This study had the purpose of presenting a residential environment solution as a desirable educational environment for middle school students to grow soundly and to achieve proper self-realization while providing basic materials to build up a suitable residential environment by comparing and analyzing what relationships exist between different home backgrounds, residential environments and middle school students' social maturity. This research was conducted from Feb. 11, 2008 to Feb. 13, 2008. The subject of this research was 601 students in 3 middle schools located in Gyunggi-do. The data analyzed used the SPSS 11.5 version. The summary of this study's results is as follows. First, in terms of home background, the higher the parents' educational background and social and economic position, the greater the students' social maturity. Second, in terms of home environment, the more spacious the living space, the better the water and sewage system and rest room, the more convenient the air conditioner and kitchen system, the better the lighting, ventilation, soundproofness, insulation, the less the danger in relation to fire, crime, traffic accidents, disaster, the greater the students' social maturity. Third, in terms of the home environment related to the correlation between the residential environment and social maturity, all areas such as housing facilities, housing structural environment and housing safety showed static correlations and proved that the residential environment has an important influence on social maturity. Accordingly, in order to build up an ideal residential environment, we should make efforts to expand and improve better facilities at home considering privacy, lighting, ventilation, soundproofness, heating etc. and remove unsound factors that obstruct students social maturity and build up clean and safe residential environment with good relations with their neighbors.

Purpose: It is the responsibility of public healthcare to respond quickly to infectious disease outbreaks and disasters such as MERS, COVID-19, the Syrian earthquake, and the Miryang Sejong Hospital fire accident. It is very important to secure safe medical facilities and protect lives through emergency medical support and disaster response systems. The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety status of regional medical facilities that play a central role in the event of a disaster. Methods: The target was 41 local public hospitals, including 35 regional medical centers and 6 Red Cross hospitals nationwide. We delivered a questionnaire to 41 medical facilities and collected data from 32 regional public hospitals that received responses. Results: In order to respond to safety accidents, a survey was conducted on infections, falls, patient identification, and incorrect connections for medical accidents, and for in-hospital accidents, a survey was conducted on entrapment, collision, water leaks, falling objects, and crime prevention. For natural disasters, we investigated the response environment for typhoons, floods, and snow damage, and for social disasters, we investigated the response environment for fire, power outages, and radiation damage. Implications: We hope that it will be used as basic data for developing standards and creating hospital facilities and environments that are safe for everyone to respond to various disasters and prevent patient safety accidents in the future.
Recently, with the sudden changes in the security environment, expectations towards the police and fear towards safety are increasing. Thus, the local community police operation, which creates a mutually cooperative relationship between the police and local residents, is coming to the fore as the paradigm of the nationwide police operation. The police operation in Korea has also gone through change, and as part of the local community police operation, Korea has implemented a community police system since 2003. Recently, the system has been going through change in that the operations are centralizing around not only prevention of crime including the safe city program, protection of multicultural families, response to foreign crime, protection of the socially disadvantaged but also life security of the citizens. Along these lines, this study seeks to examine conditions of the three elements of local community police operation - Strategic Oriented Policing (SOP), Neighborhood Oriented Policing (NOP), Problem Oriented Policing (POP) - and policy suggestions accordingly.

This study started with necessity of historical spatial planning skills in U-city planning. Though U-city technology and information are very important, U-city development should be considered on the base of various experience of spatial planning. This study explored spatial planning indexes change in the recent newtown plans. In particular, safety and security were intensively analyzed. In addition, many theories on safe urban space, ubiquitous technology, traditional defensible space, and CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) are compared. The findings are as follows. First, each planning is not integrated and there is lack of network among each planning. Specifically, from the crime prevention perspective, there is only mechanical monitoring such as CCTV without architectural approach. Even though CCTV is social needs, it is necessary to adopt it with architectural environment in order to improve the synergy effect of spatial planning and non-spatial planning.
A study apartment house inhabitants of to, crime prevention effort is done satisfaction analysis and that deduce design plan of CPTED that can overcome safe life space embodiment and criminal fear from crime in Juminin viewpoint through atomize group's interaction by background fantast. Is positive because factor analysis wave and satisfaction index of deduce universe (Total group) 8 factor are presented more than all 0, and quite was expose by level that is worth accommodating. Satisfaction index of The secondary design group (Group1) 8 factor is positive because is presented more than all 0, and mechanical access control, mechanical surveillance is level that is worth accommodating quite, and level that is proper in remainder 6 dimension appear. Can know that 1 The secondary design group(Group2) is expose by level that satisfaction characteristic of 8 factor can be presented more than all 0 and appeared positively, and accommodate quite in all dimensions. Result that analyze Two-way ANOVA satisfaction difference of environment design of group by satisfaction of the primary and the secondary design group is high in 8 all dimensions of CPTED, and satisfaction by appeared satisfaction high in group less than natural access control, 2 years of natural surveillance, and reciprocal action effect that go with group is high satisfaction in 2 years low in The secondary design group more than the primary and the secondary design group of systematic access control and natural access control, and the primary and the secondary design group appeared high in subgroup of 2 remainders. Satisfaction difference by group by crime prevention effort satisfaction of the primary and the secondary design group is high in 8 all dimensions of CPTED, and satisfaction difference by crime prevention effort appeared satisfaction high in 'A prize' group to The secondary design group, and reciprocal action efficiency is high in 'A prize' group in The secondary design group more than the primary and the secondary design group in mechanical access control, systematic access control, natural access control, territoriality reinforcement, and satisfaction of 'Between' and 'Very' group appeared high in the primary and the secondary design group.
In recently, a growing concern for the health of urban residents increased interests in a variety of outdoor activities simply be done in terms of cost and time. They are specially interested in low-impact and safe exercises around residential or working area. Walking is the one of easily doing exercise in daytime or nighttime near residential area. The sidewalks of boulevard near the residential area is the best place for exercise because of easy access and the green space with roadside trees. However, if the nighttime is not guaranteed the proper lighting condition, the possibility of exposure to crime and the threat to pedestrian safety can be increased. Because roadside trees are one of the potential obstacle for lighting condition, supplementary lightings are important to mitigate interruption for safety. To meet such a need, the purpose of this study is to propose a simulation approach which improves lighting condition on sidewalks of boulevard with variety of roadside trees. To do so, the simulation approach is applied for analyzing the interrupted condition by classified five standard types of roadside trees considering the growth of them and finding optimal layout of supplementary luminaires by lighting types. The results of this approach shows that it is useful for assessing the safety of pedestrian in nighttime.
This paper is concerned with an Internet of Things (IoT)-based unmanned home-delivery box system, in which the system is developed with a prototype using a weight sensor, shock sensor, the Arduino and Raspberry-Pi of open-source hardware platforms. The developed system provides several functions such as a safe storage means, prevention of delivery-theft, and remote control of the home-delivery box, etc. Specifically, the system recognizes the arrival of goods by detecting the weight of deliveries and sends the arrived message of deliveries to the recipient' smartphone, and also controls (i.e., open and close) the locker of the unmanned home-delivery box system remotely with the smartphone. Furthermore, the developed system provides automatically a warning alarm around the unmanned home-delivery box when an external shock is applied to the home-delivery box, and sends a message on the shock to the recipient' smartphone. The major functions of the developed home-delivery box system have been verified in a realistic environment, and confirmed to work well. With the application of the developed home-delivery box system to the homes and offices where recipients are always not to stay, it is expected to significantly improve the safety of delivered goods as well as to effectively prevent the delivery operatives posing as a crime.
