An approach to robot hybrid position/force control, which allows force manipulations to be realized without overshoot and overdamping while in the presence of unknown environment, is given in this paper. The manin idea is to used dynamic compensation for known robot parts and fuzzy compensation for unknown environment so as to improve system performance. The fuzzy compensation is implemented by using rule based fuzzy approach to identify the unknown environment. The establishment of proposed control system consists of following two stages. First, similar to the resovled acceleration control method, dynamic compensation and PD control based on known robot dynamics, kinematics and estimated environment stiffness is introduced. To avoid overshoot the whole control system is constructed with overdamping. In the second stage, the unknown environment stiffness is identified by using fuzzy reasoning, where the fuzzy compensation rules are obtained priori as the expression of the relationship betweenenvironment stiffness and system. Based on the simulation result, comparison between cases with or without fuzzy identifications are given, which illustrate the improvement achieced.
For the precision positioning and tracking control, the proper friction compensation is essential. The friction causes steady state error. The friction compensation based on the velocity and the controlling input or the desired velocity provides limited performance if the compensation value is fixed. In this paper, a friction compensation scheme using a fuzzy logic is proposed. The friction compensation amount is adjusted depending on the velocity and controlling input. The proposed fuzzy friction compensator with a pole-assignment controller is implemented in a linear positioning system. To illustrate the effectiveness of this scheme, computer simulations and experiments are carried out for the cases of no friction compensation, the proposed fuzzy friction compensation, and another friction compensation scheme based on velocity and control input, and the results are compared with each other.

This paper presents the In-process compensation to control cutter runout and improve the machined surface quality. Cutter runout compensation system consists of the micro-positioning servo system with piezoelectric actuator which is embeded in the sliding table to manipulate radial depth of cut in real-time. Cutting force feedback control was proposed in the angle domain based upon repetitive learning control strategy to eliminate chip load variation in end milling process. Micro-positioning control due to adaptive actuation force response improves the machined surface quality by compensation runout effect induced cutting force variation. This result will provide lots of information to build-up the preciswion machining technology.

This paper illustrates the feasibility and the effectiveness of the disturbance feedforward compensation control proposed in the previous paper. The compensator is designed experimentally by means of the Multiple Filtered-x Least Mean Square algorithm. A 2-DOF active magnetic bearing system subject to base motion is built and the compensation control is applied. The experimental results demonstrate that the compensation control reduces the air-gap responses within 10$%$ of those by the feedback control alone without increasing the control inputs.

This study proposes an AC servo motor control program structure and its implementation method to efficiently integrate 13 types of additional compensation algorithms into the basic FOC (field-oriented control) algorithm program. Various compensation algorithms are necessary to enhance the stability and performance of machine tools by compensating for interference from disturbances and vibrations. Each compensation algorithm is implemented as a separate, independent function and called from a switch-case statement in the ISR (interrupt service routine) of the PWM (pulse-width modulation) device. The advantages of this approach include facilitating not only debugging and testing but also reducing the possibility of errors during the program development phase. Thus, it is easy to add and activate each specific compensation algorithm for the program update during the program operation phase. The implemented motor control program was experimented with a single-axis feed shaft testbed driven by a commercial AC servo motor control drive board and a 750 Watts SPMSM (surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor), and the results verified its normal operation and performance improvement.
A model for calculating structure interacted mechanics is proposed. A structural interaction model and controller design based on tuned mass damping (TMD) was developed to control the induced vibration. A key point is to introduce a new analytical model to evaluate the properties of the TMD that recognizes the motion-dependent nonlinear response observed in the simulations. Aiming at the problem of increased current harmonics and low efficiency of permanent magnet synchronous motors for electric vehicles due to dead time effect, a dead time compensation method based on neural network filter and current polarity detection is proposed. Firstly, the DC components and the higher harmonic components of the motor currents are obtained by virtue of what the neural network filters and the extracted harmonic currents are adjusted to the required compensation voltages by virtue of what the neural network filters. Then, the extracted DC components are used for current polarity dead time compensation control to avert the false compensation when currents approach zero. The neural network filter method extracts the required compensation voltages from the speed component and the current polarity detection compensation method obtains the required compensation voltages by discriminating the current polarity. The combination of the two methods can more precisely compensate the dead time effect of the control system to improve the control performance. Furthermore, based on the relaxed method, the intelligent approach of stability criterion can be regulated appropriately and the artificial TMD was found to be effective in reducing cross-wind vibrations.

This paper proposes a simple compensation scheme for the time delay caused by measurement, calculation and selection of voltage vector in Direct Torque Control (DTC) of an induction motor. In general scheme, it is difficult to know the exact delay time, furthermore the delay time can be varied by program routines for calculation and processing of measured data. In this proposed scheme, by applying voltage vector at the beginning of next sampling period, a fixed delay time is achieved and its compensation becomes much simpler. Furthermore, with the simple compensation algorithm, an improved performance can be achieved by shortening sampling period. Experimental results prove the feasibility of the proposed scheme in induction motor control.
The alternative precise method for voltage balancing and load compensation using the susceptances control of a STATCOM is discussed. With the control of STATCOM's output current, it is confirmed that the compensation susceptances can be variable. And then the STATCOM's control method about compensation susceptances for load compensation and voltage balancing/regulation is derived. Finally, the effectiveness of load compensation and voltage balancing/regulation is confirmed through computer simulation.
In this paper, a friction compensation scheme using a fuzzy logic is presented. For the precision positioning and tracking control, the proper friction compensation is essential. Friction compensation schemes based on velocity and controlling input or desired velocity, have limitations because the compensation values are fixed. In this paper, a fuzzy friction compensation scheme adjusts the compensation value depending on the velocity and the position error. The proposed fuzzy friction compensator is implemented in a linear positioning system. The performance is illustrated by simulations and experiments.
