The purpose of this study was to compare immediate differences in fatigue and motor performance during instrumental playing in patients with chronic stroke depending on whether singing task was concurrently presented. A total of 12 patients with chronic stroke were recruited from community and daycare centers for older adults in Seoul. Six subjects were randomly assigned to the experimental group and six to the comparison group. The experimental group was asked to sing while playing the electronic drum, and the comparison group only played the drum. The results of this study showed that statistically significant differences in perceived fatigue and exertion were found between the two groups, while no significant group differences were found in level of engagement in playing or force of tapping during drum playing. This study supports the inclusion of a singing task in instrument playing rehabilitation to effectively decrease perceived fatigue and level of intensity of exercises, although this may not lead to immediate changes in motor function or level of target exercises. The results indicate that singing while instrument playing may help stroke patients shift their attention from the executed motor movements to singing and alleviate the attentional and emotional load from intense movements. This study presents implications for how to select and pattern target movements in music therapy intervention for better motor outcomes.

The aim of this article is to argue that rhythm of janggu may have meaningful effects as a form of vitality for the elderly. Janggu is the most popular and soft pitched instrument in the percussion family in Korean music. It is warm and soft makes very deep and exquisite sounds. Janggu is a source of Korean national pride because of unique, manifestation of yin-yang five-elements represented in Korean music. The meaning and influence of rhythm in human is in essence and natural. This style paper is a course of happy life and a basic step toward in the world. Music therapy has been employed as a therapeutic intervention to facilitate healing across a many of clinical populations. A cheerful rhythm of janggu promotes the vitality of the elderly. This joining has contributed to the vitality, health improvement and the whole body for the elderly. Instead of visiting hospital, they sit in front of the janggu what could be better than a daily dose of exercise. Therefore, the author thinks this might help them forget their anxieties, this very moment, janggu music rhythm therapy lays the foundation of a more vital lifestyle.

We developed a electronic music glove (BMG) system that plays musical scores in real time processing. The EMG system interfaces with the signal coming from the controller to the sound card in the computer, The computer, according to the status of the fingers and foot switches, generates the sound signals and sends them to the speaker systems through the application C++ program and MIDI message. The EMG systems control the velocity and duration of sound and several musical performance expressions such as chorus, reverberation, rhythm, and volume. Finally, we implemented the digital drum set using: the EMG system as example.

Mental health is attributed to person's well-being, abilities and productivity. The purpose of this study is to suggest the effects of K-culture to people in adversity. It is PungmulPanGut, represented by traditional Korean play culture. Pungmul is a performance with four percussion instruments, Janggu (Korean hourglass drum), Buk (barrel shaped drum), Jing (large gong), Kkwaenggwari (small gong), and play. In Korean, "pan" means that it's a place to do something. Gut means to make a wish. The ensemble Better Than Medicine (eBTM) is a team that has trained and worked with Gamuak (歌,舞,樂; singing, dancing, playing) for a long time, but is not perfect (we refer this as 2% lacking in music). The characteristic of our team is that we share joy while voluntarily participating and doing what we like. It is a combination of singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, and exciting people. There is wind-like energy and there is mutual cooperation, not competition. As we concentrate, we become immersed in each other's breathing and movement. So it makes us forget the hard situation, the hardships, the pain, and so on. In the meantime, our pleasures peak and share happy energy with each other. Even though we are two percent less skilled, our sense of happiness doubles. Music together is not competition but cooperative work and healing. Therefore, we suggest that PungmulPanGut can be better K-culture than medicine in promoting mental health.

본 논문에서는 사용자가 음악을 직접 선곡하지 않고 락, 트로트, 댄스, 힙합, 발라드 등 5가지의 장르 중 사용자가 선호하는 음악의 장르를 추천하는 시스템을 구현하였다. 실시간으로 연주되는 음악에서 Bass Drum 신호를 추출ㆍ분석하여, 기본적으로 한 마디에 소요되는 시간, 주법, 진폭 등 세가지 파라메터를 이용하여 5가지 장르로 분류하였다 선택 곡 수와 들은 시간으로 퍼지 추론을 통해 각 장르에 대한 사용자 만족도를 평가한다. 평가된 만족도에 의해 사용자가 선호하는 장르의 음악을 제공하는 시스템을 제안한다.

Due to the development of mobile devices and communication technology, cell phones have radically evolved from portable phones into smartphones and provided variety of services to a society. This paper presents Multi-user Musical Instrument application for smart phones based on band instruments such as piano, guitar, bass guitar, and drum. This application makes music playing from smartphone to integrative music data stream using the synchronization function of server. In addition, user can play it of smartphone efficiently by implementing a graphic user interface similar to real musical instruments.

I scrutinized the idea that Parhae Marek was inherited from Kokuryo which was presented in "The study on the Marek" published in the journal of the Korean Society of Costume 55-5, and concluded the following results: 1. The Marek which Samguk sagi recorded is the red head scarf used for dancers who do Koguryo dance in the Babarian Music System in Tang dynasty. Since its original record Tong dian tells that Kokuryo performers' costumes then had strikingly changed and Quichi and GaoChang dancers also wore Marek, so the idea that Marek was originated from Koguryo should be reconsidered. 2. Considering the Yaksoori mural's indistinguishable condition as well as the same scenes from other Kokuryo mural paintings, I can't evidently tell that the first person who carries shouldering drum puts Marek on. 3. should be pronounced [Mal] for the meaning of a head scarf and its definition can't be limited only for the sash type. 4. Diverse historical data on head scarves deny the assumption that the sash type of hairband would have been succeeded from Kokuryo to the Parhae Marek. 5. The Marek of Princess Junghyo's mural painting can be an example that shows the costume of Tang influenced Parhae's. But the similarity in styles of costume between contemporary countries doesn't mean their reciprocal racial or political identity.

Nowadays the music market is getting bigger while students are losing their creativity because of the cramming education even in the music class. Based on the growing music market, we made a project for students to play the musical instruments more easily. The suggested program is different from any other system because, with this program, we can play the musical instruments if only we have a keyboard made of paper and Webcam, which made us save money. When an user put his finger on the paper keyboard, Webcam makes a sound recognizing the position of the finger on the keyboard. We can choose one instrument out of four; Piano, drum, base and guitar. With this system, we can get an opportunity to learn many sounds of musical instruments and make our own melody.

Dalgubal drum dance is inherited in a recreated form by incorporating regional symbolism and the dance philosophy and artisticity of Young Hwangbo, the creator, based on the traditional drum dance of the Yeongnam region. This dance having popularity with the transformation of traditional Korean culture has been invited not only to Yeongnam region including Daegu but also to international various venues. This study explores what the movement characteristics of this Dalgubal drum dance are and the unique charm and symbolic meaning of this dance. Specific analysis was conducted through analyzing Dalgubal drum dance video film of the 89th Korean Myeongmujeon's by using Laban Movement Analysis as a research method. The special features of this dance resulted from the LMA analysis in terms of the four categories-Body, Effort, Shape, and Space-reveal simple yet cheerful personalities and strong yet patient characteristics of the people in Daegu. The harmony of drum sounds(music) and movements(dance) creates various characteristics of dances and reveals the beauty and excitement of unique Korean dance. In particular, drum play and its related dance movements create curved linear spatial pattern of arm movements, Spiral Shape in body posture, and diverse floor patterns occupying whole stage space. These movements show the three-dimensional spatial beauty and the artistic ideas for recreation of traditional drum dance, which considered with the spatial structure of the proscenium stage. In addition, the well-organized structure and harmonious movements of this dance show the traditional Korean philosophy, implying heaven, earth, and human being and the wholeness, and the harmony of yin and yang. The dance aims at communication between the audiences and dancers through sharing excitement and the aesthetic beauty of dance. This can be interpreted as a meaningful expression of traditional Korean philosophy developed with the unique value and characteristics of Korean dance.

Sting (Gordon Sumner) is a British musician and singer-songwriter. He was the principal songwriter, lead singer, and bassist for the new wave rock band 'The Police' from 1977 to 1984, before launching a solo career in 1985. With his stylish and sophisticated sensibility and musical spectra, he achieved 100 million album sales. In this thesis, after he disbanded the group THE POLICE, his career as a solo artist with his wide variety of musical colors has been acknowledged for his reputation over more than 30 years. Therefore, I analyze 'Sting' of music included in 'Straight To My Heart' and 'Be Still My Beating Heart' in. Songs in indicate that the drum part the tunes that there is in a record doesn't break away from the basic way of music. The role of the whole rhythm division through the various percussions or can see a synthesizer than the role as the cord musical instrument that there are lots of tunes placing a great deal of weight on the role as the rhythmic musical instrument more. The unique instrument-based rhythm of the early Sting and role dispensation create a unique sound that is quite different from what the musician subsequently recorded. The feature and rhythmic characteristic, which is the arrangement that appeared outstandingly in this record, I am trying to explain about the way in which I lead the basic flow of the tune through the rhythm division of the other musical instruments which I split that is, the drum beat and break away from a rhythm from the divided general way and include a percussion.
