  • Well-ordered nanocolumnar indium oxide ($In_2O_3$) thin films have been successfully fabricated by glancing angle deposition (GAD) using an e-beam evaporator. Nanocolumnar structures have a porous and large surface area with a narrow neck between nanocolumns, which allows them to detect minute amounts of gases. The nanocolumnar $In_2O_3$ thin films were fabricated by the GAD process at five different positions, viz. top, bottom, center, left, and right in a four inch substrate holder. There was a divergence in the thickness and the base resistance of each sensor. However, all the sensors exhibited extremely high sensitivity that was greater than $10^3$ times the change in electrical resistance after being exposed to 50 ppm of acetone gas at $300^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, the nanocolumnar $In_2O_3$ sensors displayed an extremely low detection limit (1.2 ppb) in dry atmosphere as well as in high humidity (80%). We demonstrated that the GAD nanocolumnar $In_2O_3$ sensors have an enormous potential for many applications owing to their particularly simple and reliable fabrication process.

  • In this research, we have explored personal authentication system through multimodal biometrics for mobile computing environment. We have selected face and speaker recognition for the implementation of multimodal biometrics system. For face recognition part, we detect the face with Modified Census Transform (MCT). Detected face is pre-processed through eye detection module based on k-means algorithm. Then we recognize the face with Principal Component Analysis (PCA) algorithm. For speaker recognition part, we extract features using the end-point of voice and the Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC). Then we verify the speaker through Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) algorithm. Our proposed multimodal biometrics system shows improved verification rate through combining two different biometrics described above. We implement our proposed system based on Android environment using Galaxy S hoppin. Proposed system presents reduced false acceptance ratio (FAR) of 1.8% which shows improvement from single biometrics system using the face and the voice (presents 4.6% and 6.7% respectively).

  • The LiDAR sensor is attracting attention as a key sensor for autonomous driving vehicle. LiDAR sensor provides measured three-dimensional lengths within range using LASER. However, as much data is provided to the external system, it is difficult to process such data in an external system or processor of the vehicle. To resolve these issues, we develop integrated processing system for LiDAR sensor. The system is configured that client receives data from LiDAR sensor and processes data, server gathers data from clients and transmits integrated data in real-time. The test was carried out to ensure real-time processing of the system by changing the data acquisition, processing method and process driving method of process. As a result of the experiment, when receiving data from four LiDAR sensors, client and server process was operated using background or multi-core processing, the system response time of each client was about 13.2 ms and the server was about 12.6 ms.

  • In this paper, an electrochemical sensor for epinephrine (EP), a neurotransmitter was developed by anchoring molecularly imprinted polymeric matrix (MIP) on the surface of gold-coated quartz crystal electrode of electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) using starch nanoparticles (Starch NP) - reduced graphene oxide (RGO) nanocomposite as polymeric format for the first time. Use of EP in therapeutic treatment requires proper dose and route of administration. Proper follow-up of neurological disorders and timely diagnosis of them has been found to depend on EP level. The MIP sensor was developed by electrodeposition of starch NP-RGO composite on EQCM electrode in presence of template EP. As the imprinted sites are located on the surface, high specific surface area enables good accessibility and high binding affinity to template molecule. Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and piezoelectrogravimmetry were used for monitoring binding/release, rebinding of template to imprinted cavities. MIP-coated EQCM electrode were characterized by contact angle measurements, AFM images, piezoelectric responses including viscoelasticity of imprinted films, and other voltammetric measurements including direct (DPV) and indirect (using a redox probe) measurements. Selectivity was assessed by imprinting factor (IF) as high as 3.26 (DPV) and 3.88 (EQCM). Sensor was rigorously checked for selectivity in presence of other structurally close analogues, real matrix (blood plasma), reproducibility, repeatability, etc. Under optimized conditions, the EQCM-MIP sensor showed linear dynamic ranges ($1-10{\mu}M$). The limit of detection 40 ppb (DPV) and 290 ppb (EQCM) was achieved without any cross reactivity and matrix effect indicating high sensitivity and selectivity for EP. Hence, an eco-friendly MIP-sensor with high sensitivity and good selectivity was fabricated which could be applied in "real" matrices in a facile manner.

  • Recent technological advances and industry changes, the game industry is maximizing fun by supporting cross-play that can be enjoyed by different platform users in PC, Mobile and Console games. If the boundaries are lost through the cross play, unexpected security threats can occur due to new services, even if existing security is maintained above a certain level. The existing online game security researches are mostly fraud detection that can occur in PC and mobile environment, but it is also necessary to study the security of the console game as cross play becomes possible. Therefore, this paper systematically identifies the security threats that can occur when enjoying cross play against console game users using STRIDE and LINDDUN threat modeling, derives security requirements using the international common evaluation standard.

  • In recent years, dangerous materials and gas leak accidents have been frequently occurred. The hazardous materials storage facility accidents are not rapidly controlled when a leak is detected, unlike other chemical plants can be controled. Externally, the human has to approach and respond to the source of leaking directly. As a result, the human and material damage are likely to larger result in the process. The current approach has been passive response after ringing the alarm. In this study, the suggested tracking system of the leak resource is designed system to track the resource actively by utilizing the mobile sensor robot platform, which can be made easily through recent rapid development technology, is verified through prototype system. Thus, a suggested system should pave the way for minimizing the spread and damage of the accident based on the exact site situation of the initial leak and quick and early measures.

  • Hydrogen energy has positive effects as an alternative energy source to overcome the energy shortage issues. On the other hand, since stability is very important in use, sensor technology that enables accurate and rapid detection of hydrogen gas is highly required. In this study, hydrogen sensor was developed on AlGaN/GaN heterostructure platform using Pd catalyst where a recess structure was employed to improve the sensitivity. Temperature and bias voltage dependencies on sensitivity were carefully investigated using a hydrogen concentration of 4% that is the safety threshold concentration. Due to the excellent properties of AlGaN/GaN heterostructure in conjunction with the recess structure, a very high sensitivity of 56% was achieved with a fast response speed of 0.75 sec.
