  • In this article, a fairly extensive literature review was conducted to depict the current status of academic motivation and its developmental trend among Korean adolescents. The focal factors were perceived competence and autonomy which have been considered as major determinants of academic motivation. Theoretical frameworks adopted were self-efficacy theory, expectancy-value theory, and self-determination theory. Empirical studies conducted in Korean educational settings during the past decade were the target of the literature review. Results of the literature analysis revealed that, in general, there was a decreasing tendency in perceived competence from elementary to middle school which followed by a slight increase after entering high school. Similar trend revealed in the development of autonomous motivation, in that middle and high school students' intrinsic motivation levels were lower than that of the elementary groups. The amotivational tendency was increased as the grade level proceeded toward high school, which requires attention from educators. Discussion was followed in an attempt to provide plausible interpretations for this undesirable current status of Korean adolescents' academic motivation and to suggest implications for possible remedial actions both in pedagogical perspectives and students' well-being.

  • With the recent growth of the companion animal market, various social issues related to companion animals have also come to the forefront. Notable problems include incidents of dog bites, the challenge of managing abandoned companion animals, euthanasia, animal abuse, and more. As potential solutions, a variety of training programs such as companion animal-focused broadcasts and educational apps are being offered. However, these options might not be very effective for novice caretakers who are uncertain about what to prioritize in training. While training apps that are relatively easy to access have been widely distributed, apps that allow users to directly engage in training and learn through hands-on experience are still insufficient. In this paper, we propose a more efficient AR-based mobile app for companion animal training, utilizing the Unity engine. The results of usability evaluations indicated increased user engagement due to the inclusion of elements that were previously absent. Moreover, training immersion was enhanced, leading to improved learning outcomes. With further development and subsequent verification and production, we anticipate that this app could become an effective training tool for novice caretakers planning to adopt companion animals, as well as for experienced caretakers.

  • The United Kingdom has a well-developed and comprehensive information infrastructure which has grown up over many years, but in the strict sense it has no coherent body of policy relating to information collection, storage, provision and supply. However, each of the governmental, professional and other bodies which has any major involvement with information, has committees to run its affairs and develop its policies in relation to issues and problems in the field. In addition, a number of ad hoc committees and working parties, to discuss or deal with a current problem, or to monitor or advise on the conduct of a research or development project, show that there is a high degree of awareness. of what is happening in the field and that there are many opportunities for expressing any particular point of view. The need for good intelligence in business or industrial operations is now being more generally accepted, and in consequence the need for a director of intelligence is also seen. The director of information in an industrial setting is the information manager, who combines or has access to the skills of several disciplines, including library, data processing and communication skills as well as managerial. Recognition of the need for such persons has policy implications in terms of short-term training provision and long-term educational facilities for the emerging profession, as well as manpower planning implications.

  • 'Vision Zero' is a fundamental response to rapidly increasing number of traffic accidents. It was first introduced in Sweden in the late 20th century and is spreading worldwide. It suggests that traffic safety policies should be on the possibility of making mistakes by irrational beings. Under the ethical vision that human life and health cannot be exchanged for any other social benefits, the policy issue should allow to make zero out the death rate and serious injuries of traffic accidents while allowing minor injuries. 'Vision Zero' argues that the government should design an environment in which individual mistakes never lead to fatal accidents. 'Vision Zero', which shows a different perspective from existing policies regarding safety ultimate goal, is spreading from traffic safety to other areas such as health, safety and well-being. This study examines the implication of the Korea's school safety policy from the perspectives of 'Vision Zero' on the five areas : "for what", "from what", "by what", "by whom", and "how". The study is intended to establish a new directions and challenges of school safety policy in Korea through an analytical discussions on 'Vision Zero'.

  • The purpose of this study was two-fold. Firstly, it investigated the current state of the 34 specific policies of school safety-accident prevention that were implemented at K-12 public schools in accordance with the $1^{st}$ School Safety-Accident Prevention Plan established in December 2015. Secondly, it prioritized the policies based on the outcomes from the investigation to make policy recommendations for future improvement. For this purpose, we surveyed 614 school teachers and staff from 24 school-safety research schools across the nation on their perception of the current policies for preventing school safety accidents. Specifically, they were asked about the degree of realization and the necessity of expansion of the policies. Based on the survey results, the Borich index as a needs measure was computed for each policy and a list of policies prioritized in descending order of the index was presented. The results of the study showed that school teachers and staff's perception of the improvement of school safety since the policies took effect was highly positive in general. It was also shown that the policies perceived as best-implemented were, in descending order, "first-aid education for teachers and staff", "safety management of school meals", "prevention activity of student traffic safety-accident", and so on. The majority of survey respondents said that the policies were being implemented well and that they should be expanded and enhanced. As a result of the Borich's needs analysis, it was found that "more collegial collaboration between the Office of Education and other relevant organizations in the community for school safety", "prevention education activity for water safety", and so forth should be more actively implemented.

A research was conducted with 328 adults over 19 years old for a month of February 2021 through online and mobile survey by Gallup Korea. Research contents include the general characteristics, personal hygiene practices related to infection, perceived risks related to infection, importance and level of knowledge on infectious diseases, and education needs for prevention and control of infectious diseases. For the research data analysis, PASW Statistics Ver 20.0 was used as a statistical program. Ranks from analysis upon conversion as the formula of Borich needs to sum up with importance and knowledge level showed first (Borich 3.11) with treatments for infectious diseases; second (Borich 2.15) with process in case of suspicion and diagnosis of infectious diseases; third (Borich 1.75) with transmission routes of infectious diseases; fourth (Borich 1.73) with preventive ways of infectious diseases; fifth (Borich 1.50) with diagnostic and test methods of infectious diseases; sixth (Borich 1.45) with characteristics of infectious diseases; and seventh (Borich1.38) with main symptoms of infectious diseases. It is anticipated that development of educational programs applying education needs for prevention and control of infectious diseases in this research can contribute to enhance the physical health, mental health, and psychological well-being of the subjects.
