  • The purposes of this study were to classify types of consumption values and to examine 5 types of art appreciation of university students in Seoul. Five types of art appreciation included fine art exhibition(including photographs, architects, calligraphy works), classical and opera performance, traditional Korean music performance, drama and musical performance, dance performance. The sample for this study consisted of 422 university students of five universities in Seoul. The data were collected using the structured questionnaires. The statistical methods used for the analysis were descriptive statistics, chi-square, factor analysis, and cluster analysis. The major findings are as follows. 1. The result of factors for consumption values of students emerged four factors. These were called as 'materialism', 'honor centered', 'family centered', 'hedonism' value. 2. The cluster analysis was conducted based on these four factors. The result showed 3 groups of consumption value which were called as 'material' honor value group', 'family value group', 'hedonic value group'. 3. The consumption value of university students did not significantly differ according to their demographic variables. 4. The behavior of art appreciation of university students significantly differed by their demographic characteristics and consumption value. The material' honor valued group showed the least chances to make decisions on art appreciation for one's own, which reflected that this group appreciate art to satisfy their honors rather than to enjoy art itself. They also showed the most chances to consider the renownedness of the art work or artists among three groups. And they showed the least chances to pay for the tickets for art appreciation, all of those meant that they appreciate arts unvoluntarily in situational condition. The family valued group showed the most chances to pay for the tickets when they appreciate arts. And therefore they were most susceptible for the prices. The hedonic valued group showed the most interests in art. They decided to appreciate art for their own, and they considered the contents and the highness in the level of the art the most when they appreciate art. And they show the most intention of participation in drama/musical performances, which reflect their interests in hedonic values. Based on these results of this study concluded that the consumption values of university students affected their behavior of art appreciation. Thus, university students' behavior on art appreciation can be effectively developed by education according to their consumption values.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the principles of Balletfit and its program structure and to establish Balletfit's effects on body shape change and postural correction. Interview, the most commonly used method of qualitative research, was chosen as the research method. Ten Balletfit class participants, who have attended private lessons twice per week, for three to six months period of time, were selected. These participants were chosen from participants of private lessons instead of group lessons for in-depth insights. The research was limited to a small group of participants and therefore, it is difficult to standardize the result. Also, because this study is based on the opinions of the participants, not by a posture measuring device, the accuracy of the result is limited as well. The followings are the conclusion of this research. First, the participation motive was either internet research or acquaintance's recommendation. Secondly, the effort to change the body shape. • This study analyzed 284 K-pop song and dance cover short-form videos recreated by Chinese influencers uploaded on TikTok, to explore which reform factors of image similarity, language similarity, the extent of audience participation leading, the extent of lyrics or subtitles translated into Chinese, PPL disclosure, the length of video and the reputation of influencer affected Chinese TikTok audiences' reactions - number of "Likes," "Comments" and "Shares." The results showed that only the "reputation of influencer" was significantly affected the number of "Likes" which estimated as a relatively passive response, but the other factors affected the number of "Comments" and "Shares" significantly which estimated as more active responses. The more an influencer is perceived as not similar to the singer in terms of image the more comments were posted. And the videos expressed in Korean archived more comments and shares than those lyrics or subtitles translated into Chinese. This study is meaningful in that it confirmed the necessity of influencers in the globe diffusion of K-pop, by specifically analyzing the audience's reactions according to the characteristics of UCCs created by local influencers using short-form video platforms.

  • There is a large body of literature that studies serious leisure participants in a wide range of activities. By comparison, casual leisure has received scant attention, bearing few empirical studies. And serious leisure is often cast in an superior role in comparison with casual leisure for optimally healthy or beneficial leisure. The purpose of this study is to investigate the psychological functioning of 'casual leisure-serious leisure'. Especially, we pay more attention to reveal the positive functioning of casual leisure. It draws findings from the data of 291 university students. The results are as follows. First, in comparison with 'casual leisure group', 'serious leisure group' was showed a higher significant increase in leisure related functioning(leisure satisfaction and leisure benefits such as physical health, relationship and self-controlibility). However, There is no significant inter-group differences in 'self-life functioning variables(positive·negative self-esteem, happiness, quality of life)'. It implies even though serious leisure has more relation to positive leisure experiences, people maintain and enhance their self-esteem and experience satisfaction and happiness of their entire lives through casual leisure participation as much as serious leisure.

  • This study estimated the causal relationship among leisure identity salience (LIS), leisure constraints negotiation (LCN), and intentions to participate in leisure activity (IPLA). For this, we estimated structural equation models controlled by leisure constraints, and we used data collected from 296 college students residing in Seoul and Kyoung-gi providence. The following was obtained. First, for both groups with high and low levels of leisure constraints, LIS positively caused LCN, and this became more evident for the group with high level of leisure constraint. Second, for the group with low level of leisure constraints, LIS positively and directly caused IPLA, whereas this causal relationship could not observed from the group with high level of leisure constraints. Nevertheless, it indirectly and positively caused IPLA though LCN for the same group. This implies that the mediative role of LCN became more important as the level of leisure constraints became more restrictive. Further, we separately showed that the role of LIS was important in the process of LCN.

  • This study of the Wholeness Program relevant to dementia behavior and verification of buffering effects. For the purpose of this, among those who were attending Day Care Centers belonging to Seniors Welfare Center of M1 and M2 located in Seoul. Among those who met all these requirements, 40 senior citizens were finally selected. After carrying out a preliminary test to the selected subjects, 20 elderly of Seniors Welfare Center of M1 were randomly placed as an experimental group, while other 20 people of Seniors Welfare Center of M2, as a control group. The Wholeness Program relevant to dementia behavior was carried out from March 14 to May 30 of 2016, for 12 weeks, twice a week. As for the measurement tool, this study depended on the Korean version of Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE-K), the Korean version of Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI) and the Korean version of Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-K). While the elderly were participating in the Wholeness Program relevant to dementia behavior, they were measured two times in total, before and after the participation in dementia behavior. Based on SPSS-PC (version 21.0), firstly, independent t-test was carried out to understand the homogeneity between the experimental group and the control group. Secondly, matched-pair t-test was carried out between preliminary test and post-test to inquire into the effects of MMSE-K, K-MBI and GDS-K. Thirdly, ANOVA was conducted to confirm the variation (change amount) between preliminary test and post-test. According to the survey results, the Wholeness Program relevant to dementia behavior of the elderly shows overall effects in all spheres of changes of cognitive ability (MMSE-K), changes of physical capacity (K-MBI) and changes of depression level (GDS-K).

  • In this study, changes and emotions that result from doing yoga and the influence of yoga on daily lives were investigated by using causal network. This information was gathered from interviews and outlined in a diagram form. By checking the daily participation records of 77 participants who took a yoga class as part of the cultural studies curriculum at H University, general factors related to change were extracted and then 7 participants were chosen for in-depth interviews. In the interviews, the changes experienced from doing yoga and the emotions caused by the change and the influence this change had on daily lives were documented and the collected results were displayed in a diagram using causal network according to the flow of questionnaire. As a result, the changes experienced through doing yoga were divided in 4 categories: physical function, emotional, cognitive and physiological changes. Each change and emotion caused by the change were shown to have an influence on daily lives. Through schematized causal network for each change, the changes and emotions which the participants experienced and the influence of yoga on daily lives could be checked. Based on the study results, the effect of yoga, the need for various approaches to examine the effect exercise has on emotions and the applicability of causal network that can be employed as a creative and effective quantitative data analysis method were discussed.
