Performance of CVTs Composed of a Differential Gear Unit and a V-belt Drive (차동기어장치와 V-벨트식 변속기구를 결합한 무단변속기의 성능)

  • Continuously variable transmission (CVT) mechanisms considered here combine the functions of a K-H-V type differential gear unit and a V-belt type continuously variable unit (CVU). As combining the functions of a K-H-V type differential gear unit and a V-belt type CVU, 24 different mechanisms are presented. Some useful theoretical formula related to speed ratio, power flow and efficiency are derived and analyzed. These mechanisms have many advantages which are the decrease of CVT size, the increase of overall efficiency, the extension of speed ratio range, and the generation of geared neutral.

  • We investigate the possibility of using adiabatic logic as a countermeasure against differential power analysis (DPA) style attacks to make use of its energy efficiency. Like other dual-rail logics, adiabatic logic exhibits a current dependence on input data, which makes the system vulnerable to DPA. To resolve this issue, we propose a symmetric adiabatic logic in which the discharge paths are symmetric for data-independent parasitic capacitance, and the charges are shared between the output nodes and between the internal nodes, respectively, to prevent the circuit from depending on the previous input data.

  • For high-accuracy signal processing of differential capacitance transducers, an interface circuitry based on a switched-capacitor sample/hold circuit is developed. Driven by nonoverlapping two-phase clocks, the interface produces the output voltage which is proportional to the ratio of difference-to-sum of two capacitors of a differential transducer. Performances of a prototype chip fabricated using 0.6 $\mu\textrm{m}$ n-well CMOS process were measured and compared with those simulated by HSPICE. The measured results indicate that 0.1% resolution is achievable with the proposed interface and the temperature-dependence of the interface is small enough fur practical applications.

  • In this paper, we demonstrate a fully integrated X-band image rejection down converter, which was developed using InGaP/GaAs HBT MMIC technology, consists of two single-balanced mixers, a differential buffer amplifier, a differential YCO, an LO quadratue generator, a three-stage polyphase filter, and a differential intermediate frequency(IF) amplifier. The X-band image rejection downconverter yields an image rejection ratio of over 25 dB, a conversion gain of over 2.5 dB, and an output-referred 1-dB compression power$(P_{1dB,OUT})$ of - 10 dBm. This downconverter achieves broadband image rejection characteristics over a frequency range of 1.1 GHz with a current consumption of 60 mA from a 3-V supply.

  • This paper presents static output feedback LQ and $H_{\infty}$ controllers for rollover prevention. Linear quadratic static output feedback controllers have been proposed for rollover prevention in such a way to minimize the lateral acceleration and the roll angle. Rollover prevention capability can be enhanced if $H_{\infty}$ controller is designed. To avoid full-state measurement for feedback requirement or sensitiveness of an observer to nonlinear model error, static output feedback is adopted. To design static output feedback controllers, Kosut's method is adopted because it is simple to calculate. Differential braking and active anti-roll bar are adopted as actuators that generate yaw and roll moments, respectively. The proposed method is shown to be effective in preventing rollover through the simulations on nonlinear multi-body dynamic simulation software, CarSim.

  • In this paper, a high-reliability differential paired 24-bit eFuse OTP memory with program-verify-read mode for PMICs is designed. In the proposed program-verify-read mode, the eFuse OTP memory can do a sensing margin test with a variable pull-up load in consideration of programmed eFuse resistance variation and can output a comparison result through a PFb (pass fail bar) pin by comparing a programmed datum with its read one. It is verified by simulation results that the sensing resistance is lower with $4k{\Omega}$ in case of the designed differential paired eFuse OTP memory than $50k{\Omega}$ in case of its dual-port eFuse OTP memory.

  • The input-output relation for nonlinear systems can be explicitly represented by the Voltera functional series and it is characterized by the Volterra Kernels. A block diagram reduction method is introduced to determine the Volterra Kernels for the nonlinear systems represented by nonlinear differential equations. Degree of nonlinearity is defined and analyzed for the analysis of nonlinear systems.

  • Micro hydraulic turbines take a growing interest because of its small and simple structure as well as high possibility of applying to micro and small hydropower resources. The differential pressure exiting within the city water pipelines can be used efficiently to generate electricity like the energy generated through gravitational potential energy in dams. In order to reduce water pressure at the inlet of water cleaning centers, pressure reducing valves are used widely. Therefore, pressure energy is wasted. Instead of using the pressure reduction valve, a micro counter-rotating hydraulic turbine can be replaced to get energy caused by the large differential pressure found in the city water pipelines. In this paper, detail studies have been carried out to acquire basic design data of micro counter-rotating hydraulic turbine, output power, head, and efficiency characteristics on various number of runner vane. Moreover, the influences of pressure, tangential and axial velocity distributions on turbine performance are also investigated.

  • 본 논문에서는 class AB opamp 를 채용한 384kHz differential PWM 신호를 입력으로 하는 2-channel stereo audio amplifier 블록을 공급전압 3.3V 조건에서 SMIC 0.18um thick oxide 기술을 이용하여 설계한다. 여기서 class AB opamp 는 공정 변화에 따른 quiescent current가 변하는 것을 최소화하기 위하여 adaptive load 를 사용하며, 전체적으로는 3 차 Butterworth lowpass filter 와 differential-to-single converter 로 구성된 2 개의 audio amplifier 와 출력전압이 ${\frac{1}{2}}Vdd$ 인 common output 블록으로 구성된다. 이러한 설계를 통하여 32ohm 의 저항 load 를 구동할 수 있는 -60dB THD, 전체 quiescent current 2mA 대인 CMOS class AB stereo audio amplifier 를 구현하였다.

A 5-GHz Band CCNF VCO Having Phase Noise of -87 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz Offset

  • In this paper, we present a new current-current negative feedback(CCNF) differential voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with 1/f induced low-frequency noise suppressed. By means of the CCNF, the 1/f induced low-frequency noise is removed from the proposed CCNF VCO. Also, high-frequency noise is stopped from being down-converted into phase noise by means of the increased output impedance through the CCNF and the feedback capacitor $C_f. The proposed CCNF VCO represents 11-dB reduction in phase noise at 10 kHz offset, compared with the conventional differential VCO. The phase noise of the proposed CCNF VCO is measured as - 87 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset frequency from 5.5-GHz carrier. The proposed CCNF VCO consumes 14.0 mA at 2.0 V supply voltage, and shows single-ended output power of - 12 dBm.
