A Study on Fashion illustration Based on Pop Art Technique (패션 일러스트레이션에서 보여지는 팝 아트적 표현 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Today, Fashion illustration has been diversified in its usage and respotlighted in the significance of its artistry by artists' interpretation and subjective perspectives. The purpose of this study is to find out theoretical reestablishment of this extended expression sphere and possible expression coverage of Fashion illustration. First, based on the Fashion illustration works revealing expressive features of Pop Art, this study reviews major considerations of Fashion illustration, i.e. assemblage, silk screen and new possible perspectives respectively. Therefore, based on the reviews, this study seeks to deduce pop art characteristics of expression technique found in Fashion illustration. Expression modes of Pop Art are represented broadly by assemblage, silk screen and new perspectives. Based on corresponding case analysis, this study could come to find out the following expressive features of pop art revealed in Fashion illustration: First, it is found that contemporary Fashion illustration pursues unbounded expressions and unprecedented styles owing to material variety. Second, it is found that contemporary Fashion illustration tries to adopt new and experimental techniques including computer program. Third, it is found that Fashion illustration characterized mainly by expressive features of Pop Art shows and pioneer a wide variety of application spheres including commercials(ads), newspaper or magazine illustration and cartoon ads simply beyond designer's creative drawing. Furthermore, it is expected that Pop Art's expressive features shown in Fashion illustration will evolve through a fusion with various experimental techniques, and keep having cultural and artistic influence in the future as well.

A study of the Cartoonish Element in Folk Painting (민화(民畵)의 만화(漫畵)적 요소 연구)

  • The discussion on folk painting (minwha) has been continued till recent in various ways. MinWha is applied by painting artists and also utilized as a basic material of design. These are the attempts approved by the viewpoint of the 'Korean beauty'. In saying so, minwha symbolizes for typical types of Korean painting, and is articulated as an aspect of forgotten spirit. However, despite the fact of Minwha's frequent application, and its evident originality, it remains only the thread of the existence. Although minwha has a lot of commonalities and similarities with the characteristics of cartooning, a decisive attempt of cartooning is hardly shown through. Therefore, this paper is aim to classify creative paintings by the distinctive features of minwha, such as exaggeration and abridgment, sarcasm and current affair aspect, common technique of art drawing, caricatured element, expression of an ideal world, various techniques from artist's different comprehension, etcetera and to make opportunity to constructively apply these features in cartoons. The types of minwha are mostly classified by the contents of the painting. However, since the purpose of this thesis is to find caricatured aspects in minwha, it will be largely classified by the elements of animal, plant, human, insect species, finny tribe, feathered tribe, and nature phenomenon. This classification takes advantage of accessibility to understand the characterization of the object, and leads to take a positive approach.

Study of Fashion Design Applying the Formative Beauty of Architectural Works by Antoni Gaudi (패턴 절개를 응용한 의상의 조형적 형태미의 표현 연구 - 안토니오 가우디 건축 작품 형태를 중심으로 -)

  • This research is a study of fashion design that applied formative features of formal beauty of architecture into clothing design; we focused on Gaudi's architectural style as well as Art Nouveau style that became popular from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. We noted that in general the simple and flat features of cloth impose a limitation on the expression of formal features in clothing design, but a unique diversity of designs can be achieved, evoking a sense of freshness by an ideal combination of flat patterns and draping. The aim of this research is to present a possibility of extending the sphere of design expression by creating three-dimensional clothes with pattern-cutting skills and applications of three-dimensional patterns as well as flat patterns found in Gaudi's works of architecture that are distinguished in curvaceousness and formal beauty. As for the research method, we reviewed previous studies by making a close review of books, papers, the pictures and web sites related to this topic. We made our clothes on the basis of this theoretical consideration. We found the following points. First, by presenting a work of fashion inspired by architectural designs, we realized that formal beauty in architect can become a motive for clothing design in a broad scale by noting the formal images, decoration details, and formative features of architectural works. Second, the characteristic lines of Gaudi's architecture are suitable to be adapted for expressing the detailed lines of decoration in clothes. Third, we can express formative beauty in clothes by highlighting the variation of shapes and lines through various attempts of change in background pattern, even though there is a limitation in the availability of cloth material because we must choose pieces of cloth with right texture and thickness that can be cut and sewn appropriately to express formative beauty. Fourth, we confirmed that it was possible to create unique formative designs by a creative application of both flat and three-dimensional cutting.

A qualitative study on educational usefulness and problems of smartpad-based instruction in elementary school (초등학교 스마트패드 활용수업의 교육적 유용성과 문제점에 관한 질적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the educational usefulness, problems of smartpad-based instruction in elementary school based on qualitative research. To accomplish the purpose of the study, D elementary school in metropolitan area, two classes of digital textbook model school for seven years, were selected as the classes for observation. Six fourth and fifth graders and their teachers were interviewed and their 10 lessons were used for analyzing teaching and learning activities in smartpad-based instruction. The results of the study, 'Facilitating collaboration and interaction', 'effective use of various resource and SNS', 'improving concentrativeness', 'shortening waiting time' were identified as main educational usefulness. 'Lack of learning supporting tools', 'focusing on function rather than learning contents', 'low learning effectiveness', 'interference of flow' were presented as problems in using smartpad in classroom. Finally, some practical tasks for effective application of smartpad-based instruction were recommended.

A Development and Application of Puzzle-Based Computer Science Learning Contents for Pre-service Teachers (초등 예비교사를 대상으로 한 퍼즐 기반 컴퓨터과학 학습 내용 개발 및 적용)

  • In this study, we reviewed educational trend of Puzzle-Based Learning Contents and case studies at domestic and international, and have developed Puzzle-Based Learning Contents with the contents using fundamental concepts of computer science. Thirty one prospective elementary school teachers were applied to this contents, total thirty two sessions for four months, and Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking(TTCT) verbal and figural tests were performed to evaluate the changes in creativity. The result showed that there were significant improvements in two subscales of verbal creativity, verbal creativity index, and three subscales of figural creativity, figural creativity index. In this paper, on the basis of proven effectiveness, we introduce the Puzzle-Based Learning Contents as the alternative computer science education.

Contemplation on the Emergency Foods in Korea under the Japanese Occupation (근대 한식문헌 속 일제강점기 구황식품(救荒食品) 고찰)

  • This research analyzed emergency foods in Korea during the Japanese occupation through the food literature of that era, and attempted to determine the cultural history of food through recorded contents of emergency foods literature. The examination was mainly conducted on the basis of the four excerpts within the emergency foods literature of the Japanese occupation: "Emergency plants of the Joseon", "Wild Fruits and Plants of the Joseon", "Guhwangginam", and "Emergency Plants and How to Eat of the Joseon". After a thorough examination, each of the excerpts had unique data regarding amounts of ingredients, such as Namuls, trees, grain, and beans. "Emergency Plants of the Joseon" listed 142 Namuls, 54 trees,"Wild Fruits and Plants of the Joseon" listed 32 Namuls, 29 trees, "Guhwangginam" 4 grains, 205 Namuls, 84 trees, "Emergency Plants and How to Eat of the Joseon" listed five grain, three beans, 37 Namuls, and eight trees. Emergency foods literature demonstrated the utilization of various wild and edible plants as excellent ingredients for meals. Additionally, changes in traditional cooking methods using sugar, preservation through canning, and frying substantiate the subtle influence of foreign influence on Korean food. Perhaps the carefully structured components of the Korean food can be interpreted as a direct result of a scientific approach. It can be argued that creative application of methods ingredients, approach, of emergency foods is necessary to this modern age.

  • This paper examines the activating methods of heritage tourism by focusing on ecomuseum as regional revitalization strategy of agriculture heritage. Ecomuseum can be a vital tool to actualize the purpose of agriculture and fisheries heritage system, 'dynamic conservation' of 'a living heritage'. According to case study, Byeokgolje possesses high value to preserve and local government is planning to vitalize heritage tourism, but the system of heritage tourism is not properly equipped the four requisites for it (sincerity, educational value, entertainment, and nostalgia). Byeokgolje is insufficient system as an ecomuseum and has some challenging tasks to prepare the four requisites for ecomuseum(the legacy, museum, participation and contents) despite of high possibility. It is necessary that construct the four requisites for ecomuseum and fulfil the four requisites for heritage tourism to achieve the effect of regional revitalization by link to ecomuseum. That is, authentic contents developing, the participation of local residents, shakeholder, and creative class, site construction, academic approach, and providing the method of residents' income increasing are necessary.

The Effect of Storycrafting Program on Mathematical Creativity and Communication (스토리크래프팅 프로그램이 수학적 창의성 및 의사소통능력에 미치는 영향)

  • Storycrafting is a creative educational technique in Finland. Since 2011, storytelling approach of mathematics textbooks in South Korea can be regarded as opportunities for interesting learning of mathematics as well as its improper application to mathematics lessons. We need to revise and improve the storytelling method. The purpose of this study is to make a storycrafting program that encourages students to make mathematical stories for themselves and to analyze the effect of the storycrafting program on mathematical creativity and communication. To do so, we developed a storycrafting program of mathematics for sixth graders, which is composed of 33 lessons. And we applied them to one sixth class as experimental group. Through pre-test and post-test, their mathematical creativity and communication were tested. Based on the result of t-test, we can verify the statistical meaningful effect of the storycrafting program. This study contains some conclusions and suggestions.

A New Quantification Method for Multi-Unit Probabilistic Safety Assessment (다수기 PSA 수행을 위한 새로운 정량화 방법)

  • The objective of this paper is to suggest a new quantification method for multi-unit probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) that removes the overestimation error caused by the existing delete-term approximation (DTA) based quantification method. So far, for the actual plant PSA model quantification, a fault tree with negates have been solved by the DTA method. It is well known that the DTA method induces overestimated core damage frequency (CDF) of nuclear power plant (NPP). If a PSA fault tree has negates and non-rare events, the overestimation in CDF drastically increases. Since multi-unit seismic PSA model has plant level negates and many non-rare events in the fault tree, it should be very carefully quantified in order to avoid CDF overestimation. Multi-unit PSA fault tree has normal gates and negates that represent each NPP status. The NPP status means core damage or non-core damage state of individual NPPs. The non-core damage state of a NPP is modeled in the fault tree by using a negate (a NOT gate). Authors reviewed and compared (1) quantification methods that generate exact or approximate Boolean solutions from a fault tree, (2) DTA method generating approximate Boolean solution by solving negates in a fault tree, and (3) probability calculation methods from the Boolean solutions generated by exact quantification methods or DTA method. Based on the review and comparison, a new intersection removal by probability (IRBP) method is suggested in this study for the multi-unit PSA. If the IRBP method is adopted, multi-unit PSA fault tree can be quantified without the overestimation error that is caused by the direct application of DTA method. That is, the extremely overestimated CDF can be avoided and accurate CDF can be calculated by using the IRBP method. The accuracy of the IRBP method was validated by simple multi-unit PSA models. The necessity of the IRBP method was demonstrated by the actual plant multi-unit seismic PSA models.

A Study on Fusion Art Make-Up Using Depaysement Surrealism -Focusing on Creating Artworks- (초현실주의 데페이즈망 기법을 활용한 융합아트메이크업 연구 -작품제작을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the theoretical background of art make-up and surrealism in depth and shed new light on creative thoughts coming through application of Depaysement and various kinds of expression realized through art make-up, where art and make-up are incorporated. The study method is to conduct prior research followed by a theoretical study of the concept and techniques of Surrealistic Depaysement and theoretical background of art make-up through specialized books and internet sources and then to create 4 artworks representing characteristics of Depaysement technique categorized in dual image, fusion of heterogeneous objects, modification and conversion, and change of space. This examination resulted in first, a foundational ground for fusion and use of art and make-up sectors by creating a realm of expression based on creativity through incorporation of art and makeup and second, a sense of freshness and unfamiliar-ness by creation of an image in a completely unfamiliar space. Therefore, the researcher sets a direction for ways to come up with new ideas and expand the realm of expression and hopes that the art-makeup does not just become an aesthetic tool but turn itself as an art genre.
