  • The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a competency tool for new nurses and to pilot-test it with new nurses. A Delphi survey was conducted to develop a competency tool, and a self-evaluation was conducted among new nurses who pilot-tested the finally derived competencies. The Delphi survey panel consisted of 18 people, including adjunct professors at the College of Nursing, nursing managers, and nurses with master's degrees. The Delphi survey asked about the validity of the competencies constructed in two rounds. After analyzing the Delphi results with mean, standard deviation, content validity ratio, degrees of convergence, and degrees of consensus, 12 core competencies and 36 enabling competencies were finally derived. The competencies consisted of clinical judgment and management (nine items), task competence (four items), patient orientation (five items), moral value orientation (three items), cooperation (two items), supply management (two items), professional development (three items), confidence (one item), self-control (two items), flexibility (two items), influence (one item), and nurturing others (two items). The finally derived competencies were pilot-tested with 229 new nurses who had worked for 2-12 months. The self-evaluation scores of new nurses were distributed differently according to their working period. In this study, the competencies required for new nurses were identified and the corresponding enabling competencies were identified. In the future, it is expected that a competency-based education program will be prepared based on these findings, and furthermore, it will be possible to provide high-quality medical and nursing services that meet patients' needs by improving the competency of new nurses and lowering the turnover rate.

  • Defining a competent doctor is important for educating and training doctors. However, competency frameworks have rarely been validated during the process of their development in Korea. The purpose of this study was to validate the patient-centered doctor's competency framework, which had been developed by our expert working group (EWG). Two rounds of Delphi questionnaire surveys were conducted among a panel of experts on medicine and medical education. The panel members were provided with six core competencies, 17 sub-competencies, and 53 enabling competencies, and were asked to rate the importance of these competencies on a 5-point Likert scale. Between April and July 2021, a total of 28 experts completed both rounds. The data of the Delphi study were analyzed for the mean, standard deviation, median, inter-rater agreement (IRA), and content validity ratio (CVR). A CVR >0.36 and IRA ≥0.75 were deemed to indicate validity and agreement. This study found that five enabling competencies were not valid, and agreement was not reached for three sub-competencies and two enabling competencies. In consideration of CVR and the individual opinions of panel members at each session, the final competencies were extracted through consensus meetings of the EWG. The competencies were modified into six core competencies, 16 sub-competencies, and 47 enabling competencies. This study is meaningful in that it proposes patient-centered doctor's competencies enabling the development of residents' milestone competencies, an assessment system, and educational programs.

  • Artificial ground greening has been developed gradually in accordance with increasing demands of out-door space in Apartment complexes. Nowadays other social demand, environmental load abatement, needs qualitative growth of artificial ground greening as well as quantitative growth. So the objects of this study would be seizing and analyzing changeable items in artificial ground greening in the future, and show drafting materials for the development of spheres in connected with artificial ground greening. For this study, Delphi method was applied. First, three groups of panel, 48 people, were selected. Second, set up items of changes possible in the future from the first questionnaire and additional inquiry. Third, made up the second questionnaire of change possible in the future with Likert summated scale, and finally one way - ANOVA executed; independent variables were items of changes, and dependent variables were three groups of panel. To conclude, although limits of this study, we could glance over general flows and changes in artificial ground greening, and discover items which are hardly changeable and necessary to change in present condition of artificial ground greening.

  • Purpose: There has been a growing recognition that person-centered care enhances the quality of life of nursing home residents with dementia. This study was conducted to develop a person-centered dementia care online education program for direct care staff in long-term care facilities. Methods: Delphi method with expert group was used to validate contents. We developed 61 draft items based on literature review. Twenty experts participated in consecutive three round surveys including 5-point Likert scale questions and open-ended questions. Based on experts' opinions, the content validity ratio for content validity and the coefficient of variation for stability were calculated. Results: Three-round Delphi surveys and additional feedback from the expert panel established a consensus of core contents: 1) dementia (7 categories), 2) person-centered care (6 categories), 3) communication (8 categories), and 4) behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (6 categories). Specific sub-categories in each category were differentiated according to the job qualifications (65 sub-categories for registered nurses, 64 sub-categories for nursing aids, and 41 sub-categories for personal care workers). Conclusion: This delphi study identified person-centered dementia education curricula, in which the person-centered approach should be a key policy priority in Korean long-term care system. Now it is urgently needed to develop education programs utilizing online platforms that enable efficient and continuous learning for long-term care staff, which can contribute to behavior changes in the person-centered dementia care approach and improvement of care quality in long-term care facilities.

Methods: The expert panel of this study consisted of 15 faculty members from the department of early childhood education or children's studies at 12 universities and was put together in order to conduct a Delphi survey. Results: As a result of the study, first, a total of 16 sub-goals were developed in order to target infants and young children. Second, the 16 sub-goals were then ranked according to their importance and urgency, and the most important goal were 'the improvement of mental health and prevention of drug abuse (K-SDG 3-2)'. And 'the elimination of violence and discrimination against girls (K-SDG 5-1, 5-2)', 'the safe and inclusive learning environment (K-SDG 4-8)' and 'end of abuse, trafficking, exploitation and all forms of violence against children (K-SDG 16-2)' were the next important and urgent goals. These priority objectives reflect the inviolable rights that infants and young children in Korea should be guaranteed by default. Conclusion/Implications: This study provided a basis for its effective implementation by identifying goals and priorities for infants and young children in comprehensive and interdependent K-SDGs.

In order to achieve the goal, the researchers scrutinized related documents and precedent studies, initiated the draft for evaluation conformity to operate courses and secured validity for evaluation conformity initiated through Delphi Method survey. To secure validity for evaluation conformity, the researchers conducted two Delphi Method surveys of an expert panel of 22 professionals from relevant fields including officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, researchers from Korea Transportation Safety Authority, instructors from approved training organizations and officials from industries. Through the surveys, the researchers determined 4 evaluation areas, 13 evaluation items and 52 evaluation indexes as the evaluation conformity to operate courses for aircraft maintenance mechanics. On top of that, the researchers established evaluation system in the courses for aviation professionals (aircraft maintenance mechanics), and suggested a follow-up studies regarding managing the quality of education.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to present the learning items of indirect practice as an alternative means of ambulance riding practice. Methods: Twelve on-site professionals participated in testing the effectiveness of learning items of utility value in indirect experience practice among the recommended learning objectives of ambulance ride practice using the modified Delphi technique. To validate the learning objectives, the Delphi technique was used to check content validity, and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) analysis was used to analyze the weighting value. Results: As the learning goal of indirect experience practice replaced the ambulance riding practice, four items were derived in consideration of practicality. These items were consistent with the Delphi panel's consistency index, convergence, and agreement. The first learning item to consider was 'Prevention of infection and risk of infection.' Conclusion: The results of this study are meaningful in that they propose the learning items that can achieve the minimum educational goal through indirect experience practice as an alternative means of ambulance training.
