  • This dissertation analyzed the satisfaction of corrective counseling programs for Korean domestic violence offenders. I conducted a survey of Korean domestic violence offenders scattered throughout the country. The survey period was between Mar Feb. 20, 2006 and Apr. 29, 2006. The specific objects of the survey are the 250 domestic violence offenders who got counseling in the Goyang branch office of the Justice Ministry-affiliated Uijeongbu Probation & Parole Center, Ansan Citizen Welfare Society's domestic violence counseling center, Korea Domestic Violence Counseling Center Association, Korea Women's Hot Line, Korea Family Law Counseling Center and its branch offices throughout the country, and the counseling centers commissioned by the court for domestic violence offenders. The study was based on a poll on 182 of the 250 offenders. The research result includes: First, the satisfaction of corrective counseling programs for offenders varies depending upon the age, educational background, location, job, income, and childhood abuse of offenders. In particular, the less experience of childhood abuse leads to greater effect of education. Second, of the types of corrective counseling programs for offenders, the satisfaction for those in couple counseling is the greatest. This is because couple counseling is more influential than individual in the professional education that helps to share and understand couple problems.

  • Recently, the COVID environment has had a serious impact on the university education system. Career guidance methods of students, which have a significant impact on enrollment and employment rates of universities, should be changed in the COVID environment. While a traditional career guidance activity mainly use offline counseling methods, it should consider online counseling methods more seriously in the COVID environment. In this paper, I propose a hybrid(online and offline) career guidance model that can be effectively used in both online and offline education environments. The proposed hybrid model, which has the characteristics of online and offline, can effectively guide college students even in the COVID environment. In this paper, I show the usefulness of the proposed model by applying it to a real-world counseling case.

  • This study was to evaluate the effectiveness of nutritional counseling for farmers by using computer- based program to estimate pre - and post - knowledge and attitude changes. The desirable change of both knowledge and attitude focused on improving food Intake and early easing of body complaints. 311 agricultural workers in Korea were chosen for this experiment. The score was compared by 2 methods. In the first method, the scores were calculated from nutrient intake quantity and indices. In the second method, the difference of pre and post test of nutritional counseling by count of correct answers of foods and food preparation attitudes was measured according to different body complaints status. Major farming type was rice-planting(39%). The consciousness of health status of the subjects of less than 50 years old was good(42%), but it was only 20% in over 50 years' group. Female farmers felt uncomfortable in body complaints. Their body complaints were 2 times more than the male farmers, particularly, in over 50 years group. Nutrient intakes were lower in male based on the KRDA, except for vitamin C, niacin, and phosphate. Female farmers' nutrient intake was adequate based on the KRDA, but was low in vitamin A, pyridoxin, and iron. From the scores of knowledge and attitude by pre and post tests, counseling was efficient In nutritional education of all age groups, especially the older ones. The effect of counseling by farming type showed that the real agricultural workers had more increased score In the post test. This results Indicated that counseling about food, nutrition. and health to these workers was always effective. Therefore nutritional counseling and education program should be developed for different kinds of health and nutrition. It would be conducted to promote food behavior and improve nutritional and health status of farmers.

Methods: A total of 52 current and former smokers who utilized smoking cessation counseling provided by the health center at least once participated in this study. Using a self-report survey method, data were collected in November 2005. Results: The mean age and duration of smoking of the participants were 49 and 28 years, respectively. Seventy-one percent had experienced smoking cessation trials prior to using the counseling services, and most of the participants had utilized smoking cessation counseling less than 5 times. Mean scores of temptation, self-efficacy, and satisfaction with counseling were $3.39{\pm}0.75,\;3.80{\pm}0.66$, and $4.38{\pm}0.55$ (range,1-5), respectively. The participants were largely vulnerable to smoking temptations under conditions of anxiety or stress. The results of the study were as follows: First, the scores of the self-concept and the interpersonal relationships measures of the experimental group students appeared to be higher than the control group. However among the self-concept measure, the score of the emotional self showed no statistically significant differences between the groups. • Purposes: The purposes of this descriptive correlational study were to assess knowledge and attitude toward smoking and smoking cessation counseling activity among nurses in a community, and to identify predictors of their smoking cessation counseling activity. Method: Nurses employed by institutions such as university hospital, hospital, clinic, and health department in a community were surveyed using a structured questionnaire. Of the nurses invited to participate in this study, 760 (88.5%) responded with completed questionnaires. Results: Nurses had relatively positive attitude toward their roles and responsibilities about smoking cessation counseling activity. However, smoking cessation counseling activity was not a routine part of their nursing practice. Moreover, the level of engagement with smoking cessation counseling activity was significantly different by working place. Nurses who were working at the university hospital, hospital, and health department were more actively engaged with smoking cessation counseling activity than nurses who were working at the clinic. Smoking cessation counseling activity was significantly correlated with knowledge of smoking. attitudes toward smoking-related issues, and self-efficacy for smoking cessation counseling activity. In the final stepwise multiple regression, smoking cessation activity was predicted by the nurses' working place, attitudes toward smoking-related issues, and self-efficacy for counseling knowledge and skills. Conclusion: In conclusion, nurses need to participate routinely and actively in smoking cessation counseling activity. To help nurses counsel and intervene patients regarding smoking cessation more effectively, it is essential to integrate educational information on smoking cessation intervention into curriculums of nursing schools as well as to offer smoking cessation intervention as a continuing education program available for currently practicing nurses.
