In this paper, to satisfy the safety and economy immediately, we assume the center of lateral load in case the dynamic motion of the torsionally unbalanced structure is transformed into the static lateral load using modal analysis and proposes a method to control the design eccentricity in order to make the center of lateral load coincide with the center of strength. And when the structure is designed by proposed method, it is shown that the structure designed by proposed method does not demand excessive additional ductility in comparison with the structure designed by provisions of other seismic building code.
A new fast-response high-current clamp DC-DC converter circuit design is presented that will meet the requirements and features of the new generation of microprocessors and digital systems. The clamp in the proposed converter amplifies the current in case of severe load changes and is able to produce high slew rate of output current and capability to keep constant the output voltage. This proposed high-current clamp technique is theoretically loss less, low cost and easy to implement with simple control scheme. This is modified from a basic buck topology by replacing the output inductor with two magnetically coupled inductors. Inductors are difference in inductance, one has large inductance and other has small inductance. The inductor with small inductance will take over the output inductor during fast load transient. It speedup the output current slew rate and reduce the output voltage drop in the case of heavy burden load changes.
Prestressed ground anchors are important structural elements in geotechnical engineering. Despite their widespread usage, the design process is often significantly simplified. One of the major drawbacks of commonly used design methods is the assumption that skin friction is mobilized uniformly along an anchor's fixed length, one consequence of which is that a progressive failure phenomenon is neglected. The following paper introduces an alternative design approach - a computer algorithm employing the load-transfer method. The method is modified for the analysis of anchors and combined with a procedure for the derivation of load-transfer functions based on commonly available laboratory tests. The load-transfer function is divided into a pre-failure (hardening) and a post-failure (softening) segment. In this way, an aspect of non-linear stress-strain soil behavior is incorporated into the algorithm. The influence of post-grouting in terms of radial stress update, diameter enlargement, and grout consolidation is included. The axial stiffness of the anchor body is not held constant. Instead, it gradually decreases as a direct consequence of tensile cracks spreading in the grout material. An analysis of the program's operation is performed via a series of parametric studies in which the influence of governing parameters is investigated. Finally, two case studies concerning three investigation anchor load tests are presented.
One of the instances which demand structural engineer's greatest attention and upgradation is the changing live load requirement in bridge design code. The challenge increases in developing countries as the pace of infrastructural growth is being catered by the respective country codes with bigger and heavier vehicles to be considered in the design. This paper presents the case study of India where Indian Roads Congress (IRC) codes in its revised version from 2014 to 2017 introduced massive Special vehicle (SV) around 40 m long and weighing 3850 kN to be considered in the design of road bridges. The code does not specify the minimum distance between successive special vehicles unlike other loading classes and hence the consequences of it form the motivation for this study. The effect of SV in comparison with Class 70R, Class AA, Class A, and Class B loading is studied based on the maximum bending moment with moving load applied in Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis. The spans considered in the analysis varied from 10 m to 1991 m corresponding to the span of Akashi Kaikyo Bridge (longest bridge span in the world). A total of 182 analyses for 7 types of vehicles (class B, class A, class 70R tracked, class 70R wheeled, class AA tracked, AA wheeled, and Special vehicle) on 26 different span lengths is carried out. The span corresponding to other vehicles which would equal the bending moment of a single SV is presented along with a comparison relative to Standard Uniformly Distributed Load. Further, the results are presented by introducing a new parameter named Intensity Factor which is proven to relate the effect of axle spacing of vehicle on the normalized bending moment developed.

Case studies published in Korea versus the low ground fault is applied on the bridge based on theory or experience in the design of pile bearing capacity by the value of the expression is designed to conduct field tests Disclosure Load bearing capacity value, the result of applying a reasonable construction cost savings of approximately 10 eokyeowon Has, in the design of site investigation was insufficient to require additional efforts. Apply the appropriate value from the extra support in the design of accurate ground survey and air speed to cut the budget and social technology can ensure the reliability was unknown.

The piled raft foundation Is an innovative design concept to reduce both the maximum settlement and differential settlements caused by concentrated building loads and load eccentricities, and also to reduce the bending moments of the raft. The main concern given in the design of piled raft foundations is proper judgments both of relative proportions of loads carried by the raft and piles, and of the effect of the pile support on the maximum and differential settlements In the present study, the piled raft foundation used in the foundation system of Richensia Building at Youido, Seoul is introduced and is carried out analyzing the results of field tests such as plate load tests, large plate load test, pile load test, and piled raft load test.

Recently, the probability of collision accident between vehicles or vessels and infrastructures are increasing at alarming rate. Particularly, collision impact load can be detrimental to sub-structures such as piers and columns. The damaged pier from an impact load of a vehicle or a vessel can lead to member damages, which make the member more vulnerable to impact load due to other accidents which. In extreme case, may cause structural collapse. Therefore, in this study, the vehicle impact load on concrete compression member was considered to assess the quantitative design resistance capacity to improve, the existing design method and to setup the new damage assessment method. The case study was carried out using the LS-DYNA, an explicit finite element analysis program. The parameters for the case study were cross-section variation of pier, impact load angle, permanent axial load and axial load ratio, concrete strength, longitudinal and lateral rebar ratios, and slenderness ratio. Using the analysis results, the performance based resistance capacity evaluation method for impact load using satisfaction curve was developed using Bayesian probabilistic method, which can be applied to reinforced concrete column design for impact loads.
This study has analysed the ultimate loads acting on a wind turbine which is operating in a high turbulent flow condition because the ultimate loads are critical factors on the safe design of wind turbine. Since wind flow on the most parts of Korean mountainous are strongly influenced by complex configurations of the topography, turbulence intensity on somewhere is so stronger than an international design standard. For this reason, the characteristics of turbulent wind data collected from actual sites were analyzed and used for the ultimate load evaluation of the wind turbine. With the 270 design load cases on the international standards, the differences of ultimate loads on the wind turbine operating in the standard or high turbulent wind condition are calculated and compared for the an enhanced knowledge of the safe design basis. As are result, it is revealed the specific ultimate loads are strongly affected by the high turbulent wind conditions, thus the characteristics of turbulent flow must be considered during the design of wind turbine.

The LC filter design procedure of the inverter output filter is described. The transfer function of the filter output voltage to the load current is described with the capacitor value and the system time constant considering the system controller. By using the closed form of the relation between the filter capacitor value and the system time constant, the capacitor value can be calculated with the given system time constant and vice versa. It is more practical for the implementation of power and control circuit of inverter. And as the effect of the load current to the voltage distortion can be calculated from the closed form, it is possible to analyze the system how much the voltage waveform is distorted in case of the nonlinear load. All the proposed design procedure is verified with the simulation and experimental results.

Generally main girders and steel piers of temporary bridges form the steel rahmen structure. In this study, the rational stability design procedure for main members of temporary bridges is presented using 3D system buckling analysis and second-order elastic analysis. 2 types of temporary bridges, which are possible to be designed and fabricated in reality, are chosen and the buckling design for them is performed considering load combinations of dead and live loads, thermal load, and wind load. Effective buckling length of steel piers, effects of live loads on effective length of main members, transition of ~id buckling modes, and effects of second-order analysis are investigated through case study of 2 temporary bridges.
