  • The purpose of this study is to examine the job satisfaction and the job stress of British child care teachers. Respondents, including childminders, were 137 British child care teachers who worked in nursery school, day nursery, creche, and playgroup. In the survey on the job satisfaction of British child care teachers, they were asked to answer two items. In the survey on their job stress level, they were required to rate their job-related stress levels on a 5 point scale of 'Job Stress scale' by Davis et al(2003). The results indicated: firstly, the British child care teachers are much satisfied with their job and have the low level of job stress. Secondly, their job satisfaction depends on who runs the child care facilities, what position they have in the centers, how long they work for child care, what qualifications they have. The levels of their job stress depend significantly on their present position in the centers. Thirdly, the job satisfaction of British child care teachers is explained about 27%, is related to their performing of daily routine, their age, the management of child care centers and qualifications of the teachers.

  • Baicalein (BA), a plant-derived active flavonoid present in the root of Scutellaria baicalensis, has been widely used for the treatment of stress-related neuropsychiatric disorders including depression. Previous studies have demonstrated that repeated restraint stress disrupts the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, resulting in depression. The behavioral and neurochemical basis of the BA effect on depression remain unclear. The present study used the forced swimming test (FST) and changes in brain neurotransmitter levels to confirm the impact of BA on repeated restraint stress-induced behavioral and neurochemical changes in rats. Male rats received 10, 20, or 40 mg/kg BA (i.p.) 30 min prior to daily exposure to repeated restraint stress (2 h/day) for 14 days. Activation of the HPA axis in response to repeated restraint stress was confirmed by measuring serum corticosterone levels and the expression of corticotrophin-releasing factor in the hypothalamus. Daily BA administration significantly decreased the duration of immobility in the FST, increased sucrose consumption, and restored the stress-related decreases in dopamine concentrations in the hippocampus to near normal levels. BA significantly inhibited the stress-induced decrease in neuronal tyrosine hydroxylase immunoreactivity in the ventral tegmental area and the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) mRNA in the hippocampus. Taken together, these findings indicate that administration of BA prior to the repeated restraint stress significantly improves helpless behaviors and depressive symptoms, possibly by preventing the decrease in dopamine and BDNF expression. Thus, BA may be a useful agent for the treatment or alleviation of the complex symptoms associated with depression.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors giving effects to juvenile's suicide thinking and search for the method to protect juveniles from the risk factors of suicide thinking and reinforce protective factors. For this purpose, juvenile's depression and stress degree were analyzed as the factors giving effects to juvenile's suicide thinking and the effect of social support, which was assumed as a protective factor from suicide thinking, was verified. Analysis results are as follows. First, juvenile's daily stress showed significant deference from suicide thinking. There was a significant positive correlation between juvenile's daily life stress and suicide thinking. Therefore, it was found that the juveniles who suffer from stress have a lot of suicide thinking. Second, juvenile's depression gave a significant effect to suicide thinking. There was a significant positive correlation between juvenile's depression and suicide thinking. it was proved that the juveniles who suffer from depression have a lot of suicide thinking. Third, There was a significant negative correlation between social support and suicide thinking. The more the juveniles get social support, the less they have suicide thinking. The study results above reveal that juvenile's suicide shall be approached from the preventive aspect, for preventing juvenile's suicide, social support which mitigates suicide thinking factors is very important. Therefore this study proposed social attention on the juvenile's suicide thinking, and formation social support system that reinforce social support. Moreover, for preventing the factors reinforcing suicide thinking, preventive approach, alternative program such as case management and group program, and integrated management inined with juvenile related organizations and specialists are required. At the same time school environment shall be improved and changed.

  • This study analyzed the factors influencing the satisfaction of school students in Covid-19. The subjects of the study were surveyed in all 5th-6th grade of elementary school students, 1st-3rd grade of middle school, and 1st and 2nd grade of high school students in G metropolitan city. A total of 13,672 students participated in the survey, of which 13,613 were used for final data analysis. A hierarchical regression analysis of factors affecting students' life satisfaction showed that 22.2% of school life factors, 4.7% of home life factors, and 10.7% of daily stressors. The most influential factor in Covid-19 was home life satisfaction. Next was appearance stress for elementary school students and academic stress for middle and high school students. This can be seen as a result of Covid-19, which increased non-face-to-face classes and increased time for students to spend at home, which led to a greater impact on students' satisfaction in life. Nevertheless, middle and high school students can still see that academic stress has a significant impact on life satisfaction. Through this, it is necessary to support students to facilitate relationships, communication, studies, and leisure at home in the context of Corona 19. Especially, various educational policies must be accompanied so that the educational gap due to non-face-to-face classes does not deepen depending on the family environment.

  • This study was undertaken to assess the effect of sound stress on humoral and cellular immune responses to thymus-dependent and independent antigens in mice. After mice were exposed to 4 hr daily sound stessors(83㏈) for 4 days before or after immunization, the primary and / or secondary immune response to sheep red blood cells(SRBC), polyvinylpyrroridone(PVP) or picry1 chloride(TNCB) were assayed. When mice were exposed to sound stressor before or after immunization, delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction and contact sensitivity to TNCB was remarkably depressed compared with those of the unstressed control mice. However, the primary and secondary hemagglutinin response of the stresed mice to SRBC showed a pronounced increase compared with that of the unstressed mice, In contrast to antibody response to SRBC, the primary antibody response of the stressed mic to PVP was almost not detected. surprisingly, the secondary antibody response to PVP of the mice receiving the secondary sound stress was markedly increased when the immune-depressed mice received the secondary immunization with PVP at 46 days after the primary immunization. The susceptibility of mice to intraven-oulsy infected Candida albicans was not changed by the sound stress.
