This paper is to improve an identification ratio of tags by analyzing Slotted ALOHA, Dynamic Slotted ALOHA, Binary-tree and Query-tree and shortening the tag identification time in mobile RFID. Also, it enables the stable information transmission of tags by saving backscattering power of tags through shortening of identification time. As a result, this increases the available time of the battery and accessibility to a RFID service. For this, we proposed the energy-efficient tag anti-collision protocol for mobile RFID. The proposed scheme shows advanced result in identification time and collision counts. This scheme may be the first attempt for the mobile anti-collision.

The application of the principle of trigeneration allows to simultaneously provide electricity to power electronic devices, as well as heat and cold to create the necessary microclimate of the premises and increase efficiency compared to separate cooling and heating systems. The use of Peltier thermoelectric modules (TEM) as part of trigenerative systems allows for smooth and precise control of the temperature regime, high manufacturability and reliability due to the absence of moving parts, resistance to shock and vibration, and small weight and size parameters of the system. One of the promising areas of improvement of trigenerative systems is their modeling and optimization based on the automatic control theory. A block diagram and functional model of an energy-saving trigenerative climate control system based on Peltier modules are developed, and the transfer functions of an open and closed system are obtained. The simulation of the transient characteristics of the system with varying parameters of the components is performed. The directions for improving the quality of transients in the climate control system are determined, as well as the prospects of the proposed methodology for modeling and analyzing control systems operating in substantially nonlinear modes.
In this paper, the design of one-chip FED system integrated with driving circuits in reported on the basis of MOSFET controlled FEA (MCFEA). To integrate a MOSFET with a FEA efficiently, a new fabrication process is proposed. It is confirmed that the MOSFET with threshold voltage of about 2volts controls the FEA emission current up to 20 ${\mu}$A by applying driving voltage of 15 volts, which is enough current level to utilize the MCFEA as a pixel for FED. The drain breakdown voltage of the MOSFET is measured to be 70 volts, which is also high enough for 60 volt operation of FED. The circuits for row and column driver are designed stressing on saving area, reducing malfunction probability and consuming low power to maximize the merit of on-chip driving circuits. Dynamic logic concept and bootstrap capacitors are used to meet these requirements. By integrating the driving circuit with FEA, the number of external I/O lines can be less than 20, irrespectively of the number of pixels.
New charge-recycling structure and driving scheme for TFT-LCD source-driver IC application are proposed. The number of additional switches for the charge recycling is greatly reduced. An experimental prototype 6-bit source driver with five-level seven-phase charge recycling implemented in a $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology demonstrates that the quiescent current is only 3.1 mA, dynamic power saving is 75 %, and the settling time, which includes the charge-recycling and data driving, is within 25 $25{\mu}s$.
In recent years, embedded mobile systems have been expanding their application domains from embedded portable devices which only execute a specialized application such as MP3 player or digital camcoder to digital convergence devices which execute more complicated applications converged various functionalities such as video and audio play, digital dictionary, DMB, games, phone, etc. As it requires the increasing hardware performance such as more faster CPU and more larger RAM, display, disk size, it has brought about a corresponding increase in power consumption. However, coupled with relatively small gains in battery capacity over recent years, the importance of software architecture including intelligent power management has become paramount. In this paper, we have ported UbiFOSTM with energy saving techniques on the ARM9-based MBA2440 platform. For energy savings, we adapted the dynamic power management and the device power management schemes based on monitoring workload. Experimental results with some well-known applications show that proposed low power technique could save energy up to 24 %.

In this paper, we present a reducing power conswnption of a scheduling for module selection under the time constraint. The proposed low power scheduling executes FDS_LP considering low power to exist the FDS scheduling by inputted the behavioral language. The proposed FDS_LP perfonns lower power consumption with dynamic power which is minimized the switching activity, based on force conception In the time step of module selection, an optimal RT(Register Transfer) library is composed by exploration of the parameters such as power, area, and delay. To find optimal parameters of RT library, an optimal module selection algorithm using Branch and Bound algorithm is also proposed. In the comparison and experimental results, The proposed FDS_LP algorithm reduce maximum power saving up to 23.9% comparing to previous FDS algorithm.

Recently, the Wi-Fi Direct standard based on WLAN is getting more attention as a new technology for enabling D2D(Devide-to-Device) communications on mobile devices. However, due to limited power resource of mobile devices and, an energy inefficiency problem can be an issue. In order to solve this problem, the Wi-Fi Direct defines two power management schemes: Opportunistic scheme and Notice of Absence(NoA) scheme. However, there is no concrete description of which power management scheme would be better for when. In this paper, via comprehensive simulation studies using ns-3, we show that each scheme presents obviously different performance and energy efficiency according to data traffic patterns. We then propose more energy efficient way of dynamically switching the two power management schemes.

Fuel oil consumption cost varies depending on every ship operation and this roughly amounts to 70 % of shipping companies' total revenue. As such, efforts towards improved fuel economy are being pursued. An annual 1 % reduction in fuel consumption is perceived to result in saving tens million US dollars on the global fleet operation. One approach is the application of power take-off configurations which are seen to increase fuel oil economy and are suitable for power generation. In this study, the dynamic properties of a shaft generator coupled on a 10S90ME main engine of an 18 600 TEU container vessel is presented. The vibratory torque and angular velocity variation was examined through theoretical analysis and actual vibration measurement. The result of the study suggests a review on existing classification rules for generator design and the lowering of vibratory torque and angular velocity variation guideline.

The objective of the work was to evaluate the impact of lighting energy to cooling and heating consumption in medium scale office building, when currently installed fluorescent lights were replaced with various LED lighting fixtures. This evaluation comes from an integrated approach combining the proper indoor lighting environment and the thermal aspects of cooling & heating consumption in office building. These simulations were performed by coupling an appropriate luminaire analysis for energy consumption and a dynamic thermal simulation software (TRNSYS). To analyze comparative study of effects on the heating, cooling loads, and energy consumption of an LED lamp application, 2 types of LED lamp with low light power watt(LPW) 24W and high LPW 7.5W and a fluorescent lights(FL) with 37W are used respectively. Integrated building energy consumption decreased up to 3.2% when fluorescent lamps were replaced with LEDs. Thus, the high LPW of LED(7.5W) replaced with the same number of FL shows an effective energy saving and cost- effective luminary.

This paper proposes a new power minimization technique for the frame-based multimedia signal processing. The derivation of the technique is based on the newly proposed microscopic DVS(Dynamic Voltage Scaling) method, where, the operating frequency and the supply voltage levels are dynamically controlled according to the processing requirement for each frame of multimedia data. The multimedia signal processing algorithms are also redesigned and optimized to maximize the power saving efficiency of the microscopic DVS technology. The characterization of the mean/variance distribution of the processing load in the frame-based multimedia signal processing provides the major basis not only for the optimized application of the microscopic DVS technology but also for the optimization of the multimedia algorithms. The power saying efficiency of the proposed DVS approach is experimentally tested with the algorithms of MPEG-2 video decoder and MPEG-2 AAC audio encoder on the ARM9 RISC processor. The experimental results with the diverse MPEG-2 video and audio files show The average power saving efficiencies of 50$\%$ and 30$\%$, respectively. The results also agree very well with those of the analytic derivations.
