Direct Position Determination of Coherently Distributed Sources based on Compressed Sensing with a Moving Nested Array

  • The existing direct position determinations(DPD) for coherently distributed(CD) sources are mostly applicable for uniform linear array(ULA), which result in a low degree of freedom(DOF), and it is difficult for them to realize the effective positioning in underdetermined condition. In this paper, a novel DPD algorithm for coherently distributed sources based on compressed sensing with a moving nested array is present. In this algorithm, the nested array is introduced to DPD firstly, and a positioning model of signal moving station based on nested array is constructed. Owing to the features of coherently distributed sources, the cost function of compressed sensing is established based on vectorization. For the sake of convenience, unconstrained transformation and convex transformation of cost functions are carried out. Finally, the position coordinates of the distribution source signals are obtained according to the theory of optimization. At the same time, the complexity is analyzed, and the simulation results show that, in comparison with two-step positioning algorithms and subspace-based algorithms, the proposed algorithm effectively solves the positioning problem in underdetermined condition with the same physical element number.

  • In this study, It is focused on development of the forecasting model about trumpet InterChange(IC) ramp accident because of the frequency of accident in ramp more than highway basic section and trend the increasing accident in ramp. The independent variables was selected through statistical analysis(correlation analysis, multi-collinearity etc) by ramp types(direct, semi-direct and loop). The independent variables and accident rate is non-linear relationship. So it made new variables by transformation of the independent variables. The forecasting models according to exit-ramp type (direct, semi-direct and loop) are built with statistical multi-variable regression using all possible regression method. And the forecasts of the models showed high accuracy statistically. It is expected that the developed models could be employed to design trumpet IC ramp more cost-efficiently and safely and to analyze the causes of traffic accidents happened on the IC ramp.

Camera Modelling of Linear Pushbroom Images - Quality analysis of various algorithms (대표적 위성영상 카메라 모델링 알고리즘들의 비교연구)

  • Commonly-used methods for camera modelling of pushbroom images were implemented and their performances were assessed. The models include Vector Propagation) model, Gugan and Downman(GD)'s model, Orun and Natarajan(ON)'s model, and Direct Linear Transformation(DLT) model The models were tested on a SPOT full-scene over Seoul. The number of ground control points(GCP) used range from 1 to 23. For less than 6 GCPs all other models fail except VP, with VP's accuracy being 2.7 pixels. With mode than 6 GCPs ON shows the best accuracy with 1pixel accuracy while the accuracy of VP is 1.5 pixels. GD fails in most cases due to the correlation among model parameters. The accuracy of DLT does not converge but fluctuates between 1 and 4 pixels subject to GCPs used. VP has an advantage in that its results can be used for the estimation of satellite orbit. Unresolved topics are: to remove errors in GCPs from the aforementioned accuracy value; to improve the performance of VP.

  • Usual practice of the transformation of a B-spline curve into a set of piecewise polynomial curves in a power form is done by either a knot refinement followed by basis conversions or applying a Taylor expansion on the B-spline curve for each knot span. Presented in this paper is a new algorithm, called a direct expansion algorithm, for the problem. The algorithm first locates the coefficients of all the linear terms that make up the basis functions in a knot span, and then the algorithm directly obtains the power form representation of basis functions by expanding the summation of products of appropriate linear terms. Then, a polynomial segment of a knot span can be easily obtained by the summation of products of the basis functions within the knot span with corresponding control points. Repeating this operation for each knot span, all of the polynomials of the B-spline curve can be transformed into a power form. The algorithm has been applied to both static and dynamic curves. It turns out that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing algorithms for the conversion for both types of curves. Especially, the proposed algorithm shows significantly fast performance for the dynamic curves.

  • An experimental method to identify the rigid properties (mass, moment of inertia, center of mass) of mounted structures is presented. A direct system identification method is developed and applied to identify the mass, damping and stiffness martix directly from the translational response of vibration testing. Conventional method is sensitive to noise since it needs artificial rotational response of temporary center of mass which is made by the linear transformation of translational response. A presented method needs only the translational response, and it is robuster to noise than conventional method. Several experimental and numerical implementations show the presented method is effective.

  • In this study, we analyzed the accuracy of the conversion from DLT parameters to physical camera parameters and optimized the use of DLT model for non-metric cameras in photogrammetric tasks. Using the simulated data, we computed two sets of physical camera parameters from DLT parameters and Bundle adjustment for various cases. Comparing two results based on the RMSE values of check points, we optimized the arrangement of GCPs for DLT.

  • The control of a pH value in radwaste treatment process is difficult due to the nonlinearity of the titration curve and its strong sensivity to disturbances. This paper describes an adaptive control strategy which is model-based and allows for direct use of available measurements. This algorithm forces the nonlinear process to follow a desired linear system trajectory, and were applied to the control of a simulated pilot-scale pH process. The simulation study showed that it has the potential advantage over the transformation methods that control effort saturation can be accomodated readily.

  • The essential tasks to operate the welding robot are the acquisition of the position and/or shape of the parent metal. For the seam tracking or the robot automation, many kinds of contact and non-contact sensors are used. Recently, the vision sensor is most popular. In this paper, the development of the system which measures the profile of the welding part is described. The total system will be assembled into a compact module which can be attached to the head of welding robot system. This system uses the line-type structured laser diode and the vision sensor It implemented Direct Linear Transformation (DLT) for the camera calibration as well as radial distortion correction. The three dimensional shape of the parent metal is obtained after simple linear transformation and therefore, the system operates in real time. Some experiments are carried out to evaluate the performance of the developed system.

  • The robot systems are widely used in the many industrial field as well as welding manufacturing. The essential tasks to operate the welding robot are the acquisition of the position and/or shape of the parent metal. For the seam tracking or the robot tracking, many kinds of contact and non-contact sensors are used. Recently, the vision is most popular. In this paper, the development of the system which measures the shape of the welding part is described. This system uses the line-type structured laser diode and the vision sensor. It includes the correction of radial distortion which is often found in the image taken by the camera with short focal length. The Direct Linear Transformation (DLT) method is used for the camera calibration. The three dimensional shape of the parent metal is obtained after simple linear transformation. Some demos are shown to describe the performance of the developed system.

  • If an arbitrary topography is approximated to a number of vertical steps, both variational approximation and eigenfunction expansion method can be used to compute linear wave transformation over the bottom. In this study a scatterer method associated with variational approximation is proposed to calculate reflection and transmission coefficients. Present method may be shown to be more simple and direct than the successive-application-matrix method by O'Hare and Davies. And Several numerical examples are given which are in good agreement with existing results.
