  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the effects of a multicultural course on nursing students' multicultural acceptability and competency. Method: The research design for this study was a non-equivalent control group, non-synchronized pre- and post-test. The experimental group (n=28) took 13 weeks of the multicultural course, while the control group (n=28) received only regular classes over the same period. Pre- and post-tests were done to identify the effects of the program. The data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using the PASW 18.0 program. Results: All indices of multicultural acceptability and competency in the experimental group were significantly higher than that of control group after the program, except for two: universality (a measure of multicultural acceptability) and multicultural awareness (a measure of multicultural competency). Conclusion: These results suggest that the multicultural course was effective in elevating the level of multicultural acceptability and competency among nursing students.

Methods: This study carried out a questionnaire survey oriented to 323 people who agreed to participate in this research. For the final analysis, this study selected 298 sheets of questionnaires excluding 25 sheets with insufficient response qualities. Results: According to the results of regression analysis, significant correlation between interpersonal relations competency and Smartphone addiction level was not observed. However, according to the results of correlation analysis, the subordinate factor of Smartphone addiction "directionality of virtual world" showed a significant negative correlation with "opinion expression regarding rights or refusal" of interpersonal relations competency (p<0.05), while "withdrawal," the subordinate factor of interpersonal relations competency and Smartphone addiction displayed a negative correlation with Smartphone addiction (p<0.05). Conclusion : However, the mean of the 3DP group was within the clinical tolerance suggested by the previous researchers. Based on this, dental prosthesis fabricated by 3D printing technology is considered to be clinically acceptable.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the core competency and educational needs of paramedic students in disaster management. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 207 paramedic students between June 1 and October 29, 2017. The study instrument included disaster preparedness (15 items), disaster management core competency (26 items), disaster education needs (26 items). Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and Duncan's multiple range test using IBM SPSS 24.0. Results: The students reported that only 13% had experienced or witnessed disasters; however, 95.2% would be willing to help in the event of a disaster. Their disaster preparedness was 1.84 points on a 3-point scale. We did see differences in disaster preparedness by background: hospital practice (F=5.352, p=.001); fire-fighting practice (F=8.994, p=.000). The students had a core competency of disaster management at 3.25 points on a 5-point scale with differences depending on major satisfaction (F=3.760, p=.006). The level of student demands for disaster education was 4.29 points. Conclusion: If variety of educational environments are provided for disaster-related learning and training, the core competency of disaster management for paramedic students will improve. The students will be available as disaster management experts in various fields, even after graduation.

  • Korea's e-government is the world best system and the open government data field is also ranking number 1 by UN evaluation. Therefore Korea's ICT level is ranking number 1 in the world especially in ICT (Information Communication Technology). However, in terms of national ICT capabilities, national ICT competency education is tend to perform by the simple list of courses rather than detail definition of the specific skills or training. In this paper, we define the national ICT capabilities through research and analysis of the national ICT competency model and define the relevant curriculum. This is very important to develop national ICT competency as well as ICT technologies because other countries will develop their information by learning from Korea's ICT and e-government as a model. Therefore, we firstly study about the national ICT competency model and will be drawn from the courses required for national ICT competency model.

  • The recent phenomenon of job "Miss Match", which is inconsistent with knowledge in the demand of educational training institutes and industries, has spread to an increase in private education costs for reeducation and employment of new hires, resulting in weak individual job competency and poor employment capability, as well as economic and material waste at the national level. To compensate for these problems, the National Competency Standards(NCS), which are available immediately in practice and look for a standard point of national job competency with the aim of fostering human resources sought by industries, were developed, and even the NCS-based qualification system was launched in line with the stream of times. This study is intended to look into the importance and priority of competency units and competency unit elements at the NCS-based qualification L3 level in the skin care field for an overall check of the NCS-based qualification level at a time when educational institutes are organizing and operating the school curriculums according to the NCS and NCS-based qualification level. And it is attempted to provide basic data for the development of curriculum in fostering professional human resources required by industries. To analyze the needs for competency units and competency unit elements at the L3 level, a survey using AHP method was carried out to a group of field experts and a group of education experts. In addition, the SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) ver. 21.0 and Expert Choice 2000, an AHP-only solution was used to do statistical processing through the processes of data coding and data cleaning. The findings showed that there was a partial difference of opinion between a group of field experts and a group of education experts. This indicates that the inconsistencies between educational training institutes and industrial sites should be resolved at this time of change with the aim of fostering field customized human resources with professional skills. Consequently, the solution is to combine jobs at industrial sites and standardized educations of educational institutes with human resources required at industrial sites.

  • In this study, we investigated chemistry teachers' the Stage of Concern (SoC) and the Level of Use (LoU) regarding competency assessment, which was emphasized along with the introduction of the 2015 revised curriculum. A questionnaire was developed based on the CBAM, and responses from 123 chemistry teachers were analyzed. The frequency was investigated for both SoC and LoU, and then the chi-square test was performed according to demographic variables. As a result of the SoC analysis, most of the teachers stayed in stage 3 (management concern, 26.8%) and stage 2 (personal concern, 19.5%). Additionally, among the demographic variables, there was a statistically significant difference in whether or not related education experience was present during the pre-service teacher period. In LoU analysis, Level III (mechanical) was the most frequent (26.8%), followed by Level I (orientation, 22.8%), Level II (preparation, 13.8%). In LoU, there was also a statistically significant difference in whether or not related education experience was present during the pre-service teacher period. The Spearman correlation coefficient between SoC and LoU in the competency assessment was .298 and there was a positive correlation. Based on the above results, educational implications for improving the concern and use of chemistry teachers for competency assessment were discussed.

  • As the CM at Risk market grows recently, designers and CM companies that have been performing agency CM services have been showing their interests to participate in the CM at Risk projects. With the assumption that agency CM companies with a lot of experiences and know-how in the field of construction project management have created the circumstances to enter the CM at Risk market, this study investigates the competencies necessary for the agency CM companies to carry out the CM at Risk projects. The compentencies to run the CM at Risk projects were identified based on the literature review. A survey was conducted to identify the competencies that need to be supplemented first. The survey results revealed that competency related to partner companies, finance and guarantee, risk and claim, and project cost were identified to have a higher level of complementation compared to other competencies. In addition, considering that the level of competency that need to be secured is high, as the level of holding of all competency is on average 76% of the required level, in the beginning, small-scale CM at Risk projects with relatively low risk are mainly carry out, strengthening competency and then increasing the scale is considered more appropriate strategy.
