A Combined DEA-BSC methodology for evaluating organizational efficiency (DEA와 BSC 기법을 이용한 조직 효율성 비교에 대한 연구)

  • The balanced scorecard(BSC) overcomes the limit of traditional financial statement that focuses on only financial performance. BSC is widely used in government and industry because of the clear representation of the relationship and logic between the key performance indicators(KPI) of 4 perspectives - financial, customer, internal process, and loaming and growth. However, traditional BSC does not consider evaluating the difference between the results measured by BSC. By using relatively small number of inputs and outputs In comparing decision-making units, data envelopment analysis(DEA) can aggregate multiple performance measures. In this research, we propose a methodology named CDB(Combined DEA and BSC) to evaluate the performance of organization considering financial and non-financial perspectives. CDB uses KPI of cause-and-effect relationship on BSC as inputs and outputs of DEA method. In addition, this research proposes a method of converting the KPI of BSC to the input and output variables of DEA, and enhancing discrimination power using the limit number of variables. We illustrate the methodology by giving an example of evaluating aquisition-unit efficiency in a supply chain.

  • Owing to the current economic downturn, one of the most important goals of the organizations who are actively involved in Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) is the cost efficiency. We focus on supplier firm's domain understanding to make the cost efficiency; therefore, we examine how the disadvantages from lower domain knowledges affect outsourcing performance moderated by outsourcing ratio and knowledge change environments. That is, if clients can endure disadvantage from service providers' lower domain knowledge, they can achieve cost efficiency by choosing lower domain knowledge suppliers with less expensive cost. To examine performance gap depending on the environments, we applied 'A Learning Model of IT Outsourcing' which is suggested by previous literature. As a result, we suggest five strategies for clients to contract with suppliers which have lower domain knowledge: (1) Prepare the strategy to endure disadvantages from the early stage. (2) Make the strategy depending on outsourcing ratio. (3) Knowledge transfer between organizations is important. (4) Make a short-term contract if they do not have good environments for organizational learning. (5) Client's knowledge change environments are more important than those of supplier's. Finally, we offer various implications for clients and suppliers in IT outsourcing.

  • Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) are also essential to the efficiency of airports and the airline industry. With the increasing volume of traffic, managing flights is a complex and sometimes very stressful job. ATC is using radar and other technology to track planes 'en route' between airports and keep in touch with pilots. Alternatively, ATCs are liaising with the planes on approach. However, ATC's working condition is getting more stressful, as the volume of air traffic increases. Thus this paper tried to research cognitive emotional regulation, job satisfaction, and job involvement and organizational committment of ATCs under the stressful work condition, taking care of safety of a couple of hundreds passengers per plane. Using CERQ survey sheet (Cognitive Emotional Regulation Questionnaire), it was found out that positive thinking and acceptance of self-blame have a significant impact on job satisfaction, work absorption and organizational Loyalty.

  • Member's perception toward organizational climate is an concept but generally it has been used in the meaning of Organizational climate by members, in an attempt to give an idea of what kind of meaning an organization can have from a psychological point of view to its members. This thesis insists Individual attitudes in the organization be changed characteristics of organization and individual who percepts the organization, one the basis of Organization climate effects individual attitudes directly and indirectly, and objective of the study is to verify the dependence of cause and effect between organization climate and job satisfaction and performance with manufacturing firms within Gumi National Industrial Complex. As a result, to promote the effectiveness and efficiency of the enterprise, firstly, we have to set an appropriate objectives within the organization, Secondly, the manager should recognize the controversial issue be solved in public. Lastly, the members should be inspired loyalty into their organization.

Influence of Organizational Fairness Perceived by Revenue Officers on Empowerment and Employee Efforts (세무공무원이 지각하는 조직공정성이 임파워먼트와 종업원노력에 미치는 영향)

  • This study empirically analyzed how the organizational fairness perceived by revenue officers affect the empowerment and employee efforts. The result of the analysis revealed that as for job fairness, distribution fairness and interaction fairness, with the exception of process fairness, have significant influence on the empowerment while the empowerment, in turn, has significant influence on the employee efforts. This finding confirms that a high level of organizational fairness perceived by revenue officers in their job processes results in a high level of empowerment, which then produces heightened employee efforts, eventually contributing to the efficiency of revenue officers' job performance and the improvement of satisfaction with service quality. Therefore, it is necessary that administrators of revenue offices allow their subordinates to develop their potentials by empowering the employees and delegating authority.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine under what conditions suggestion programs conducted by organizations actually increase individual perception of their work effectiveness. Specifically, this study looks into the effects of cooperation perception and relational demography of employee on work effectiveness of suggestion programs. It does this by focusing on the interaction effect of organizational commitment. Research design, data and methodology: Data was collected from 1,872 participants who took part in the suggestion program of HCCP 6th DATA. This data was subjected to multiple regression analysis. Results: a) higher employee cooperation perception enhances work effectiveness of suggestion program, but relational difference of knowledge diversity between team members has no effect on work efficiency; b) Positive effect of cooperation perception, and difference in education level on work effectiveness become greater as commitment increases. However, organizational commitment decreases the positive effect of difference in organizational tenure on work effectiveness by suggestion program. Conclusion: The results point to the importance of broadening the current conceptual models of employee work effectiveness of suggestion program to include relational demography, as well as the utility of conducting additional cross-level research on suggestion programs.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of the organizational characteristic and workers characteristics of Family Business Organization on its Business Performance. The subjects of this study were workers of healthy family support centers and multicultural family support centers. A survey was conducted from July 30th to September 30th. A total 372 materials were used for analysis of final data and SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) WIN 18.0 program was employed in analyzing the collected data. As the result of analysing the effect of organizational characteristics and culture and characteristics of workers on business performance through hierarchical regression analysis, higher performance was achieved when the agency's organizational culture has the characteristics of a developed culture, and when the operating body is a school principal corporation rather than a non-profit corporation, and in the city rather than farming town, having enough information and external resources at the center, and when the job satisfaction of workers are high, and when organizational culture is more hierarchical. There were difference in the result of analysing the effect of organizational characteristic and culture and characteristic of workers on business performance. The level of service and business value of Family Service Organization was higher when the agency's organizational culture has the characteristics of a developed culture, hierarchical culture and agreement culture, and when operating body is a school principal corporation rather than a non-profit corporation, having enough information and external resources at the center, and the administrative skills of workers are higher. Business volume is increased when the operating body is a school principal corporation rather than a non-profit corporation, and in the city rather than farming town, and when the agency's organizational culture has the characteristics of hierarchical culture and agreement culture, having enough external resources at the center, and the practicing ability of workers are higher. When it comes to business efficiency, it is increased when the agency's organizational culture has the characteristics of developed culture and the job satisfaction of workers are high, having enough external and financial resources at the center. Therefore we will need to enhance business performance through improved management and job satisfaction of employees in organizational culture.

  • This study was carried out in order to verify the influence that recognition was mad to organization commitment, organizational culture type leadership of a social welfare organization. The study object a total Part 456 was used to analysis as social worker engaged in to social welfare agency. It was for an independent variable to revolutionized leadership, exchanged leadership as leadership type, and it was organizational culture an mediator variable, analyzed correlation of organization commitment, analysis return in order to grasp an influence to be mad to organization commitment material leadership type, executed path analysis so that direct and indirect effect being mad to organization commitment organizational culture through leadership type. Result of research, A total effect to affect regarding organization commitment, there is most a lot of revolutionized leadership, affected that organization culture appeared group culture of an organization, exchanged leadership, development culture. A leader of a social welfare organization shall improve self-participation and business efficiency voluntary of an employee through revolutionized leadership, in order to improve organization commitment of an employee, this leadership types had to improve organization commitment of an employee as group culture of an organization.

A Study on Organizational Model Design for Organization Diagnosis and Operation Improvement of Public Libraries: The Case of Gimhae Public Library (공공도서관의 조직 진단 및 운영 개선을 위한 조직모델 설계 연구 - 김해시 공공도서관을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to design an organizational model to improve the operation of the Gimhae Municipal Library through diagnosis and analysis of its organization. For this purpose, a new organizational model for the Library was designed while reconstruction of the human resource of each unit library was proposed according to the reorganization through research methods such as literature research, case study, FGI survey, etc. The organizational model was eventually designed with three alternatives: an organization for integration of related tasks, one for enhancement of policy function and finally one for improvement of administrative efficiency. We have found that it is the most empirical to measure required number of personnel by 'comparison of benchmarked local governments' method as a result of calculating the required number of staffs of the Library based on macro and micro approach; thus the appropriate number of staff of each unit library was worked out.

  • This study aims to explore the casual relation between construction company employees' Self-Leadership and two variables: Organization Citizenship Behaviour and Organizational Trust through Psychology Empowerment. To explain in details, this study examines how the independent variable, Self Leadership, with its behavior-focused, natural reward and constructive thought pattern strategies, affects the dependent variable, Organization Citizenship Behavior and Organizational Trust through the intervening variable, Psychology Empowerment. A survey was conducted on current employees of construction companies in metropolitan areas to empirically examine the research model. The result of study hypothesis on Self-Leadership is as follows; first, Self-Leadership showed a positive effect on Psychology Empowerment, Organization Citizenship Behaviour and Organizational Trust. Second, Psychology Empowerment showed a positive effect on Organization Citizenship Behaviour. Third, Psychology Empowerment showed a positive effect on Organizational Trust. The capacity of individuals is critical when it comes to competitiveness of construction companies. When employees willingly participate in building trust within the company, the work place will become more and more constructive; based on trust, efficiency will increase because people from different processes can work together and performance will also improve even when project managers are absent because others could help their role instead, thus driving more efficient human resource management to the company. To conclude, a company's vision can be spread wide and far when their employees engage themselves in Learning Organization with Self Leadership. They will also be satisfied with their work through improving interpersonal relationship at work.
