Urinalyses have been conducted for 28 crew's in H University's training ship and creatine and uric acid turned out to be higher in all ages, which can be inferred that board job has caused negative impact on kidney and/or malfunction In addition, TC and HDL-C, LDL-C ha; decreased, however, TG has increased after the navigation. All different positions including officer, crew, decker, engineer and radio part showed the similar pattern TC and HDL-C has decreased in 30s, 40s and TG has increased in 30s. A few of the 30's show extremely high TG rates so hyperlipidemia is suspected. 7 members turned out positive for UBG test and 5 positive for PRO test. Especially there was only one UBG positive before the navigation but, 7 members has become positive, which means the one-month long-tenn navigation has definite impact on the liver cell function.

With the advance of Internet Technology, various social network services are created and used by users. Especially, the use of smart devices makes that multimedia contents can be used and distributed on social network services. However, since the crime rate also is increased by users with illegal purposes, there are needs to protect contents and block illegal usage of contents with multimedia forensics. In this paper, we propose a multimedia forensic technique which is identifying the video source. First, the scheme to acquire the sensor pattern noise (SPN) using morphology filtering is presented, which comes from the imperfection of photon detector. Using this scheme, the SPN of reference videos from the reference device is estimated and the SPN of an unknown video is estimated. Then, the similarity between two SPNs is measured to identify whether the unknown video is acquired using the reference device. For the performance analysis of the proposed technique, 30 devices including DSLR camera, compact camera, camcorder, action cam and smart phone are tested and quantitatively analyzed. Based on the results, the proposed technique can achieve the 96% accuracy in identification.

As offshore structures such as offshore wind and offshore platforms have been installed frequently in ocean, scour effects are considered important. To test the scour effect, numerical simulation of scour has been carried out. However, the test was usually conducted under the uni-directional flow without bi-directional current flow in western sea of Korea. Thus, in this paper, numerical simulations of scour around offshore jacket substructure of HeMOSU-1 installed in western sea of Korea are conducted using FLOW-3D. The conditions are uni-directional and bi-directional flow considering tidal current. And these results are compared to measured data. The analysis results for 10,000 sec show that under uni-directional conditions, maximum scour depth was about 1.32 m and under bidirectional conditions, about 1.44 m maximum scour depth occurred around the structure. Meanwhile, about 1.5~2.0 m scour depths occurred in field observation and the result of field test is similar to result under bi-directional conditions.
This study was aimed at determining the antioxidant and antimicrobial effects of solvent extracts from Asparagus cochinchinensis. The Asparagus cochinchinensis was extracted with water, methanol, ethanol, n-hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and ether. The antimicrobial activity of these extracts was determined by modified well diffusion methods against 4 species of respiratory disease bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). In addition, the amount of total polyphenol and flavonoid content, and antioxidant activity was evaluated. Ethyl acetate extract of A. cochinchinensis exhibited higher antimicrobial activity against tested microorganisms than water, methanol, ethanol, n-hexane, dichloromethane, and ether extracts. For antioxidant activity, the ethyl acetate extract of A. cochinchinensis exhibited a notable effect on the scavenging of superoxide against DPPH ($IC_{50}=3.81mg/ml$). Finally, the total polyphenol and flavonoid contents were $14{\pm}0.7mg/g$, and $0.50{\pm}0.13mg/g$, respectively. These results can be regarded as basic research into A. cochinchinensis for the prevention of respiratory diseases. The results indicate that A. cochinchinensis may be utilized as a nutraceutical for respiratory diseases when the physiologically active substances of A. cochinchinensis are increased by further study.
Vibrio species are generally recognized as pathogens predominant in seafood along coastal areas. The food industry has sought to develop efficient microbial detection methods. Owing to the limits of conventional methods, this study aimed to establish a rapid identification method for Vibrio isolated from Korea, based on matrix-assisted laser-desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Four different preparation procedures were compared to determine the appropriate means to pretreat Vibrio species, using 17 isolates and five reference strains. Extended direct transfer and full formic acid extraction methods using bacterial colonies on agar plates revealed very low identification rates. Formic acid and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) extractions using bacterial broth cultures were also performed. All Vibrio isolates and reference strains prepared by TFA extraction were successfully identified to the species level (17/22, 77.3%) and to the genus level (5/22, 22.7%). Thus, TFA extraction was considered the most appropriate method to pretreat Vibrio species for MALDI-TOF MS. The remaining 33 isolates and two reference strains were prepared by TFA extraction and analyzed by MALDI-TOF MS. Overall, 50 isolates were identified to the species level (40/50, 80%) and to the genus level (10/50, 20%). All isolates were identified as 43 V. alginolyticus, six V. parahaemolyticus, and one V. vulnificus species. V. alginolyticus and V. parahaemolyticus were isolated from fish offal (87.5% and 12.5%, respectively), seawater (91.3%, 8.7%), and shellfish (62.5%, 37.5%), whereas V. alginolyticus and V. vulnificus were isolated from sediment (90.9% and 9.1%, respectively). This study established a reliable system of MALDI-TOF MS preparation and analysis for Vibrio identification.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of the salt concentration in seafood wastewater on the high-rate anaerobic digestion process. In the general high-rate anaerobic process test, the TCODcr removal efficiency at 6 hr or more HRT was 81.1~0.7%, and the optimal HRT for seafood wastewater process was found to be 6 hr or more. The methane content in the biogas was 70.1~76.8% during the operation, and was hardly affected by the change in the influent load. The results of the anaerobic digestion efficiency according to the salt concentration showed that the removal efficiency of TCODcr was 83.4~89.2% below a $4,000mgCl^-/L$ salt concentration, and mid-70% at a $5,000mgCl^-/L$ salt concentration. Therefore, the salt concentration had to be kept below $4,000mgCl^-/L$ to ensure stable treatment efficiency. Below a $3,000mgCl^-/L$ salt concentration, the methane generation was 0.2999~0.346$m^3CH_4/kgCODrem.$, which was similar to the theoretical methane gas generation in STP condition ($0.35m^3CH_4/gTCODrem.$). The methane content in the biogas was 64.7~73.3% below a $3,000mgCl^-/L$ salt concentration, but decreased with an increase in the salt concentration, to 50.1~56.9% at a $4,000mgCl^-/L$ concentration.
Demand for appropriate health care has gradually increased in Korea. In addition, developments of community- and school-based oral health programs have also focused oral health care for the oral health promotion. Especially, school-based oral health programs are the underpinnings of promoting oral health and preventing oral diseases among schoolchildren. School-based oral health programs have had three major components: oral health education, oral health services, and a healthful environments. These included oral health education(one-to-one communication, group communication, and use of mass communication), oral examination, fluoride mouthrinsing, pit-and-fissure sealants, fluoride gel application, mechanical plaque control, and chewing xylitol candy. In this study, we evaluate the effects of oral health programs among primary schoolchildren by comparing the oral health knowledge, oral health behaviors, and perception of caries prevention procedures. Data for this study were obtained from 699 primary schoolchildren at the two primary school in Daegu, Korea. One is experimental group, N primary school, that was established school-based oral health center under supervision of Nam-gu Public Health Center, the other is control group, N' primary school, that was yet to establish school-based oral health center. We surveyed children's oral health knowledge and behaviors, and perception of caries prevention procedures using self-administrated questionnaire and then analyzed differences of each item among two groups. The brief findings of this study were summarized as follows. There are several advantage to a comprehensive school-based oral health program. (1) School-based oral health programs facilitate and increase the effectiveness of teaching oral health subjects. (2) Schoolchildren are available for prevention or treatment procedure. (3) School-based oral health center may be less threating than private dental clinic. (4) With comprehensive school-based oral health programs the decayed, missing, and filled teeth(DMFT) of schoolchildren should demonstrate a substantial and steady decrease over time(Choi et al, 2004). In conclusion, treatment is not the answer to solving children's oral health programs; rather primary prevention is the key. Many countries and communities are focusing on hoe millions of underprivileged children can be provided with health care. Schoolchildren gain the knowledge and behaviors to attain and maintain good oral health in schools. For these reasons, the role of school-based oral health center is not only important but also a necessity.
Solvent extraction of Ni(II) into a chloroform by using salen[N,N'-Bis (salicylidene)-ethylenediamine] as a ligand has been studied. Salen was synthesized from ethylenediamine and salicylaldehyde by simple condensation reaction in an ethanol. Salen formed a 1 : 1 complex with Ni(II) and its extraction constant was $10^{5.12}$. For the determination of Ni(II) in sea water samples, some experimental conditions such as pH of solution, amount of salen, acid type and concentration for back extraction, extraction time, and influence of foreign ions were optimized by using a synthetic sea water. The sea water of which the composition was similar to a natural sea water was synthesized in this laboratory. Trace Ni(II) was extracted into the chloroform in the weak basic solution above pH 8. And the nickel could be quantitatively extracted with the concentration of salen higher than $1.2{\times}10^{-4}mol/L$. This concentration was more than 180 times of Ni(II) in the solution with a mole ratio. Real samples of Korean coastal sea water were analyzed under optimized conditions. Even though Ni(II) was not detected in these samples. Recoveries more than 98% were obtained in the samples which 40 ng/mL of Ni(II) was spiked. And detection limit of proposed method was 1.3 ng/mL. From these results, it could be known that salen of this type would be applied for the determination of trace metals as an organic chelating reagent.

The synergistic solvent extraction of Mn(II) by N-nitroso-N-phenylhydroxylamineammonium salt (cupferron) and tetrabutylammonium ion ($TBA^+$) has been studied. In the presence of $TBA^+$, over 95% Mn(II) was extracted from an aqueous solution into chloroform by the cupferron in the pH range of 4 to 10. But a part of Mn(II) was extracted with only cupferron. The ternary complex of Mn(II) was more efficiently extracted into $CH_2Cl_2$ and $CHCl_3$ than other nonpolar solvents. The extracted Mn(II) was determined in the back-extracted $HNO_3$ solution by GF-AAS. This fixed procedure was applied to the determination of trace Mn(II) in tap water samples of pH 5.0. The detection limit equivalent to 3 times standard deviation of the background absorption was 0.37 ng/mL and Mn(II) was determined with the range of 0.4 to 1.01 ng/mL in our laboratory's tap water. And the recovery was 94 to 107% in samples in which 2.0 ng/mL Mn(II) was spiked. The interferences of common concomitant elements such as Cu(II), Ca(II), Fe(III) and so on were not shown up to $10{\sim}20{\mu}g/mL$. From these results, this procedure could be concluded to be applied for the determination of trace Mn(II) in other environmental water samples.
Currently, many types of compound preparations are being used but the quality control guidelines for their use are lacking. In case of single compound drug, the quality control methods are specified in the pharmacopeia. However, there is no method to simultaneously analyze compound preparations. In this study, a simple validated analytical method for HPLC separation of chlorquinaldol and promestriene is introduced. Validation was divided into categories including linearity, precision, accuracy (recovery) and system suitability. The contents of the products which are on the market were monitored using the validated analytical method and the robustness of the analytical method was tested by conducting an inter-laboratory validation.
