고압용기(高壓容器)의 안전도(安全度) 측정(測定)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Study on the Measurement of Safety of a High Pressure Vessel)

  • There are two weak points in a high pressure vessel, one is a corner, the other is a crack on the base. In order to evaluate safety of a department of a corner and a crack like a starfish on the base in a high pressure vessel (working pressure: $130kg/cm^{2}$), which was made by Marison's Process, we analyzed stress by strain gauge, measured thickness and hardness by ultrasonic testing, and were able to test pressure by water pressure from nondestructive testing. Also destructive testings were applied to measure thickness and to observe microstructure and chemical composition of a corner on the base. From the results of the experiment, values of experiment were satisfied with a condition of application. But, it is considered that a crack on the base is to be investigated with more by Fracture Mechanics.

Defect Estimation of a Crack in Underground Pipelines by CMFL Type NDT System

  • A crack which is axially oriented with small size is hard to detect in conventional system. CMFL(Circumferential Magnetic Flux Leakage) type PIG(Pipelines Inspection Gauge) in the NDT(Nondestructive Testing), is operated to detect this defect called axially oriented cracks in the pipe. It is necessary to decompose the size and shapes of cracks for the maintenance of underground pipelines. This article is mainly focused on the decomposing method of the size and shape of the axially oriented cracks by using inspection signal data for defect.

  • Kikukawa's compliance method using the conventional crack mouth clip-on gauge was proposed as a desired measurement technique to monitor the notched specimen fatigue behavior. The measurement technique makes it possible to continuously monitor the initiation and growth of incipient small part-through crack originated at the notch root and the phenomenon of crack closure. The variarion of natural flaw geometry with fatigue cycling was investigated. The test results on 7075-T6 aluminium alloy suggest the dependence of effective stress intensity factor range ratio .upsilon. on the maximum stress intensity factor .KAPPA.max.

포장 균열 깊이가 공동 관리 등급에 미치는 영향 분석 (Analysis of the Effect of Pavement Crack Depth of the Cavity Management Grade)

  • 연구목적:서울시는 공동관리 등급 기준에 따라 공동의 규모, 아스팔트포장 두께, 포장면의 균열깊이를 고려하여 긴급, 우선, 일반, 관찰등급으로 공동의 위험도를 분류하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2019년 서울시 공동조사용역에서 발견된 265개소의 공동의 상부 포장상태를 확인하여 포장균열이 확인된 17개소에 대하여 균열깊이를 측정하였다. 연구방법: 1차에서는 확인된 공동의 균열 확인을 위하여 버니어 캘리퍼스, 테이퍼 게이지, 깊이 게이지를 활용하여 균열 폭 및 깊이를 측정하였다. 2차에서는 상부 노면에서 가장 크게 균열이 발생한 위치를 확인하여 아스콘을 천공 후 균열 깊이를 추가로 측정하였다. 연구결과:확인된 시험공동 17개소 중 9개소에서 공동 관리 등급이 상향 조정되었다. 따라서, 긴급복구와 우선복구의 경우에는 포장 균열 깊이와 잔여 아스팔트 콘크리트 포장 두께에 따라 등급 조정이 필요하다. 결론:공동 상부에 균열이 발생한 경우는 천공을 통하여 균열 진행 상태를 파악하고 잔여 아스팔트 콘크리트 두께를 확인하여 공동등급을 결정해야한다.

Investigation and Analysis of the Occurrence of Rail Head Checks

  • Wear and rolling contact fatigue (RCF) defects are most important causes of rail damage, and often interaction competitive at present railway track. Head check is one of rolling contact fatigue (RCF) defects, and generally occurs in mild circular curves and transition curves that are set at both ends of sharp circular curves. Wear tends to limit the crack growth of head checks by removing the material from the RCF surface. In order to clarify the conditions of the occurrence and growth of head checks, the authors measured the interacting forces between wheels and rails and the angle of attack of wheelset, and carried out contact analyses using the actual profile data of wheels and rails. The effects of the lateral force, the contact geometry, and the wear rate at rail gauge comer on the formation of head checks were also analyzed by using the worn profiles of actual wheels and rails and the data obtained by a track inspection car. Some specific range of wear rate at the gauge comer was identified as having close relation with occurrence of head checks.

  • Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI) with a CW laser, a video system and an image processor was utilized to measure the in-plane displacement. Unlike traditional strain gauges or Moire method. ESPI method measure the in-plane displacement on real time with out any surface preparation on surface attachment. The specimen has a crack of 10*0.1 mm in the middle of plate and strain gauge was also attached on that surface to compare with ESPI method. This study reveled the ESPI method to measure the displacement and distribution of strain in the specimen. It was shown in tensile tests that the measurement by ESPI method was comparable with strain gauge.

  • 콘크리트 구조물에 발생하는 구조적인 균열은 재하하중에 의하여 콘크리트가 저항할 수 있는 인장강도보다 더 큰 인장강도가 가해졌을 때 콘크리트의 인장영역에서 발생하며, 이는 구조물의 노후화 또는 재하하중에 대한 저항능력이 감소되었음을 의미한다. 그러므로 콘크리트에 발생한 구조적 균열은 구조물에 치명적인 손상을 유발시킬 수 있으며, 구조물의 안전성 확보와 효과적인 유지관리를 위해서는 이를 검출하는 기법에 대한 연구가 반드시 필요한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 토목계측 분야에서 가장 널리 활용되고 있는 변형률 센서를 철근콘크리트 보에 부착하여 보의 인장부와 압축부의 변형률을 측정하는 실내실험을 수행하였으며, 하중 재하에 따른 변형률의 변화, 측정부위의 탄성계수 변화, 그리고 중립축의 변화 등을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과로부터, 측정된 변형률을 이용하여 중립축의 변화 추이를 추정하므로써 가장 효과적으로 균열을 검출할 수 있는 알고리즘을 제시하였다.

  • The measurement of thr high-temperature strains is one of the challenging subjects in mechanical engineering. For the precise measurement, proper high-temperature strain gauge, cement and skilled technique are needed. In this paper, a high-temperature strain measurement is performed for the perfectly flat CRT. As this CRT is structurally very weak, cracking of the panel frequently occurs during the heat cycle in the furnace. From the measured strain variations of the panel with tension shadow mask, the crack behavior can be explained.

  • Boshin-Kak Bell, which is one of the largest bells, is located at Chong-Ro Square in the center of Seoul. The bell has been struct early morning and late evening for time-report since the 14th century in Lee Era. Therefore Boshin-Kak Bell has been an intimate old friend of Seoul citizen more than 500 years. Unfortunately, motal large cracks were found inside this bell in the horizontal and vertical directions in 1979. The present paper has investigated the propagated bell-crack by ultrasonic flaw detecting method, and the stress level, bell vibration and weight measurement by electric wire resistance strain gauge method. The results indicate that they are useful for further study of Korean bell by nondestructive test.
