Influence Diagram Approach for Strategic Decision Structuring Process

  • The influence diagram is a new conceptual tool that can be used for structuring a strategic decision problem in decision analysis. It has a graphical representation of probabilistic dependence among variables in the decision problem. In this formal procedures for constructuring the influence diagram and for translating it into the corresponding decision tree are studied. An example that shows the power of the infuence diagram is shown.

  • This raper propose a matching algorithm using voronoi diagram for rotation and translation invariant fingerprint identification. The proposed algorithm extracts geometrical structures that ate derived from voronoi diagram of a fingerprint image. Then distances and angles are extracted from the geometrical structure and saved indexing form for fingerprint matching. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm invariant to fingerprint rotation and translation requirements and matching time.

  • The study presents an efficient design method of Venn Diagram that can be used when implementing the quality design of experiments based on generalizability theory. The paper examines four mixed and combined models that are designed by fixed factor, random factor, crossed factor and nested factor. The models considered in this research are $A^*{\times}B^*{\times}C$, (B: $A^*$)${\times}C$, $A{\times}B{\times}C$ and (B: A)${\times}C$.

  • This paper presents a method of constructing the digital logic systems(DLS) using edge-valued decision diagrams(EVDD). The proposed method is as following. The EVDD is a new data structure type of decision diagram(DD) that is recently used in constructing the digital logic systems based on the graph theory. Next, we apply EVDD to function minimization of digital logic systems. The proposed method has the visible, schematical and regular properties.

  • Recently, location-based services which provides k nearest POIs, e.g., gas stations, restaurants and banks, are essential such applications as telematics, ITS(Intelligent Transport Systems) and kiosk. For this, the Voronoi Diagram k-NN(Nearest Neighbor) search algorithm has been proposed. It retrieves k-NNs by using a file storing pre-computed network distances of POIs in Voronoi diagram. However, this algorithm causes the cost problem when expanding a Voronoi diagram. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an algorithm which generates a matrix of the shortest distance between border points of a Voronoi diagram. The shortest distance is measured each border point to all of the rest border points of a Voronoi Diagram. To retrieve desired k nearest POIs, we also propose a k-NN search algorithm using the matrix of the shortest distance. The proposed algorithms can m inim ize the cost of expanding the Voronoi diagram by accessing the pre-computed matrix of the shortest distances between border points. In addition, we show that the proposed algorithm has better performance in terms of retrieval time, compared with existing works.

A Microscopic Analysis on the Shapes of Fundamental Diagram Using Time Gap (차간시간(Time Gap) 변수를 이용한 교통기본도(Fundamental Diagram)의 미시적 해석)

  • The fundamental diagram is a important element in a variety of transportation studies. While various shapes of the fundamental diagram have been proposed and numerous debates on the best-fit fundamental diagram have been made, the reason why the fundamental diagram has many different shapes has not been well explained. This study introduces time sap as a key parameter to understand drivers' behavioral differences at different locations and traffic conditions, then relate to the shape of the fundamental diagram. From the freeway event detector data, it is shown that time gap follows a certain probabilistic distribution and its mean value varies along locations. It also turns out that drivers take different time gaps for different travel speeds. Three different types of time gap-speed diagrams are identified and matched to Greenberg, reversed-lambda, and inverted-V types of fundamental diagrams, respectively. This study explains the characteristics of fundamental diagrams using time gap as a microscopic variable and describes drivers' behavioral characteristics according to traffic and geometric conditions.

  • Low-cost and automated isolux diagram measurement system are investigated. The system is constructed with illuminance measurement array, analog multiplexer, A/D converter and 16-bit microcomputer. The experimental results show good agreement with the measured illuminance values. Decreasing the measure-spacing, the more accurate diagram can be obtained.

  • This paper presents the establishment of the information of metadata for an Authorization tool of UML class diagram. When it comes to modeling classes in UML class diagram, the paper defines expressed classes and the relationship. The class represents the concept of an object, which defines Name, Attribute and Operation. The relationship is between classes, which defines the name and the type of the Relationship, From Class and To Class. And it suggests how to handle and process the information of metadata for an authorization tool of UML class diagram.

  • Most formulations for a forming limit diagram (FLD) have been based on yield stress potentials defined in the stress field. Nevertheless, there are formulations where potentials defined in the stain-rate field are especially convenient to formulate the rigid plastic material. Based on a strain-rate potential proposed for materials exhibiting planar anisotropic, the formulations for the forming limit diagram has been developed applying M-K theory. As verification example, the formulation is applied for anisotropic AA5182-O sheet. The good verification results show that the formulation for the forming limit diagram has been successfully developed.
