DWT is considered in terms of counter fields for sorting pass and refinement pass. The proposed image compression method using SPIHT has been modeled in VHDL and has been implemented by use of both TMS320C6000 as a DSP and Virtex2 as a Xilinx FPGA.

With the recent proliferation of memory-intensive workloads such as deep learning, analyzing memory access characteristics for efficient memory management is becoming increasingly important. Since read and write operations in memory access have different characteristics, an efficient memory management policy should take into accountthe characteristics of thesetwo operationsseparately. Although some previous studies have considered the different characteristics of reads and writes, they require a modified hardware architecture supporting read bits and write bits. Unlike previous approaches, we propose a software-based management policy under the existing memory architecture for considering read/write characteristics. The proposed policy logically partitions memory space into the read/write area and the write area by making use of reference bits and dirty bits provided in modern paging systems. Simulation experiments with memory access traces show that our approach performs better than the CLOCK algorithm by 23% on average, and the effect is similar to the previous policy with hardware support.

In this paper, we propose an interface design for helping users to utilize a statistical analysis program efficiently. This interface design is useful to suggest which statistical method to use and to provide the result by linking data file to the statistical analysis program in a user friendly way. In chapter 2, we explain the overall structure and modules of the interface.

This paper presents the better efficient evaluation of the Small and Medium Enterprises by use of fuzzy multi-criteria decision making methodology under intersectional dependence relations. The five Small and Medium Enterprises alternative will be evaluated by Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process(FAHP) based on entropy weight in this study. A case study is presented to illustrate the use of entropy weight measurement with intersectional dependence problems. These problems are evaluated seven criteria : market criteria, thchnology criteria, management ability criteria, planning criteria, propulsion ability criteria, project propulsion basis criteria, propulsion result criteria.

This research proposes an effective analytical methodology for vertical vibration of three dimensional frame structures including slabs. The consideration of slabs, although allows more precise results, requires large amount of computer time and memory space due to the use of plane stress elements. In consideration of these problems, a method to properly manage nodal points and degrees of freedom is proposed based on matrix condensation technique. Also studied is the use of substructure method to obtain fast and reliable results with simple input data when they are applied to conventional building structures.

Photon mapping is an efficient global illumination technique for realistic image synthesis that has been developed in computer graphics. In this paper, an adaptive photon mapping in the use of automatic differentiation is proposed. Since the automatic differentiation is used when photons emit from the light sources through the scene, we can check the variation of surrounding shape. Therefore, we can decrease the number of photons and generate an image in relatively low computational cost.

In this paper, we propose handoff scheme for BT(Bluetooth) IP and define signaling for the handoff scheme. In local area, BT IP use the concept of Cellular IP and the operation property of Bluetooth system. In case of accessing external internet, use the concept of Mobile IP. IP-based Mobility of Bluetooth Terminal provides efficient and rapid mobility in local area and flexibility on the internet.

In late of the 1980's, dramatic increase in water use caused over-exploitation of groundwater and deterioration of water quality in urban areas. To monitor quantity of groundwater resources and their qualities, local groundwater monitoring networks were established. Groundwater resources in urban areas are affected by various human activities including underground building construction (subway), pumping for water use, and pavements. Detailed analysis of the monitored groundwater data would provide some good implications for optimal and efficient management for groundwater resources in the urban area.

본 논문에서는 효율적인 홀로그래픽 데이타 저장을 위해, 세기변조를 통한 2차원 이진데이타를 표현함에 있어서 가변적이고 이산적인 랜덤 위상마스크를 함께 사용하는 방법을 연구했다. 가변 위상 마스크는 twisted nematic LCD를 사용해 구현했다.
