A 2-GHz 8-bit Successive Approximation Digital-to-Phase Converter (2 GHz 8 비트 축차 비교 디지털-위상 변환기)

  • Phase interpolation is widely adopted in frequency synthesizers and clock-and-data recovery systems to produce an intermediate phase from two existing phases. The intermediate phase is typically generated by combining two input phases with different weights. Unfortunately, this results in non-uniform phase steps. Alternatively, the intermediate phase can be generated by successive approximation, where the interpolated phase at each approximation stage is obtained using the same weight for the two intermediate phases. As a proof of concept, this study presents a 2-GHz 8-bit successive approximation digital-to-phase converter that is designed using 65-nm CMOS technology. The converter receives an 8-phase clock signal as input, and the most significant bit (MSB) section selects four phases to create two sinusoidal waveforms using a harmonic rejection filter. The remaining least significant bit (LSB) section applies the successive approximation to generate the required intermediate phase. Monte-Carlo simulations show that the proposed converter exhibits 0.46-LSB integral nonlinearity and 0.31-LSB differential nonlinearity with a power consumption of 3.12 mW from a 1.2-V supply voltage.

Intermediate View Image and its Digital Hologram Generation for an Virtual Arbitrary View-Point Hologram Service (임의의 가상시점 홀로그램 서비스를 위한 중간시점 영상 및 디지털 홀로그램 생성)

  • This paper proposes an intermediate image generation method for the viewer's view point by tracking the viewer's face, which is converted to a digital hologram. Its purpose is to increase the viewing angle of a digital hologram, which is gathering higher and higher interest these days. The method assumes that the image information for the leftmost and the rightmost view points within the viewing angle to be controlled are given. It uses a stereo-matching method between the leftmost and the rightmost depth images to obtain the pseudo-disparity increment per depth value. With this increment, the positional informations from both the leftmost view point and the rightmost view point are generated, which are blended to get the information at the wanted intermediate viewpoint. The occurrable dis-occlusion region in this case is defined and a inpainting method is proposed. The results from implementing and experimenting this method showed that the average image qualities of the generated depth and RGB image were 33.83[dB] and 29.5[dB], respectively, and the average execution time was 250[ms] per frame. Also, we propose a prototype system to service digital hologram interactively to the viewer by using the proposed intermediate view generation method. It includes the operations of data acquisition for the leftmost and the rightmost viewpoints, camera calibration and image rectification, intermediate view image generation, computer-generated hologram (CGH) generation, and reconstruction of the hologram image. This system is implemented in the LabView(R) environments, in which CGH generation and hologram image reconstruction are implemented with GPGPUs, while others are implemented in software. The implemented system showed the execution speed to process about 5 frames per second.

  • A digital in-line holographic particle image velocimetry (HPIV) which can be applied to measure three-dimensional velocity fields of turbulent flows was developed. There are three different implementation methods of HPIV: traditional film-based HPIV, intermediate HPIV and digital HPIV. The traditional film-based HPIV and intermediate HPIV method is rather troublesome to do experiments and takes long calculation time, compared with the digital HPIV, Configuration of the digital in-line HPIV is simple and the data processing routine is similar to conventional 2D PIV methods. The digital HPIV velocity field measurement consists of four steps: recording, numerical reconstruction, particle extraction and velocity extraction. In the velocity extraction process, we improved PTV algorithm to extract the displacement of particle each placed in 3D space. The developed digital in-line HPIV system was applied to a vertical jet flow. The 3D velocity vectors measured by the digital HPIV method in the near field are in a good agreement with 2D PIV results.

The reason which uses Digital IF techniques is configured of passive elements and the positions IF frequency domains are fixed and they do not use in the position one frequency but, the external fringe land of the board which comes to be configured with Digital IF without from the communication frequency domain which is various there to be a flexibility, the use was under possibility. Like this configuration compares in analog Heterodyne mode of existing and it has the performance upgrade which is excellent it shows a high flexibility.

  • Java bytecode verification is a critical process to guarantee the safety of transmitted Java applet on the web or contemporary embedded devices. We propose a design of framework which enables to analyze and verify java bytecode. The designed framework translates from a java bytecode into the intermediate representation which can specify a properties of program without using an operand stack. Using the framework is able to produce automatically error specifications that could be occurred in a program and express specifications annotated in intermediate representation by a user. Furthermore we design a verification condition generator which converts from an intermediate representation to a verification condition, a verification engine which verifies verification conditions from verification condition generator, and a result reporter which displays results of verification.

  • This paper presents the implementation of IS-95 CDMA signal processor, baseband and Intermediate Frequency(IF) digital converter using Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) and ADC/DAC and frequency up/down converter IS-95 CDMA channel processor is generated the pilot channel signal with short PN code and Walsh-code generator. The digital If is composed of FPGA. digital transmit/receive signal processor and high speed analog-to-digital converter(ADC) and digital-to-analog converter(DAC). The frequency up/down converter consisted of filter, mixer, digital attenuator and PLL is analog conversion between intermediate frequency(IF) and baseband. This implemented system can be deployed in the IS-95 CDMA base station device etc.

  • This paper proposes a algorithm that generate the intermediate scene from the stereo image. This system based on mesh representation method, and segmented objects which ar calculated from triangles the pro proposed algorithm is composed of two steps. One is triangle grouping using gestalt theory, and the other is disparity estimation using average disparity of segmented object. We make an experiment on the proposed algorithm with some stereo images and obtain good quality disparity map for intermediate scenes.

  • This paper proposes a low-Power DDC(Digital Down Converters) architecture for IF(Intermediate frequency) signal processing. It is shown that concept of conventional interpolated FIR filters can be expanded to IIR filters for DDC applications. Also in the paper, power dissipations for the proposed architecture and conventional ones are estimated.

  • Digital cinema industry in Korea is developing very fast. It makes the structure of Korea film industry being changed with outstanding D.I process, reduction of production cost, the convenience of distribution & screening and easy transferring to other platforms. The main reason of this fast development is due to Korea film industry monopoly structure by a few companies. In addition, Huge Korea mobile communication companies are pushing Digital cinema industry to go faster with their own net work and platforms. However, Korea digital cinema industry still has problems like standardization in releasing, the lake of data in post-production and overuse in production. It is the time that we have to think about best way for the healthy development of Korea digital cinema industry more than the fast development of it.
