This is a descriptive correlation research to examine converged factors affecting compassion competence of clinical nurses. Research objects are 233 nurses working in three general hospitals located in Chungnam province, and who understand the purposes of this research and agree to participate in this research. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis were used. The variable which has the greatest effect on compassion competence was compassion satisfaction, followed by clinical experience, compassion fatigue, with those 3 variables explaining 34.4% of compassion competence. Therefore it is necessary to develop specific education programs to improve compassion competence of nurses. Since the explaining power of three variables to compassion competence is 34.4%, it is necessary to add more meaningful variables to explain compassion competence of clinical nurses.

  • In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution when ICT and convergence are emphasized, companies want talented people with a wide range of complex problem solving competencies, system competencies as well as major knowledge. This study examined the difference in perceived competency needed for future accounting officers using 166 valid questionaries prepared with 4 factors based on previous researches. The result shows that the workers, who majored in accounting and have more than 5 years of company experience, and the CEOs think the social competence is the most important while the accounting professors think the major competence is the most important qualification. These results indicate that, in order to reflect the industrial needs, the colleges should change their accounting major curriculums to provide various competences such as the social competence in addition to the basic major competence.

  • This study investigated the effects of body consciousness and body esteem on interpersonal competence. A structured questionnaire was distributed to 220 dental hygiene students during July 1-31, 2020. The findings show that the subjects scored means of 3.32±0.26, 3.33±0.53, and 3.49±0.45 out of 5 in body consciousness, body esteem, and interpersonal competence, respectively. There were negative correlations between body surveillance and body shame (r=-0.303, p<0.001), as well as between two subfactors of body consciousness. Body shame was positively correlated with subfactors of interpersonal competence such as relationship initiation (r=0.217, p<0.01), claim for displeasure (r=0.218, p<0.01), and conflict management (r=0.231, p<0.01). Under the category of body esteem, body function esteem had positive correlations with conflict management (r=0.293, p<0.01) and consideration for others (r=0.141, p<0.05). Body consciousness and body esteem had effects on interpersonal competence, with an explanatory power of 13.4%. Higher body consciousness (β=.16, p=0.016) and body esteem (β=.22, p=0.02) were associated with greater interpersonal competence. These findings demonstrate that college students' objectified body consciousness and body esteem have an impact on their interpersonal competence. This raises the need to develop and apply a program to help students have positive perceptions of their bodies and establish their own individuality and body images to enhance their interpersonal competence.

Finally, the results of multiple regression analyses reported that interpersonal competence was influenced by intimacy with mother, I-position, and emotional cutoff, showing that I-position was the most influential variable. In addition, I-position was also found to be the powerful variable affecting all sub-factors of interpersonal competence. Conclusions: This study suggests the importance of providing education and/or counseling services focusing on strengthening the relationship with their parents and on increasing self-differentiation level for college students' greater interpersonal competence, which are considered as critical indices of their mental health and psychological well-being.
