  • This paper compares two types of direct torque controllers for permanent magnet synchronous motors(PMSMs). These controllers both use a single-chip FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) but have differing hardware configurations. One of the controllers was constructed by programming a soft-core CPU and hardware logic circuits written in VHDL(Very high speed IC Hardware Description Language), while the other was constructed of only hardware logic circuits. The characteristics of these two controllers were compared in this paper. The results show the controller constructed of only hardware logic circuits was able to shorten the control period and it was able to suppress the low torque ripple.

  • These days, computing systems need to be intelligent for satisfying general users' ambiguous requests. In order to make a system intelligent, several methods of managing knowledge have been proposed. Especially, in ubiquitous computing environment, where various computing objects are working together for achieving the given goal, ontology can be the best solutionfor knowledge management. In this paper, we proposed a novel reasoner processing ontology-based knowledge which is expressed in EOL. As this EOL reasoner uses less computing resource, it can be easily adapted to various computing objects in ubiquitous computing environment providing easy usability of knowledge.

  • In this paper, we describe an ontology-based context aware model that collects context information from USN sensor and CCTV image and reasons about context in order to development an integrated security control system in the industrial environments. The context model represents autonomous and heterogeneous data as ontologies and recognizes the context through DL(description logic) inference in the smart computing environment. We expect that the integrated security control system can automatically detects the risk in the industrial field and reduces the safety and security incidents by applying this context model to the system.

  • This study proposes a 'Bibliographic Universe Relationship Vocabulary'(burv) using the RDF/OWL Object Property under the SPO predicate logic according to the relationship type among all entities of bibliographic universe and implemented a 'relationship ontology system' to establish a new cataloging business domain called 'Relationship Description Cataloging' based on the ontology.

  • The Call Processing Language (CPL, in short), recommended in RFC 2824 of IETF, is a service description language for the Internet Telephony. The CPL allows users to define their own services, which dramatically improves the choice and flexibility of the users. The syntax of the CPL is strictly defined by DTD (Document Type Definition). However, compliance with the DTD is not a sufficient condition for correctness of a CPL script. There are enough rooms for non-expert users to make semantical mistakes in the service logic, which could lead to serious system down. In this paper, we present six classes of semantic warnings for the CPL service description: MF, IS, CR, AS, US, OS. For each class, we give the definition and its effects with an example script. These warnings are not necessarily errors. However, these warnings will help users to find ambiguity, redundancy and inconsistency in their own service description.

  • In this paper, a synthesis tool using matrix operations for designing multi-level Reed Muller circuits is described which has been named as MRM (Multi-level Reed Muller Minimizer). The synthesis method which uses matrix operations has advantages in effectively minimizing chip area, delay optimization and fault detection capability. However, it uses only truth-table type maps for inputs, synthesizing only small circuits. To overcome the weakness, our method accepts two-level description of a logic function. Since the number of cubes in the two-level description is small, the input matrix becomes small and large circuits can be synthesized. To convert two-level representations into multi-level ones, different input patterns are extracted to make a map which can be fed to the matrix operation procedure. Experimental results show better performance than previous methods. The matrix operation method presented in this paper is new to the society of Reed Muller circuits synthesis and provides solid mathematical foundations.

State CHDL are used for design of PLA based finite state machine, also the symbolic cover minimization algorithms are based upon single cube containment and distance 1 merging algorithms. The procedure for state machine synthesizer has been applied to practical example, including traffic light controller by using Boulder Optimal Logic Design System.

  • The SVDD (support vector data description) is one of the most well-known one-class support vector learning methods, in which one tries the strategy of utilizing balls defined on the feature space in order to distinguish a set of normal data from all other possible abnormal objects. Recently, with the objective of generalizing the SVDD which treats all training data with equal importance, the so-called D-SVDD (density-induced support vector data description) was proposed incorporating the idea that the data in a higher density region are more significant than those in a lower density region. In this paper, we consider the problem of further improving the D-SVDD toward the use of a partial reference set for testing, and propose an LMI (linear matrix inequality)-based optimization approach to solve the improved version of the D-SVDD problems. Our approach utilizes a new class of density-induced distance measures based on the RSDE (reduced set density estimator) along with the LMI-based mathematical formulation in the form of the SDP (semi-definite programming) problems, which can be efficiently solved by interior point methods. The validity of the proposed approach is illustrated via numerical experiments using real data sets.

  • Performing arts are composite art forms made through the collective participation of people who are responsible for a variety of roles with a multidimensional context. This study presents an analysis of the context to be expressed in the process of the arrangement and description of records of performing arts, with a focus on the relationship between performance work and performance planning, the relationship between performance planning and individual performance, the relationship between performance and people who participated in the performance, relationship between records and records, and the relationship between performance and records. With this, this study proposes a logical hierarchical structure that is required to express the context of the inner relationship of performing arts archives. It also suggests a model of sequential organization to describe the inner logic of the relationship between records and records.
