  • Even though 3D press die design gains more attention everyday in Korea, there are shortages of infrastructure and proper environments for it. What is most needed is human resources development and 3D die design standardization, on which the pace of 3D die design adoption depends. This study focuses on 3D press die design process by looking into an instance in which 3D die design system had been used to sell dies to a company "S" in Japan.

Design Principles for Learning Environment based on STEAM Education

  • In this study, a learning environment based on STEAM theory was proposed to support and improve learners' activities and achievements for convergent design education. The learning environment design influence STEAM education with intentional design and schedule coordination, schools can create informal environments that are crucial to STEAM education. The physical surroundings of the learning space should be applied to teaching methods and learning activity, especially for STEAM-based education, physical space conditions should support the learner's design thinking and process. Furthermore, STEAM-based education environment should support a vast array of experiences that allow students to learn the context around ideas and skills. For spaces for learning environment based on STEAM, common design principles should be considered such as technology integration, safety and security, transparency, multipurpose space, and outdoor learning. Therefore, the learning environment based on STEAM needs flexible and mobile, connected, integrated, organized, flipped, and team-focused surroundings to support the learners understand, participate, cooperate, and accomplish the design process.

  • The dynamic nature of the A/E/C industry, rapidly changing global market environments, and lowest cost competitive bidding make it difficult to survive in global design markets. To understand the global design markets, a case study has been undertaken. The top 150 global design firms represented in the ENR (Engineering News Record) from 1995 to 2003 are classified into three groups for the case study. First group is the firms which advanced in rank from 1995. Second group is the firms which maintained its rank from 1994 until 2003. Third group is the firms which went down in rank from 1995 until 2003. However, finding key factors and changing business strategies of successful top design firms are the fundamental goals in this paper. After examinations of case studies, this paper concludes and suggests that professionalization, M&A strategies, patrons of the government, and academic support are needed to be successful in the global design & engineering industry.

  • Design of drawing dies used in real industrial environments. It was designed by CAD software in many small & medium companies, but many products require various types, and sizes. Therefore, many companies are required to reduce process time and design mistakes. In this paper, for the automatic design of drawing dies, Design process considered that easy to team and use. which are used with Visual LISP/DCL language in a commercial CAD package, AutoCAD. It has adopted GUI in design system, and has applied DCL language. The system is based on the knowledge base system which is involved a lot of expert's know-how We have built database of design type and detail sizes. The automatic design system requires basic product type and sizes. Then the system accesses to the database and find out sizes by comparing with input parameters and generate drawing dies file.

  • Advantages of switched reluctance motor(SRM) include a simple structure, the ability of operation in hash environments and under partial hardware failures, and a wide speed range. However design of SRM for industrial applications is very difficult because motor's inherent none-linearity and sensitivity of design parameter. In this paper, an optimal method for determining design parameters of a switched reluctance motor is researched. The dominant design parameters are stator and rotor pole arc and switching on and off angle. The parameters affecting performance are examined and selected using evolutionary computations and commercial CAD Program. The proposed design process is very fast. reliable and easy to access. The simulated design method proposed is compared with conventional procedure.

  • Design of drawing dies was used In real industrial environments. It was designed by CAD software in many small & medium companies, but many products require various types, and sizes.   • It is the important situation that the fashion industry is faced to enormous changes in the nation and worldwide market. To cope with this situations, it is necessary to clarify that the concept of fashion design and its process. This study was conducted as followings : 1. Fashion design is the process of problem solving including the steps of understanding problem, visualizing the image of a design concept. 2. The systematic and intuitive approach is harmonized to solve the process of fashion design. 3. The step of understanding problem is consist of the analysis of environments, the explanation of problem, the determination of purposes, the definition of problem and the visualizing the image of a design concept. 4. In the step of the visualizing the image of a design concept, the intuitive approaches can be clarifies as the importance of start, the step by step process, the determination of a design concept, the fixations of an image, the image realization through real objects, the diminution a difference between a concept and a visualizing the image and the necessity of exercises.

디자인특성을 고려한 해양건축개념의 설정에 관한연구 (On the Concept of Oceanic Architecture With Design Characteristics)

  • Oceanic architecture means architectural space created by directly or indirectly using the features of the ocean in the design. A range of marine structure for residential, leisure, cultural, and industrial uses has been and will be created by adopting these features in spatial composition, program, function, and form. This is a clearly distinct category of architecture which can produce unique and creative environments for man's living. Here this kind of architecture is called oceanic architecture. Nowadays the demand for ocean space is increasing and in the near future the law of oceanic architecture will be established by the government. Even with the present trend in design practice, few academic researches on the new architecture have been executed from an architectural design viewpoint. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the design aspects of oceanic architecture. In this paper firstly the design characteristics and contents of oceanic architecture are dealt. And then the concept architecture is defined on the basis of design characteristics.

동.서양인의 주거공간 행태에 따른 LED조명환경 (A Study on LED Lighting Environment of Asians and Westerners by Behaviors in Residential Space)

  • This study describes the difference of lighting directing techniques of between asian and westerner in the residential space, and presents the LED lighting environment according to the residents' behaviors. This study was conducted with Koreans, European and North Americans, and the space range was limited to the living room where the various activities occur. The data of the desired LED lighting environment is drawn through lighting technique, illumination color temperature and illuminance variation of LED in living room, and the detailed study results are as follows ; First, the lighting in living space should be made with considering the various behaviors because the expected level according to consideration or not of behavior makes much difference. Second, the comfortably feeling LED lighting environments that are lighting technique, illumination color temperature and illuminance variation, are different between Koreans and North Americans, but Koreans and European feel comfortable under the similar LED lighting environments. Third, the data for the comfortable LED lighting environments is established according to the various residents' behaviors, which are watching TV, reading, studying, relaxing, chatting, entertaining guests. And then, the established LED lighting environments are analyzed with characteristic of behavior and classified according to lighting technique, illumination color temperature and illuminance variation for understanding their characteristic Few studies have been conducted to find out difference of the comfortably feeling LED lighting environment between asians and westerners. Therefore, in this study, it has a great significance to present the difference of the LED lighting environments that asians and westerners feel comfortable in living space, and to draw the characteristic of the expected lighting environment according to residents' behaviors.

행위기반 제어 설계 및 2족 축구 로봇에의 적용 (A Design for a Behavior-based Controller and Its Application to Biped Robot Soccer)

  • 전통적인 모델 기반 제어 방법은 로봇의 센서계로부터 유추한 현 상황과 로봇이 가지고 있는 주변 환경에 대한 모델을 비교하고 이를 토대로 정교한 경로 계획에 따라 로봇을 구동하는 방식이다. 이러한 방식은 로봇의 주변 환경이 바뀌거나 동적으로 변화하는 경우에는 적용하기 어렵기 때문에 미리 알려져 있고 고정되어 있는 환경이 아니면 로봇이 성능을 발휘하기가 어렵다. 이에 반하여 행위기반 제어는 로봇이 처해있는 주변 환경에 대한 모델이나 경로 계획에 의존하지 않고 로봇의 특정한 센서 출력에 대하여 특정한 행위를 즉각적으로 수행하도록 구성되어 있어서 비구조적인 환경이나 동적으로 변화하는 환경에서 로봇에 적용하기가 좋다. 본 논문에서는 로봇이 처한 상황에 따라서 행위를 달리하는 상황의존형 행위기반 제어 구조를 제안하고 이를 1:1 2족 축구 로봇에 적용하여 그 효용성을 보인다.
