Structural Behaviors for Pressurized Fabric Leaning Arches

  • In this paper, a pressurized single vertical arch and a pressurized leaning arch composed of flexible fabric material are considered. These arches have also been considered as a possible support structure for the tent-like structures. Two different boundary conditions are considered in leaning arches with fixed bases and pinned bases. The behaviors of the leaning arches are investigated for two tilt angles as 15, 30. For each angle, two loading conditions are considered as uniformly distributed load and wind loads. The F.E.M. is used through the all analysis procedures. For the results, load-deflection relationships, buckling modes, differences between two boundary conditions and deformed configurations are discussed.

A Study on Evaluating Learning Effects Based on Analysis of Satisfaction in E-learning

  • This study examined student satisfaction with e-learning experiences in order to determine which factors had the greatest impact on reports of satisfaction among students at Konkuk University. We surveyed 4,889 students enrolled in e-learning courses and analyzed 830 completed questionnaires to identify factors that influence student satisfaction with e-learning. Results showed significant correlations between system factors and satisfaction ($R^2=0.577$; p = 0.000). The system factor with the greatest impact on satisfaction was course attendance rate (0.224; p = 0.000).

  • It is easy that students give up his study in e-learning environments. So it is critical for success of e-learning school to encourage students' aspiration to graduate study. This study examines the effect of sense of community to aspiration to graduate study and school loyalty in e-leaning school. I found that sense of community effect to school identification and that school identification effect to aspiration to graduate study and school loyalty.

  • It is to design diverse teaching methods to construct competitive knowledge-based society and to design teaching methods suitable to Korean conditions. The study reviewed Ausubel's meaningful learning especially subsumption theory as a plan to make students understand math and receive it meaningfully through explanatory class. Analyzing meaning and conditions of Ausubel's meaningful learning can make utility of significant explanatory learning in education of mathematics easier.

Balance impairment caused by diazepam in 2 dogs with vestibular disease: case reports

  • Following intravenous (IV) administration of diazepam as a preanesthetic agent, sudden balance impairment, such as falling, leaning, and rolling, was identified in 2 canine cases. The 2 dogs were anesthetized for brain magnetic resonance scan to diagnose about a history of head tilt. After end of the diagnostic procedures, during the anesthetic recovery period, balance impairment was also observed. However, the symptoms gradually ceased by IV administration of flumazenil. These 2 canine cases indicated that diazepam premedication was responsible for the acute balance impairment.

  • Instructor willingness to accept and literacy is an e-leaning important variable to expect a positive effect of the introduction of e-learning from the perspective of university. The role of faculty is not only instructor but also content experts, curriculum designers, graphics professionals, media director or programmer. This study suggest as the role of instructor as pedagogical, managerial, social and technical aspect for effective learning outcomes.

  • Safety and serviceability of a planar steel frame are assessed. Attention is turned to the individual main steps in the assessment procedure, i.e., to the definition of loads, selection of transformation model, determination of the response of the structure to the loading, and to the definition of the limiting values (considering safely and serviceability of the structure). The potential of the method using direct Monte Carlo technique as a powerful tool is emphasized.
