  • This study was designed to make an analysis of the content related with Korean traditional food culture covered in the section of Food and Nutrition of Home Economics textbooks based on the current 7th curriculum and to investigate the recognition and needs for education on Korean traditional food culture among high school students. Through this, we tried to present basic data contributing to the construction of practical educational content and educational method in relation to Korean traditional food culture. The results of this study are as follows. The content of Korean traditional food culture in the section of Food and Nutrition covered by Home Economics textbooks consisted of 'Setting the Table and Table Manners' for the third graders of middle school, 'Planning and Preparing Invitation and Events' for the freshman of high school, and 'Food Culture and Preparation of Food' for the second and third graders of high school. High school students were proud of themselves on Korean traditional food culture, but fail to apply their knowledge to real household life. In particular, it was proved they didn't understand' Korean Festival Holidays and Annual Customs: The need on the content of Korean traditional food culture showed significant difference in accordance with pride on traditional food culture, its succession in the families and one's recognition. And it was highly correlated with the subordinate variables such as demands, interest, utilization. These results showed that the education of Korean traditional food culture is an area that is demanded and how to cook Korean traditional food should be included in the content for education and practice of cooking and experience of food culture should be dealt with as the educational methods.

  • This research investigated television and video viewing of young children in early childhood all-day program settings and teachers' recognition of its effects on young children through the survey of 452 early childhood teachers. The results show that television and video viewing is used as a whole group activity during transition period and/or waiting time activity for children who come earlier in the morning and remain late until closing time. It means television and video viewing at early childhood settings is mainly used as a group baby sitter or pacifier. Daily viewing time is about 44.02 minutes and early childhood teachers show low recognition of their role in children's viewing habits. Young children's viewing patterns and time are differed by teachers' variables so that young children of beginning teachers at small size settings appear more viewing time. Teachers show more negative recognition of television and video viewing on young children when they are older and have higher educational level and longer education experiences. The results also show that the more teachers have positive recognition on television and video viewing, the more young children are exposed to television and video viewing in their classes.

  • Recently, with the high interest of machine learning, the need for educational controllers to interface with physical devices has increased. However, existing controllers are limited in terms of high cost and area of utilization for educational purposes. In this paper, motion control controllers using brain waves are proposed for the purpose of students' machine learning applications. The brain motion that occurs when imagining a specific action is measured and sampled, then the sample values were learned through Tensor Flow and the motion was recognized in contents such as games. Movement variation for motion recognition consists of directionality and jump motion. The identification of the recognition behavior is sent to a game produced by an Unreal Engine to operate the character in the game. In addition to brain waves, the implemented controller can be used in various fields depending on the input signal and can be used for educational purposes such as machine learning applications.

  • This study aimed to examine first graders' recognition and thinking about mathematical patterns. To attain the goal, this paper analyzed 116 students' response with regard to repeating, growing, and changing patterns represented in both picture and number, and also analyzed four students' thinking process of the patterns through interview. It was found that students showed high recognition in repeating, growing, and changing patterns in order. Whereas there was no significant difference between picture and number representation in both repeating and growing patterns, pictures gained a bit higher scores than numbers in changing patterns. Also, according to the result of examining the thinking process by the patterns, students tended to consider the patterns as a bundle and tried to solve problems with counting strategies. The result of this paper provides an empirical foundation on how first graders recognize and think of various patterns.

  • This paper proposes a method, which recognizes student's identification card by using image processing and recognition technology and can manage student information on the web. The presented scheme sets up an average brightness as a threshold, based on the brightest Pixel and the least bright one for the source image of the ID card. It is converting to binary image, applies a horizontal histogram, and extracts student number through its location. And, it removes the noise of the student number region by the mode smoothing with 3$\times$3 mask. After removing noise from the student number region, each number is extracted using vertical histogram and normalized. Using the enhanced ART1 algorithm recognized the extracted student number region. In this study, we propose the enhanced ART1 algorithm different from the conventional ART1 algorithm by the dynamical establishment of the vigilance parameter. which shows a tolerance limit of unbalance between voluntary and stored patterns for clustering. The Experiment results showed that the recognition rate of the proposed ART1 algorithm was improved much more than that of the conventional ART1 algorithm. So, we develop an educational matters administration system by using the proposed recognition method of the student's identification card.

  • Background: To survey and analyze awareness and recognition during a non-face-to-face lecture, and satisfaction with among dental technology students. Methods: Total 179 undergraduates were surveyed from the Department of Dental Technology. Frequency analysis, cross analysis, independent sample t-test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were used for analyzing statistics. Results: Overall satisfaction with the non-face-to-face lecture was the highest (p=.037) while watching a recorded lecture in the theory curriculum subject. In the case of practical subjects, satisfaction with face-to-face lectures appeared to be higher (p=.039) compared to non-face-to-face lectures. Factors influencing the recognition of non-face-to-face lecture quality included awareness of a place to conduct a class and of face-to-face delivered lecture quality, satisfaction with face-to-face lecture, and satisfaction with non-face-to-face lecture. Factors affecting satisfaction with a non-face-to-face lecture included a place to conduct a class, the most effective theory non-face-to-face class method, the method of having been experienced the most among non-face-to-face lecture methods, and the recognition of non-face-to-face lecture quality. Conclusions: Future educational environment should include combined face-to-face and non-face-to-face lectures. An efficient educational indicator will be needed to evaluate learners' assessments and opinions about online classes, followed by its application to teaching methods.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the Korean Local Government's recognition on the educational gap among regions in the filed of adult learning including vocational education and life long-learning. The study also tried to figure out the local government's recognition and infrastructure of e-Learning which is suggested as one of the solutions on the regional gap of educational opportunities and quality. This study took 12 HRD(Human Resources Development) centers funded and operated by the Korean Local Governments except Seoul and Kyong-Gi classified by the metropolitan areas in Korea. As a result, firstly it was found that the local governments had perception on the difference and gap of educational opportunities and quality among regions in the area of adult education. Especially, the perception was relatively more serious on quality than quantity. Secondly, the result showed the large gap among regions on the area of opening educational and training programs, the quality of teachers and tutors, the effectiveness and outcomes of educational programs. Thirdly, they perceived more serious educational gap on face-to-face classes rather than e-Learning in the context of educational methodology. It also revealed that the local governments had relatively better foundations on physical systems than other infrastructures and resources such as human-ware, culture-ware and soft-ware(contents, programs etc.). It was recommended to consider these findings in developing and implementing future educational policies to solve the problem of regional gap on education.
