자기상관이 있는 장치 공정에서 EWMA와 Shewhart 관리도와의 모니터링 효율성 비교 분석 (A Comparative Analysis on the Efficiency of Monitoring between EWMA and Shewhart Chart in Instrumental Process with Autocorrelation)

  • When monitoring an instrumental process, one often collects a host of data such as characteristic signals sent by a sensor in short time intervals. Characteristic data of short time intervals tend to be autocorrelated. In the instrumental processes often the practice of adjusting the setting value simply based on the previous one, so-called 'adjacent point operation', becomes more critical, since in the short run the deviations are harder to detect and in the long run they have amplified consequences. Stochastic modelling using ARIMA or AR models are not readily usable here. Due to the difficulty of dealing with autocorrelated data conventional practice is resorting to choosing the time interval where autocorrelation is weak enough then to using I-MR control chart to judge the process stability. In the autocorrelated instrumental processes it appears that using the Shewhart chart and the time interval data where autocorrelation is relatively not existent turns out to be a rather convenient and very useful practice to determine the process stability. However in the autocorrelated instrumental processes we intend to show that one would presumably do better using the EWMA control chart rather than just using the Shewhart chart along with some arbitrarily intervalled data, since the former is more sensitive to shifts given appropriate weights.

  • Packet loss compensation techniques are increasingly important to stable remote control over wireless communication in WNCS (Wireless Networked Control Systems). Its time varying channels, limited bandwidth, interference, and poor signal not only leads to packet loss or latency, but also can negatively affect performance and system stability. This paper presents a compensation technique exploiting an EWMA (Exponentially Weighed Moving Average)-based value estimator to clarify the influence of packet loss on the overall WNCS behavior. As an example of actuator to be remotely controlled, a rotary-type inverted pendulum has been considered, and modeled. Performance evaluation results through Matlab/Simulink and Truetime co-simulation confirm the superiority of the proposed value estimation method over previous approaches.

Monitoring social networks based on transformation into categorical data

  • Social network analysis (SNA) techniques have recently been developed to monitor and detect abnormal behaviors in social networks. As a useful tool for process monitoring, control charts are also useful for network monitoring. In this paper, the degree and closeness centrality measures, in which each has global and local perspectives, respectively, are applied to an exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) chart and a multinomial cumulative sum (CUSUM) chart for monitoring undirected weighted networks. In general, EWMA charts monitor only one variable in a single chart, whereas multinomial CUSUM charts can monitor a categorical variable, in which several variables are transformed through classification rules, in a single chart. To monitor both degree centrality and closeness centrality simultaneously, we categorize them based on the average of each measure and then apply to the multinomial CUSUM chart. In this case, the global and local attributes of the network can be monitored simultaneously with a single chart. We also evaluate the performance of the proposed procedure through a simulation study.

단기 생산공정에 활용되는 SPC 기법의 비교 연구 (Comparison of Statistical Process Control Techniques for Short Production Run)

  • Short runs where it is neither possible nor practical to obtain sufficient subgroups to estimate accurately the control limit are common in modem business environments. In this study, the standardized control chart, Hillier's exact method, Q chart, EWMA(Exponentially Weighted Moving Average) chart for Q statistics and EWMA chart for mean and absolute deviation among many SPC(Statistical Process Control) techniques for short runs have been reviewed and advantages and disadvantages of these techniques are discussed. The simulation experiments to compare performances of these variable charts for process mean and variations are conducted for combination of subgroup size, scale and timing of shifts of process mean an/or standard deviation. Based upon simulation results, some guidelines for practitioners to choose short run SPC techniques are recommended.

ATM 망에서 혼합형 셀 간격 제어 기법 (A Hybrid Type Shaping Scheme in ATM Networks)

  • ATM 망에서는 고속의 셀 전송 특성으로 인해 폭주가 발생할 수 있으며. 예측할 수 없는 트래픽의 변화로 인한 셀 지연과 셀 손실이 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 트래픽 제어는ATM 망에서 필수적이며, 폭주현상을 줄이기 위한 여러 가지 방법들 가운데 하나가 셀 간격 제어이다. 본 논문에서는 리키버켓과 EWMA로 구성된 혼합형 셀 간격 제어 기법을 연구한다. 혼합형 셀 간격 제어기는 시간 윈도우를 가진 EWMA와 토큰 풀을 가진 리키버켓 간격제어 버퍼로 구성된다. BONeS 시뮬레이터에서 ON/OFF 트래픽 소스 모델을 이용하여 제안한 혼합형 셀 간격 제어 기법의 성능을 평가한 결과 패킷화된 음성 트래픽과 고속 트래픽 소스 모두 셀 간격이 평균 비트율에 수렴하여 제어되는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다.

  • 고속통신망에서 데이터 전송률의 결정은 폭주제어 기법을 갖는 되먹임 구조 통신망시스템의 안정성에 매우 중요한 요소이다. 비동기전송망에서, ABR 서비스는 하위 노드의 트래픽 정보를 전달할 수 있는 RM(resource management) 셀 기반의 되먹임 구조를 갖는다. 그러나 일반적인 IP 기반 통신망에서는 하위 노드 트래픽의 현재상태가 각 전송원으로 바로 전달되어 질 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 고속통신망에서의 폭주 제어를 위해 지수이동가중 평균(exponential weighted moving average: EWMA)을 이용한 전송률 기반의 효과적인 되먹임 통신망 제어 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 통신망 폭주 제어기법은 스위치 대기열의 안정성을 보장하고 보다 높은 통신망 활용 효율을 보인다. 또한, 제안된 폭주제어 기법은 통신망에서의 전송원의 수의 증가에 대하여 보다 유연성을 갖으며, 이를 통하여 망 확장성을 증가시킬 수 있다.

공정관리시스템을 위한 SPC와 EPC의 연계 (Combination SPC & EPC for Process Control System)

  • This paper seeks to Combination for Efficient Application of SPC/EPC minimize variability by transferring the output variable to a related process controllable variable, while SPC seeks to reduce variability by detecting and eliminating assignable causes of variation. In the case of product control, a very reasonable objective is to try to minimize the variance of the output deviations from the target or set point. We consider an alternative EPC model with autoregressed disturbance. We compare three control systems; EPC, Cp, SPC combined system with EWMA, CUSUM and Shewhart. This paper shows through simulation that the performance of the integrated model of EPC and SPC, Cp is more preferable than that of EPC.

  • Complex Products may present more than one type of defects and these defects are not always of equal severity. These defects are classified according to their seriousness and effect on product quality and performance. Demerit systems are very effective systems to monitoring the different types of defects. So, classical demerit control chart used to monitor counts of several different types of defects simultaneously in complex products. S.M. Na et al.(2003) proposed the Demerit-CUSUM for the improvement of the demerit control chart performance and Nembhard, D. A. et al.(2001) and G.Y Cho et al.(2004) developed a Demerit control chart using the EWMA technique and evaluated the performance of the control chart. In this paper, we present an effective method for process control using the Demerit-CUSUM with fast initial response. Moreover, we evaluate exact performance of the Demerit-CUSUM control chart with fast initial response, Demerit-CUSUM and Demerit-EWMA according to changing sample size or parameters.

  • 생산 공정 제어방법들 중에서 이동평균 제어와 지수가중치 이동평균 제어는 가장 널리 사용되는 제어이다. 두 제어는 모두 정확한 제어식을 알고 있다는 전제 하에 최적화된 제어들이다. 이 논문에서는 제어식의 잘못된 예측으로부터 발생하는 문제점에 대해 다루었다. 추정한 모수의 정확도와 가중치 $\lambda$의 범위에 의해 결정되는 각각의 제어방식의 제어한계에 대해서 확인하고 제어 간의 성능을 평가하였다. 또한 잘못 추정된 모델이 존재하는 공정에서 Shift가 발생하였을 때 최적의 제어와 그것을 실제 공정에서 어떻게 적용할지에 대해서 연구하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안하는 방법의 효용성을 검증하였다.

프로세스의 독립성, 데이터 가중치 체계, 부분군 형성과 관리도 용도에 따른 합격판정 관리도의 설계 (Design of Acceptance Control Charts According to the Process Independence, Data Weighting Scheme, Subgrouping, and Use of Charts)

  • The study investigates the various Acceptance Control Charts (ACCs) based on the factors that include process independence, data weighting scheme, subgrouping, and use of control charts. USL - LSL > $6{\sigma}$ that used in the good condition processes in the ACCs are designed by considering user's perspective, producer's perspective and both perspectives. ACCs developed from the research is efficiently applied by using the simple control limit unified with APL (Acceptable Process Level), RLP (Rejectable Process Level), Type I Error $\alpha$, and Type II Error $\beta$. Sampling interval of subgroup examines i.i.d. (Identically and Independent Distributed) or auto-correlated processes. Three types of weight schemes according to the reliability of data include Shewhart, Moving Average(MA) and Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) which are considered when designing ACCs. Two types of control charts by the purpose of improvement are also presented. Overall, $\alpha$, $\beta$ and APL for nonconforming proportion and RPL of claim proportion can be designed by practioners who emphasize productivity and claim defense cost.
