This paper presents a Current Distribution Control design for Paralleled Positive Output Elementary Super Lift Luo Converters (PPOESLLCs) operated in Continuous Conduction Mode using a Sliding Mode Controller (SMC). Manipulating the higher current requirement of the load through the paralleling of POESLLCs, results in a current inequality. This is mainly due to dissimilarities in the power semiconductor switches and circuit components used in POESLLCs, which may lead to converter failures. In order to balance the proper load current sharing and the load voltage regulation of PPOESLLCs, a SMC is developed. The SMC is designed for the inherently variable-structured of POESLLCs by using the state-space average based model. The static and dynamic performance of the developed controller with PPOESLLCs is validated for its robustness to perform over a wide range of operating conditions through both a laboratory prototype and MatLab/Simulink models, which are compared with a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller. Theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the developed SMC along with the complete design procedure.
Equal rating DC-DC converter modules can be connected in series at the input for circuits requiring higher input voltages and in parallel at the output for circuits requiring higher output currents. Since the converter modules may not be practically identical, closed loop control has to ensure that each module equally shares the total input voltage and the load current. A control scheme consisting of a common output voltage loop, individual inner current loops and individual input voltage loops have been designed in this work to achieve input voltage and load current sharing as well as load voltage regulation under supply and load disturbances. The output voltage loop provides the basic reference for the inner current loops, which are also modified by the respective input voltage loops. The average of the converter input voltages, which is dynamically varying, is chosen as the reference for input voltage loops. This choice of reference eliminates interaction among different control loops. Type II compensators and Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLCs) are designed and compared through MATLAB based simulation and FLC is found to be satisfactory. Hence TMS320F2407A DSP based FLC is implemented and the results are presented which prove the superiority of the FLC developed for this research.
This paper describes two novel current fed high frequency resonant inverter can be used as the power supp]y for wax-sealing. This two topology can be obtained higher output frequency than switching frequency by composing modified unit inverter based on conventional half-bridge serial resonant inverter in parallel with input power source. also, By using time-sharing gate control method, this proposed inverter can not only realize the output control of dependence irrespective of the switching frequency using phase-shift but also reduce switching loss because it has ZVS function. Simulation results through the Pspice have demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed inverter. This proposed inverter will be able to be practically used as a power supply in various fields as induction heating applications, DC-DC converter etc.
In this paper a modular high performance MV-to-LV rectifier based on a cascaded H-bridge rectifier is presented. The proposed rectifier can directly connect to the medium voltage levels and provide a low-voltage and highly-stable DC interface with the consumer applications. The input stage eliminates the necessity for heavy and bulky step-down transformers. It corrects the input power factor and maintains the voltage balance among the individual DC buses. The second stage includes the high frequency parallel-output DC/DC converters which prepares the galvanic isolation, regulates the output voltage, and attenuates the low frequency voltage ripple ($2f_{line}$) generated by the first stage. The parallel-output converters can work in interleaving mode and the active load-current sharing technique is utilized to balance the load power among them. The detailed analysis for modeling and control of the proposed structure is presented. The validity and performance of the proposed topology is verified by simulation and experimental results.
In the microgrid, inverters for energy storage system are generally constructed in a parallel structure because of capacity expandability, convenience of system maintenance, and reliability improvement. Parallel inverters are required to provide stable voltage to the critical load in PCC and to accurately share the current between each inverter. Furthermore, when islanding occurs, the inverters should change its operating mode from grid-connected mode to stand-alone mode. However, during clearing time and control mode change, the conventional control method has a negative impact on the critical load, that is, severe fluctuating voltage. In this study, a parallel operation control method is proposed. This method provides seamless mode transfer for the entire transition period, including clearing time and control mode change, and has accurate current sharing between each inverter. The proposed control method is validated through simulation and experiment.
This paper proposes a high frequency resonant inverter consisting of equivalent half bridge model using MOSFET. In this paper time-sharing control method is applied. as a result the output frequency is two times as high as switching frequency of device, and average current of device is incresed because of decreasing switching loss.
The parallel operation system of multiple UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) is used to increase power capacity of the system or to secure higher reliability at critical loads. In the parallel operation of the two UPSs, the load sharing control to maintain the current balance between them is a matter of consequence. In this paper, a highly precise load sharing controller is proposed and implemented for the parallel operation system of two UPSs. After that, a good performance of the proposed method is verified by simulation in the parallel operation system with two UPSs.
In this paper, a low cost bridgeless interleaved power factor correction topology for electric vehicle charger application is proposed. With the proposed topology the number of switches, inductors, current sensors and associated circuits can be reduced, thereby reducing the cost of the system as compared to the conventional bridgeless PFC circuit. The reduced input current ripple by the proposed interleaved topology makes it suitable for high power applications such as electric vehicle chargers since it can reduce the size of the inductor core and the Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) problem. In the proposed topology only one current sensor is required. All the boost inductor currents can be reconstructed by sampling the output current and used to control the input current. Therefore the typical problem caused by the unequal current gain of each current sensor inherently does not exist in the proposed topology. In addition the current sharing between converters can be achieved more accurately and the high frequency distortion is decreased. The performance of the proposed converter is verified by the experimental results with a prototype of 6.6kW bridgeless interleaved PFC circuit.
This paper presents a novel control strategy for selective compensation of power quality (PQ) problems, depending upon the limited rating of voltage source inverters (VSIs), through a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) in a three-phase four-wire distribution system. The UPQC is realized by the integration of series and shunt active power filters (APFs) sharing a common dc bus capacitor. The shunt APF is realized using a three-phase, four-leg voltage source inverter (VSI), while a three-leg VSI is employed for the series APF of the three-phase four-wire UPQC. The proposed control scheme for the shunt APF, decomposes the load current into harmonic components generated by consumer and distorted utility. In addition to this, the positive and negative sequence fundamental frequency active components, the reactive components and harmonic components of load currents are decomposed in synchronous reference frame (SRF). The control scheme of the shunt APF performs with priority based schemes, which respects the limited rating of the VSI. For voltage harmonic mitigation, a control scheme based on SRF theory is employed for the series APF of the UPQC. The performance of the proposed control scheme of the UPQC is validated through simulations using MATLAB software with its Simulink and Power System Block set toolboxes.
The current paper presents a novel control strategy of a three-phase, four-wire Unified Power Quality (UPQC) to improve power quality. The UPQC is realized by the integration of series and shunt active power filters (APF) sharing a common dc bus capacitor. The realization of shunt APF is carried out using a three-phase, four-leg Voltage Source Inverter (VSI), and the series APF is realized using a three-phase, three-leg VSI. To extract the fundamental source voltages as reference signals for series APF, a zero-crossing detector and sample-and-hold circuits are used. For the control of shunt APF, a simple scheme based on the real component of fundamental load current (I $Cos{\Phi}$) with reduced numbers of current sensors is applied. The performance of the applied control algorithm is evaluated in terms of power-factor correction, source neutral current mitigation, load balancing, and mitigation of voltage and current harmonics in a three-phase, four-wire distribution system for different combinations of linear and non-linear loads. The reference signals and sensed signals are used in a hysteresis controller to generate switching signals for shunt and series APFs. In this proposed UPQC control scheme, the current/voltage control is applied to the fundamental supply currents/voltages instead of fast-changing APF currents/voltages, thus reducing the computational delay and the required sensors. MATLAB/Simulink-based simulations that support the functionality of the UPQC are obtained.
