Development of Character Goods Content Utilizing Marker-based Augmented Reality (마커기반 증강현실을 활용한 캐릭터 굿즈 콘텐츠 개발)

  • Recently, there has been growing interest in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with a particular focus on the advancement of augmented reality (AR) devices. However, there is a shortage of AR content. Augmented reality operates through marker-based and markerless methods. The marker-based approach involves using a camera to capture images that serve as markers, enhancing them through AR principles. To address the scarcity of AR content and improve the quality of character goods, this study proposes integrating AR technology into character goods. The character industry is expanding each year, leading to a diverse range of character goods. Character acrylic stands, among these goods, leverage game, webtoon, and animation character IPs for sales. To enhance the design process, we utilized the character image as a marker, allowing for the creation of content that aligns with the characteristics of the character IP. We selected a webtoon character and developed AR content, incorporating features such as voice, speech bubbles, and an introduction to the webtoon, tailored to the webtoon's characteristics. This study demonstrates the potential of AR to present visual and auditory information, paving the way for a variety of products, including diverse content. We anticipate that utilizing this research will lead to the emergence of products encompassing various contents.

A Novel Character Segmentation Method for Text Images Captured by Cameras

  • Due to the rapid development of mobile devices equipped with cameras, instant translation of any text seen in any context is possible. Mobile devices can serve as a translation tool by recognizing the texts presented in the captured scenes. Images captured by cameras will embed more external or unwanted effects which need not to be considered in traditional optical character recognition (OCR). In this paper, we segment a text image captured by mobile devices into individual single characters to facilitate OCR kernel processing. Before proceeding with character segmentation, text detection and text line construction need to be performed in advance. A novel character segmentation method which integrates touched character filters is employed on text images captured by cameras. In addition, periphery features are extracted from the segmented images of touched characters and fed as inputs to support vector machines to calculate the confident values. In our experiment, the accuracy rate of the proposed character segmentation system is 94.90%, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Under the ambiguous situation that Id character design aim is not defined, this study would help designers with 1. overcoming the limitation of character form generation ability by establishing visual application system, 2. accepting users'opinions by generating character images dynamically, analysing and giving information on the preferred ones on the web on real time, 3. identifying tendency of preference so that they can generate preferred colors and images in future by updating image combination and dropping low-preferred ones. this system would play a role as an idea or character form generation application in the 3d character design development process

Effects of an SSI-based Program for Engineering College Students on Character and Values (공과대학 학생을 위한 과학기술관련 사회·윤리 쟁점기반 수업이 인성과 가치관에 미치는 효과 탐색)

  • This study explores the effects of an SSI-based program focused on character and values for engineering college students. The participants were fifty-four students enrolled in the program. Data sources include the students' responses to the Likert-type questionnaire on character and values as well as qualitative data such as classroom dialogues, assignment essays and field notes. The results indicate that the program significantly contributed to the enhancement of the engineering college students' perception of character and values, especially in the sub-components, sustainable development, perspective-taking, and willingness to act. In addition, the qualitative data reveals the nuances of the students' responses in the classroom dialogue and essays related to the sub-components. Based on the results, the author compares the participants' responses to other students in previous research which reported the effects of an SSI-based program on character and values. Compared to the other students, the engineering students in this study cultivated willingness to act through the SSI-based program, without improvement in most of the emotional aspects of character and values.

  • The purpose of the current study is to investigate parents' understanding and needs for character education in early childhood and during elementary education and to suggest policy implications effective character education for young children. Using focus group interviews, we collected qualitative data from 14 mothers in Seoul, Korea. The mothers were unclear about the definition of character education for their children and about their role in teaching proper values during the early years of their children's development. Most mothers with preschoolers were satisfied with the character education their children were receiving, whereas mothers with children in elementary school were not satisfied with the character education provided by school. The mothers expressed their concerns about the reliability of the teachers and schools of their children. As policy implications, providing regular parent education, activating parent-teacher associations, and strengthening the partnership through support from the community are suggested.

  • In recent years, the emergence of a number of AI image generation software represented by [Midjourney] has brought great impetus to the development of the field of AI-assisted art creation. Compared with the traditional hand-painted digital painting with the aid of electronic equipment, broke the traditional sense of animation character creation logic.This paper analyzes the application of AI technology in the field of animation character design through the practice of two-dimensional animation character . This is having a significant impact on the productivity and innovation of animation design and character modeling. The key results of the analysis indicate that AI technology, particularly through the utilization of "Midjourney,"enables the automation of certain design tasks, provides innovative approaches, and generates visually appealing and realistic characters. In conclusion, the integration of AI technology, specifically the application of "Midjourney," brings a new dimension to animation character design. The utilization of AI image generation software facilitates streamlined workflows, sparks creativity, and improves the overall quality of animated characters. As the animation industry continues to evolve, AI-assisted tools like "Midjourney" hold great potential for further advancement and innovation.

This thesis aims to study on the character of 'namsadang' group what have been produced in ansung-si, that the show up to people about an-sung 4D Contents what local actually character and to make it more competitive through 3D,4D spacial character project developing process. It is need for new various characters, that (3D,4D-VFX) -Graphics of new an-sung'namsadang' group. that will be total different and new development. total VFX; 4-Dimantion visual graphics released in next an-sung local festival, Business prospects are bright and receiving benefits are increasing. As seen in the case of the character of in 2015, it can be a measure to earn benefits as a higher value-added business if it is managed in the local autonomous entities. In this thesis, I propose what the of character in the local special graphics; VFX style characters design. also I was show up to '4D contents character;' ; 'namsadang' group; creative processing including planing. It is possible to be ranged from special 4D series animation, a feature-length special effct cartoon film, character products, and even local doom Theme parks show up film. which are all expected high profits. These profits will be returned back to the an-sung local autonomous entity, who can use them to develop new contents, one of foundations in local economy. As a result, it is helpful to make local traits and effective tourist attractions.

  • Locality documentation and archival contents development cover local historical characters that are mirrors reflecting localities. The study is to propose a methodology of designing archival contents for documenting a local historical character representing the locality based on his/her records. By the methodology, sample archival contents, Park Ki-jong contents is designed because he is the most representative of the locality of Busan between the late 1800 and the early 1900. Firstly, it asks a question on how it chooses a character representing the target locality. After the character is selected, his/her life and context is analysed. Based on the analysis, it set up the coverage of developing the contents and identifies relevant records and materials. Finally, the archival content for a local historical character is designed. It is important that the study proposes a method of developing archival contents which can be applied to a character-oriented archival contents development. For reviewing the applicability of the method, it is expected of further practical uses in character-oriented archival contents development representing the localities.

  • This study focuses on the application of landscape planning(i.e. including rural landscape character area designation and rural landscape planning etc.). That application of landscape planning provides the probably most operable and comprehensive version of what is generally accepted by the discipline. According to the planning discipline the schemes of planning are to; Firstly, we derived the improvement of landscape and the methods of landscape characterization subsequent to analyze the present condition and grasp the landscape resources in Yesan via reviewing the current study and field survey. Secondly, in order to achieve environmentally friendly rural landscape plan and characteristic rural landscape creation, we planed the draft landscape area such as woodland, hydrology area, urbanized area, rural communities, etc. which was classified by sphere of life moreover, we planed partly outdoor facilities, road and colour suchlike. Thirdly, we tried to seek the programme of conservation and utilization for scenic and characteristic rural landscape area via rural landscape character area designation. Lastly, it is proposed that rural landscape planning lead to inhabitant participation, system improvement, subject performance for carrying out efficient rural landscape planning.

  • This paper aims at describing a series development of the electrical machine, by using the Similarity Theory. The character of the electrical machine defined as the Four Terminal Network of the electrical and mechanical energy transmission system, and the analogy theory of the modelmachine can be developed by the Four Termianl System. Also the Restriction Parameter and Disturbance Parameter can be founded by the comparative data of the developed machine that is the character of the theory and measurement.
