  • Although the object detection accuracy with still images has been significantly improved with the advance of deep learning techniques, the object detection problem with video data remains as a challenging problem due to the real-time requirement and accuracy drop with occlusion. In this research, we propose a method in pig detection for video monitoring environment. First, we determine a motion, from a video data obtained from a tilted-down-view camera, based on the average size of each pig at each location with the training data, and extract key frames based on the motion information. For each key frame, we then apply YOLO, which is known to have a superior trade-off between accuracy and execution speed among many deep learning-based object detectors, in order to get pig's bounding boxes. Finally, we merge the bounding boxes between consecutive key frames in order to reduce false positive and negative cases. Based on the experiment results with a video data set obtained from a pig farm, we confirmed that the pigs could be detected with an accuracy of 97% at a processing speed of 37fps.

  • This study was conducted to identify the convergence relation of critical thinking disposition, problem-solving ability and college life adaptation and to find out the factors that influence college life adaptation. The survey was collected on 172 2nd and 3rd grade students majoring in dental laboratory technology from three-year colleges in Chungbuk and Jeonbuk. The analysis results showed that the critical thinking disposition was 3.50, problem-solving ability of the study subjects was 3.55 and college life adaptation was 3.27. The most influential factor in college life adaptation was critical thinking disposition followed by major satisfaction and college satisfaction in that order. In order to improve the level of college life adaptation of dental laboratory technology students, it is necessary to reform the educational environment and develop a variety of educational program to increase critical thinking, major satisfaction and college satisfaction.

  • This study was performed to examine the effect of convergence-based simulation education on the problem solving ability and self-efficacy and confidence of core fundamental nursing skill performance for nursing students. A non equivalent control group post-test only design was utilized(experimental group(n=97), control group (n=87)). Data were analyzed using independent t-test, Chi-square test and Pearson's correlation. The scores of the problem solving ability(t=-2.04, p=.043) and confidence of core fundamental nursing skill performance(t=5.31, p<.001) were higher than those of the experimental group than control group. It is necessary to find ways to iterative and convergent research that verifies the continuous development and effectiveness of various courses.

  • The purpose of this study is to implement the convergence thinking in problem-based learning (PBL) on paramedic education. PBL scenario course was conducted for 78 students in the third year of emergency medical technology during the first semester of 15 weeks in 2017. After 15 weeks, data of 73 students were analyzed. Among questions about learning interest in PBL, 'neutral' was the most frequent response with 38% for "PBL scenario classes were more effective in learning and acquiring knowledge than lecture class". For "The lessons learned in the class helped to improve the ability to come up with appropriate solutions for problem solving", 57.5% responded 'agree', and for "The lessons learned in the class helped with confidence in the emergency scene", 50.7% responded 'agree'. PBL will be an effective and efficient way of teaching as a learning curriculum for understanding the field situation.

  • As technologies in various industrial fields develop, high-quality parts are required. In the past, precision parts were produced by the contact machining method, but the contact machining method has clear limitations. In order to solve this problem, research on a non-contact processing method has been conducted, and laser processing and electric discharge processing are representative. However, the non-contact method has a problem in that productivity is insufficient, and there is a problem that it takes a lot of time to continuously process microholes. Researchers have developed an electron beam drilling equipment for continuous processing of fine holes, and a vaporization amplification sheet to increase the processing efficiency of the equipment. In this study, a cylindrical vaporization amplification sheet using room temperature curing type silicon was fabricated, and the metal distribution and thickness uniformity of the produced sheet were analyzed. In order to manufacture a cylindrical vaporization amplification sheet, an equipment capable of using centrifugal force was developed, and a sample in which metal powder was evenly distributed and a constant thickness was produced.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the difference between communicative competence and problem solving ability by applying project - based instruction in the community dental hygienic subject. For this purpose, we measured 30 students' communication ability and problem solving ability using the same questionnaire before and after experiencing project learning. The data were Collected from 30 undergraduate students and analyzed by paired t-test with SPSS. The result demonstrated that project-based learning method has an significant effect on improvement of communication skill and problem solving ability of undergraduate students. Based on the results of this study, in order to improve the practical ability, it is necessary to activate the self-directed active learning method such as Project-based learning for community dental hygiene major study.

  • In this study, a convergence talent education program was developed and applied to elementary school students to investigate its effect on their energy literacy and creative problem-solving ability. Accordingly, a study was conducted on 29 sixth-grade elementary school students. The results of pre- and post-tests on energy literacy and creative problem-solving ability were analyzed. The results revealed that the convergence talent education program on hydraulic energy had a positive effect on the elementary school students' energy literacy as well as their creative problem-solving ability. Furthermore, after completing the hydro-energy convergence talent education program, the students' interest in energy and science increased and they wanted to connect such with their daily life. It appears that meaningful results were obtained through the convergence talent education program, specifically in the process of generating and utilizing hydraulic energy a plan was developed to allow students to solve problems in student-centered classes.

  • In this study, we solve the Cayley inclusion problem and the fixed point problem in real Hilbert space using Tseng's technique with inertial extrapolation in order to obtain more efficient results. We provide a strong convergence theorem to approximate a common solution to the Cayley inclusion problem and the fixed point problem under some appropriate assumptions. Finally, we present a numerical example that satisfies the problem and shows the computational performance of our suggested technique.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate brain activation pattern and functional connectivity during convergence thinking based creative problem solving and chemistry problem solving to identify characteristic convergence thinking that is backbone of creative problem solving using functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI). A fMRI paradaigm inducing convergence thinking and chemistry problem solving was developed and adjusted on 17 highschool students, and brain activation image during task was analyzed. According to the results, superior frontal gyrus, middle frontal gyrus, inferior frontal gyrus, medial frontal gyrus, cingulate gyrus, precuneus and caudate nucleus body in left hemisphere and cuneus and caudate nucleus body in right hemisphere were significantly activated during convergence thinking. The other hand, middle frontal gyrus, medial frontal gyrus and caudate nucleus in left hemisphere and middle frontal gyrus, lingual gyrus, caudate nucleus, thalamus and culmen of cerebellum in right hemisphere were significantly activated during chemistry problem solving. As results of analysis functional connectivity, all of areas activated during convergence thinking were functionaly connected, whereas scanty connectivity of chemistry problem solving between right middle frontal gyrus, bilateral nucleus caudate tail and culmen. The results show that logical thinking, working memory, planning, imaging, languge based thinking and learning motivation were induced during convergence thinking and these functions and regions were synchronized intimately. Whereas, logical thinking and inducing learning motivation functioning during chemistry problem solving were not synchronized. These results provide concrete information about convergence thinking.

  • The university bachelor's system is based on autonomy, but due to the rigid academic structure, it is not appropriate to respond to changes in social demand. Recently, universities are pursuing diversification of their bachelor's system. With the introduction of various majors (linkage major, convergence major, autonomic major, and self-design major), efforts are being made to nurture convergence talent based on mutual linkages between major and departments. This study introduces the design and operation process of 'Global Creative Convergence Major' which the four universities of Chungcheong region promoted as a union. In particular, it derives the key elements of each step and presents the operating model and implications based on the main features. Convergence major operation model constitutes educational system (talent award, educational goal, competency factor, curriculum) through linkage between specialization areas of universities. The competency elements contain creative competence, convergence competency, problem solving competency, and global competency.
