A Study on Automatic Multi-Power Synchronous Transfer Switch using New DFT Comparator (새로운 DFT 비교기를 이용한 자동 다전원 동기절체 스위치에 관한 연구)

  • The UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) system operates in the battery charging mode when the grid is normal, and in the UPS mode, which is the battery discharge mode when a grid error occurs. Since the UPS must supply the same voltage as the grid to the load within 4 [ms] in case of a grid error, the switching time and power recovery time should be short when controlling the output voltage and current of the UPS, and the power failure detection time is also important. The power outage detection algorithm using DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) proposed in this paper compares the grid voltage waveform with the voltage waveform including the 9th harmonic generated through DFT using Schmitt trigger to detect power outage faster than the existing power outage monitoring algorithm. There are advantages. Therefore, it is possible to supply instant and stable power when switching modes in the UPS system. The multi-power-applied UPS system proposed in this paper uses DFT, which is faster than the conventional blackout monitoring algorithm in detecting power failure, to provide stable power to the load in a shorter time than the existing power outage monitoring algorithm when a system error occurs. The detection method was applied. The changeover time of mode switching was set to less than 4 [ms], which is 1/4 of the system cycle, in accordance with KSC 4310 regulation, which was established by the Industrial Standards Council on the regulation of uninterruptible power supply. A 10 [kW] UPS system in which commercial voltage, vehicle generator, and auxiliary diesel generator can be connected to each of the proposed transfer devices was constructed and the feasibility was verified by conducting an experiment.

  • In this paper, a discrete-time variable structure controller for linear time-varying sampled-data systems with disturbances is proposed. The proposed method guarantees that the system state if globally uniformly ultimately bounded (G.U.U.B), and the ultimate bound is shown to be the order of T, O(T), where T is a sampling period.

  • This paper presents a direct adaptive pole placement control scheme which is applicable to discretetime non-minimum phase systems. It is proved that by this scheme the poles can be placed at the desired locations and the overall state vector of the system is uniformly bounded if the reference input is sufficiently rich, and also proved that in case of insufficiently rich reference input the overall system can still be stabilized though the poles may not be placed exactly at the desired locations. The effectiveness of this scheme is verified by digital computer simulations.

  • In this paper, a parameter identification method for a discrete-time linear system using multi-layer neural network is proposed. The parameters are identified with the combination of weights and the output of neuraons of a neural network, which can be used for a linear and a nonlinear controller. An adaptive output tracking architecture is designed for the linear controller. And, the nonlinear controller. A sliding mode control law is applied to the stabilizing the nonlinear controller such that output errors can be reduced. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is illustrated through simulations.

  • We consider the $P_{\lambda}^M-service$ policy for an M/G/1 queueing system in which the workload is monitored randomly at discrete points in time. If the level of the workload exceeds a threshold ${\lambda}$ when it is monitored, then the service rate is increased from 1 to M instantaneously and is kept as M until the workload reaches zero. By using level-crossing arguments, we obtain explicit expressions for the stationary distribution of the workload in the system.

  • This paper deals with wafer temperature uniformity control essential in rapid thermal processing (RTP). One of the important control objectives of RTP is to keep the temperature over the wafer surface as uniformly as possible. For this, a discrete time state equation around the operating point is first identified by using the subspace fitting method, and a multivariable LQG(Linear Quadratic Gaussian) controller is designed based on the identified model. Simulation and experimental results show improvement in temperature uniformity over the conventional PID method.

  • In this paper, we developed a simulation model of a car parts assembly line to improve the system performance such as worker's utilization balancing, productivity. This simulation model has been developed using QUEST, a true 3D discrete event simulation pakcage that is designed for modeling and analysis of manufacturing systems. We have suggested the results obtained to improve the system performances of an existing production line.

  • An Automated Guided Vehicle System (AGVS) with a unidirectional loop guide path is modeled as a discrete-time stationary Markov chain. It is discussed how to estimate the mean response time, the utilization, and the cycle time of AGV for a delivery order. Three common operation strategies for idle vehicles - central zone positioning rule, circulatory loop positioning rule and point of release positioning rule - are analyzed. These different operation strategies are compared with each other based on the performance measures.
