Design of EPG Information Architecture on Digital TV based on User's Experience (사용자 경험에 기초한 디지털 TV EPG 채널 정보구조 설계)

  • This study is about the TV Electronic Program Guide (EPG) design to which Perceived Information Architecture (PIA) based on user-experience is applied. The function-oriented information architecture is not friendly for user to search channels, while Multi-channels of EPG system provides users with opportunities to select a variety of channels. Because the menu structure of EPG user interface system is not compatible with the user experience. Therefore, this study presented a user-experience-based methodology and proposed a new solution for the information architecture of user-centered EPG system design.

  • In accordance with the digital broadcast data converted, the number of the service provider, and content channel for interaction with the viewer has increased exponentially. Electronic program guide in such a multi-channel time(Electronic Program Guide, EPG) is an essential requirement, and also from day to day EPG generation technique according to the user's requirements. But the current situation is getting EPG to viewers outside for reasons such as absence, lack of accurate information, organizing techniques utilized lack of standard systems. In this article, we describe the State and EPG solution to the problem of these terrestrial stations. This, the EPG information and the actual broadcast time of the terrestrial channel 6 using a ground wave receiving method for a direct comparison was studied the problems and the average error of the current start. Also this research perform to enhance accuracy of EPG information.

  • IPTV(Internet Protocol Television)is the point in commercial and broadcast content from the numerous channels that are growing exponentially, Many people with mobile devices anywhere, anytime you want to use IPTV, demand will increase. Numerous channels for collecting information about EPG (Electronic Program Guide) service, IP (Internet Protoco) communications using a fast search of content for broadcast EPG is time to take advantage of the service. Using the current wired network, the Android-based IPTV services to take advantage of the EPG in the mobile environment to provide an environment being studied, and Country of the European digital broadcast standard DVB-MHP standard is followed by subsequent research and development of the EPG service is required. In this study, using the existing wired network, IPTV EPG service information of the channel in a mobile environment user-friendly as possible by providing channels for EPG service information to users quickly and easily search for content to provide an environment and Android-based mobile IPTV environment to take advantage of the EPG service channels of broadcast channels with in the EPG service for users to gather information retrieval system is proposed.

  • In this paper, we present an example-based natural language dialogue system for Electronic Program Guide Information Access. We introduce an effective and practical dialogue management technique incorporating dialogue examples and situation-based rules. In order to generate cooperative responses to smoothly lead the dialogue with users, our natural language dialogue system consists of natural language understanding, dialogue manager, system utterance generator. and EPG database manager. Each module is designed and implemented to make an effective and practical natural language dialogue system. In particular, in order to reflect the up-to-date EPG information which is updated frequently and periodically, we applied a web-mining technology to the EPG database manager, which builds the content database based on automatically extracted information from popular EPG websites. The automatically generated content database is used by other modules in the system for building their own resources. Evaluations show that our system performs EPG access task in high performance and can be managed with low cost.

  • The progression of broadcasting technology changed the previous analogue broadcasting system into digital, which in result allowed several broadcasting programs to be transmitted as one stream by multiplexing. This multi channel environment interferes with audience to choose the program they want. EPG acts as supporter in this multi channel environment. The existing EPG system is limited in providing searching function with title, genre, date and Wish-list in multi-media environment. Thus, this thesis proposes new type EPG using PSIP information modification to respond with the change of broadcasting market. This type of EPG can be applied to several kinds of broadcasting systems.

  • TV broadcasting platform is evolving to the digital-TV, which is supporting data broadcasting service. Although the data broadcasting services (i.e., games, wether information, stock trading service) provide rich entertainment to viewers, they make the operation manners of digital-TV so complex that some viewers feel difficulty in using their TV sets. The paper tackles the problem by devising a method for constructing viewer-specific EPG configurations based on the viewers' ability of handling IT devices. The paper also propose an environment (e.g., EPG configuration transmitting method, EPG structure) that implements dynamically an EPG configuration based on the viewer's choice of EPG configuration.

  • 본격적인 디지털 데이터 방송 시대를 맞이하여 TV는 다양하고 인터랙티브한 서비스의 제공이 가능해 졌다. 디지털 TV의 데이터 서비스는 매우 다양하다. 그 중 Electronic Program Guide(EPG)는 가장 기초가 되는 서비스이다. EPG의 아키텍쳐를 설계하기에 앞서 TV 프로그램에 대한 분류와 데이터 베이스화가 선행되어야 하며 이렇게 만들어진 Program Content Profile(PCP)와 사용자가 설정해 준 후 자동으로 갱신되는 User Preference Profile (UPP)는 EPG 어플리케이션의 스마트 기능 중 하나인 방송 프로그램 추천 기능을 가능케 해주며, 그 외에도 여러 스마트 기능들을 구현하는 중요한 척도이다. 본 논문은 이러한 모든 아키텍쳐를 시험적으로 설계 구현하였으며 그 예를 보여준다.

  • 국내에서 디지털 방송 상용화에 성공하고 전송 모델 또한 다양화됨에 따라 사용자는 다양한 형식으로 다수의 방송 프로그램을 접할 수 있게 되었다. 이에 대한 효율적인 프로그램 관리를 위한 EPG(Electronic Program Guide) 서비스가 현재 제공되거나 개발 중이다. 지능형 개인화 EPG는 디지털 방송 스트림이 수신되는 환경에서 사용자와 방송 수신기의 지능적인 매개체로서 운영되며 본 연구는 기존 프로그램 정보에 대한 장르를 학습하고 새로운 프로그램 정보가 입력될 경우 올바르게 장르를 분류할 수 있도록 기계학습 기법이 사용되었다.

  • 이 논문은 개인용 비디오 녹화기(PVR)의 전자 프로그램 가이드(EPG) 서비스에 관한 것으로, PVR과 EPG의 연동으로 TV 방송 프로그램 녹화 진행 상태를 EPG상에 표시하는 방법을 제안한다. 이 과정은 다채널 방송의 프로그램 편성 정보인 EPG를 수신하고, EPG에서 방송 컨텐츠 편성기를 통해 적어도 하나 이상의 예약 녹화 화를 한 후, 예약 녹화에 의해 해당 프로그램의 녹화를 시작해서 현재 녹화중인 프로그램을 표시해주는 3단계로 이루어진다. 본 논문의 PVR의 EPG상에서 녹화 진행 상태 표시 방법은 개인용 비디오 녹화기에서 사용되는 전자프로그램 가이드에 현재 녹화중인 프로그램을 표시해 줌으로써 사용자가 프로그램을 선택하는 데 있어서 보다 많은 정보를 제공할 수 있고, 현재 녹화 진행 상태를 알 수 있어 편리한 사용자 인터페이스로 활용될 수 있다.

A VoiceXML-based EPG Retrieval System (VoiceXML기반 EPG 검색 시스템)

  • Recent commencement of digital broadcasting has enabled various TV programs through hundreds of channels. As a result, it becomes a time-consuming job for the TV audience to look up newspaper or TV magazines for the schedule of a specific TV program. To relieve this problem, digital broadcasting usually provides an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) for the audience. Currently. most EPG services are focusing on the visual delivery of information through a web site, digital TV or mobile devices. However, this approach could cause a serious restriction to some users including drivers or visually handicapped persons, who can't input keywords for the search. In order to solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a VoiceXML-based EPG retrieval system that enables even such special users to browse EPG. conveniently using a mobile phone. We implemented a prototype system and proved its effectiveness through experiments.
