A Study on Economy Effects of ICT Industry on Transportation Industry -For Convergence of ICT and Transportation- (정보통신산업이 운송산업에 미치는 경제적 효과에 관한 연구 -정보통신과 운송의 융합을 위한-)

  • This study investigates effects of hardware and telecommunication and software service divided by ICT service on each 5 transportations to explore convergence of ICT and Transportation. Research models are production inducing effects, Added Value inducing effects of Demand-Driven model and Shortage cost effects of Supply-Driven model by using data for 2010~2012 of Input-Output Table. Results are that network and software service effects are more impact than hardware effects on transportations. Especially, hardware is impacted heavily on production inducing effect, telecommunications and software services has had a significant impact on the production inducing effect and Shortage cost effects. In addition, by each detail the transportation industries, packages and other transport and road transport is influenced greatly from ICT. On the other hand, rail and water transport are relatively lower impact by ICT, However, the effects of rail and water transport by ICT is grater than investment ratio of ICT. As a result, increasing investment in the ICT services could contribute to development of rail and water transport development.

  • ICT environments without limitations of time and space have been used for various purposes such as advertisement and marketing in various businesses. However, in the case of small businesses, some of small businesses have not used ICT environments for their business purposes or have not known how-to-use. In this point, this study is to understand the differences of ICT business effect between ICT usage and non-usage group. And then, it suggests the road map for the usage of SNS and ICT environments in small businesses.

Effect of ICT Capital on the Demands for Labor and Energy in Major Industries of Korea, US, and UK (ICT 자본 투입이 노동 및 에너지 수요에 미치는 영향: 한국, 미국, 영국의 제조업 및 전기·가스·수도사업의 생산구조 비교)

  • We investigate the effect of ICT capital on the demands for labor and energy in manufacturing and electricity gas water industries of Korea, US, and UK. Assuming ICT capital, non-ICT capital, labor, electricity, fuel, and material as input factors for manufacturing and ICT capital, non-ICT capital, labor and energy material as input factors for electricity gas water industry, we estimate the Morishima elasticities of substitution. Considering the relative price changes of input factors, ICT capital has substituted labor in manufacturing and electricity water gas industries of the three countries. ICT capital has substituted both electricity and fuel in US and UK manufacturing. Although ICT capital has substituted electricity and fuel each other in Korean manufacturing, ICT capital is unlikely to decrease the demands for electricity and fuel when considering their relative price changes. ICT capital has substituted energy material in electricity gas water industries of the three countries.

The Impact of Development and Government Expenditure for Information and Communication Technology on Indonesian Economic Growth

  • Purpose - This research is aimed to investigate the impact of the Information and Communication Technology (hereinafter ICT) development index and ICT investment on Indonesian economic growth. Research design, data and methodology - The data used consist of ICT development index, government expenditure on ICT sector, and economic growth from 33 provinces in Indonesia from 2012 to 2015. Based on the Networked Readiness Index published by the World Economic Forum (WEF), Indonesia was ranked 80th among 142 countries in 2012 and had climbed 64th in 2014. This indicates that the businesses in Indonesia have adopted ICTs to increase productivity and expand their activities. Panel data regression analysis is performed to reveal the change of the impact over time in each of the provinces. Result - The ICT development index and government expenditure for ICT have a positive effect on the economic growth of all provinces, although the impact is different in each of the provinces. There is a digital gap between the provinces, especially the large digital gap occurring with DKI Jakarta. The provinces of Eastern Indonesia such as NTT and Papua are still relatively slow in development of ICT. Conclusions - ICT development index and allocation of local government expenditure for ICT have significant effect on economic growth. ICT development index has a bigger role in increasing economic growth.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors of performance - based HR system that Korean ICT firms use and to analyze the effect of performance - based HR system on organizational culture. To do this, we conducted literature surveys and set up research models and hypotheses that performance - based personnel systems will affect organizational culture. We also added the moderating effect of LMX on the relationship between these variables. For the empirical analysis, a questionnaire survey was conducted for ICT companies member in Daegu and Kyungbuk area. Multiple regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted to test hypotheses. As a result, performance - based personnel system has a significant effect on organizational culture. In particular, we found that LMX has a moderating effect on hierarchical culture and collective culture. These results will contribute to enhance competitiveness and to create new core competencies of ICT firms.

  • This study is a survey of people who are return to farming on the intention of accepting ICT convergence technology in agriculture. The research targets were 218 people based on convenience and judgment sampling methods, and the exploratory factor analysis and multiple return analysis were performed with SPSS 22.0. As a result, the independent variables such as performance expectation, effort expectation, and social influence had a positive effect on the acceptance intention of ICT convergence technology in agriculture. In addition, the moderating effects of innovation resistance on these influence relationships were also verified. The limitations of this study are the lack of verification of perception changes and the inability to control variables. As a result of this research, the results of the UTAUT in other fields were confirmed in this study. It is hoped that this study will further facilitate the research of agriculture in ICT convergence technology.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of learner's characteristics on the student's achievement in Information Communication Technology (ICT) teaching-learning environment. The subjects of this study were a total of 140 8th students in middle school in Taejeon province. The methods of teaching were the ICT teaching-learning, Academic achievement test. the learning style inventory. self-concept test and cognitive style test were used as the instruments to determine the effect. Such statistical analyses as the pearson co-relation, multi regression and t-test through SPSS WIN version 11.0 were used to determine the relationship between learner's characteristics and student's achievement. The results of this study were as follows: first, learner's emotional and social factor of learning style influenced positively the student's academic achievement in ICT teaching-learning environment. Second. learner's academic factor of self-concept had an positive influence on the student's academic achievement in ICT teaching-learning environment. Third, there were differences of student's academic achievements according to the student's cognitive style in ICT teaching-learning environment.

The Causal Relationship between ICT Growth and Employment in Korea (한국의 ICT산업의 발전과 고용 간의 인과관계에 관한 실증적 분석)

  • From the success of TDX and CDMA to today's social media boom, Korea's ICT has achieved an amazing growth for the last couple of decades. However, in spite of ICT's role as an engine of growth in Korea, there have been concerns that ICT growth would negatively affect national employment due to the labor substitution effect. While some scholars insist that ICT would positively affect employment because it will enlarge the size of industry itself, many people blame ICT as a main culprit of rising unemployment rates. In this study, we try to empirically find the true effect of ICT growth on employment in Korea. We use the data of ICT productions, ICT investments, and various industries employments from 1995 to 2011. The methodologies we adopted for this study is Granger causality tests and impulse response functions based on vector autoregression (VAR) model. We find that ICT has negative impact on service industries, while it has positive impact on manufacturing industries. Meanwhile, ICT has no statistically significant impact on ICT industry itself. Since the impacts of ICT on employment are mixed, we can argue that ICT should not be blamed for the main cause of low employment. We suggest a direction of future policies to utilize ICT for vitalizing employments in Korea.

Key Success Factors for ICT Service Startup Team : Team Creativity, Knowledge Sharing and Absorptive Capacity (ICT 서비스 스타트업의 성공조건 : 팀 창의성, 지식공유 그리고 흡수역량)

  • In this research, we tried to suggest the guidelines to stakeholder of ICT startup for picking up the excellent startups and nurturing them. We designed the research model focused on the good startup team's knowledge based interaction mechanism. A research model and hypotheses were developed from literature review and empirically validated. The research model consisted relationship among the knowledge sharing (knowledge donation and knowledge collection), absorptive capacity (member's ability and member's motivation), team creativity, and innovation capability. Data were collected from ICT Service Startups, and a partial least squares (PLS) analysis was made on 175 data points. The analysis results showed that absorptive capacity has significant effect on team creativity and innovation capability directly. And also it has indirect effect on the dependent variable through team creativity. On the contrary, knowledge sharing does not have statistically significant effect on team creativity and innovation capability; only have an effect on absorptive capacity. Based on the results, we proposed several team management skills for ICT startup leaders and members, and the guidelines to stakeholder such as government and private investors. Also there are some ideas for startup nurturing polices for government officers. Theoretical contributions are discussed at the end with limitations and further studies.

The Analysis of Teachers' Factors Influencing ICT literacy in Elementary and Middle School Students (초·중학생 ICT 리터러시 수준에 영향을 미치는 교사 요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate teacher factors influencing ICT literacy in elementary and middle school students. For this purpose, ICT literacy was measured in 6,383 students in $4^{th}$, $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ graders, 337 teachers in 150 elementary schools, and 9,183 students in $1^{st}$, $2^{nd}$ and $3^{rd}$ graders, 337 teachers in 150 middle schools. Additionally, we conducted multiple regression analysis to explore teachers' influential factors. As a result, our finding indicated that the level of teachers' computer literacy had a positive effect on elementary students' ICT literacy(overall and 7 sub-domains) while ICT utilization during class and teachers' age had a negative effect on elementary students' ICT literacy(overall and 7 sub-domains). In addition, we found that major in ICT education and the level of teacher education had a positive effect on middle students' ICT literacy(overall and 7 sub-domains). Based on the results of this study, we suggested increasing hours in the teachers' professional development and the pre-service and in-service teacher education course and supporting or promoting the self-development of the information school teachers in middle schools.
