The purposes of this study were to measure university academic achievement based on gender. We analyzed university academic achievement based on gender. The subjects for this analysis were 322 students from freshmen to seniors who received grades in their first semester in the computer engineering department at a university located in the Chungcheong area. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, the average university academic achievement was 3.01. Second, the university academic achievement of female students was higher than that of male students in the entire curriculum, liberal arts, and major subjects. Students showed higher academic achievement when their grades rose. Male students showed higher rate of rise when their grades rose compared to female students. This paper proposes that it is necessary to develop programs to further adaption to university life for males. Since male students showed significantly lower university academic achievement, various programs like counseling and mentoring are needed.
This study stems from the work of Lehman et al. (Ergonomics, 2001) which concluded that standing yields better work performance, and from the growing health trend of recommending the reduction of the amount of time spent in sitting (Owen et al., Exercise and Sport Science Reviews, 2010). Lajoie et al. (Experimental Brain Research, 1993) provided an initial significant contribution to a theory that standing requires a person to control balance, equating to demand higher productive output from the cognitive system than when a person is sitting. An assumption was formulated that standing position during class is feasible and can be adopted on the belief that it might contribute positive results to students' performance. The purpose of this study is to identify whether a body position during exams tested along with exposure durations has a significant effect on college students' performance. Mathematical analysis and reading comprehension exam was used to measure the cognitive performance of the students. Two factors, position and duration, were tested for significance with two levels each subjected to six replicates. Twenty-four students from the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology, University of the Philippines Los Ba$\tilde{n}$os were randomly selected. The experiment showed that the body position during exams is a significant factor for the Math exam, but insignificant for the Reading Comprehension exam.
The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that have an effect on students, especially in the natural science track, would enter the college of Engineering. For this, the data of KEEP was used, and logistic regression was utilized for analyzing this data. The dependent variables are 'Entering the college of engineering' and 'No entering the college of engineering'. The probable independent variables are 'Sex', 'Interest in mathematics', 'mathematics study achievement', 'Interest in Science', 'Science study achievement', 'The area of book that is read', 'The area of club', 'Knowing about working environment and task of the job' and 'Knowing about prospect and wage of the job'. The results are as follows. These are 'Sex', 'Knowing about working environment and task of the job', 'Knowing about prospect and wage of the job' that affect statistically entering the college of engineering. In other words, the male student who know working environment, task, prospect and wage of the job well may enter the college of Engineering.
The purpose of this study was to develop an infographic-based STEAM program for high school students and test its effectiveness. In this study, we converged high school 'art' education with 'Korean language' and 'mathematics.' The program was divided into four phases. The effectiveness of the program was analyzed by conducting matched pair t-test for 377 students at a girl's high school in Seoul before and after the program. The study found that the students' self-concept on mathematics and their attitude towards choosing science and engineering career showed significant increases after the program. By connecting high school courses through data visualization based on cognitive information design, findings from this study suggest that our infographic-based STEAM program should be implemented more frequently at high schools.
The purpose of this study is to develop an educational model based on the capacity analysis of college students. In order to measure the learning ability of female science and engineering students, we used various tools to derive core competencies. The competency element of human resources implementation, the element of learning achievement area in the undergraduate education actual condition survey, and the analysis of the learning achievement elements of the engineering certification program were analyzed and the development of teaching method was searched to find ways to increase the competence of female students. In addition, we developed a model that can apply the development of pedagogy in the curriculum to the liberal arts, majors, and comparative courses, and presented the internship in field experience area, the improvement of on the spot learning, and teaching method and guidance to enhance the female students' competence. Also, as a case study of the proposed teaching method, new curriculum of 'Understanding of Big Data' which is the basis of the fourth industrial revolution technology in the second semester of 2016 was developed and applied to the education model. The results of this study are very positive, and we can expect the effectiveness of the new education model to enhance the learning ability and capacity of female students.
With the emphasis on core competencies, the University of Seoul has exerted efforts to reflect the importance of core competencies in university curricula. The main assessment tool used in Korea is the Korea Collegiate Essential Skills Assessment (K-CESA), developed by the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET). This study examined whether core competencies measured using K-CESA are valid as a tool for assessing educational achievements among college students, and analyzed the correlation between K-CESA scores and course grades. The analysis was performed on approximately 204 engineering students at the University of Seoul. According to the correlation analysis between core competencies and courses, MSC courses were shown to be related to the resource and through information use competency and higher order thinking competency. Through the Analysis of Variance, students in the accreditation programs and students living in urban area showed higher competency scores. In the multiple regression, it was shown that Accreditation and MSC courses grades were the important variables to predict the competency of the students. Based on these findings, we confirmed that the K-CESA tool has a certain level of correlation with academic performance and that it functions as one of several ways to evaluate the program outcomes of engineering education accreditation.
The stress on finding a job is also increasing in a situation where the difficulty in finding a job is aggravating due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, the major satisfaction of college students was subdivided into subject satisfaction and relationship satisfaction, and the relationship between these and job-seeking stress was investigated. In addition, We tried to find out whether there is a difference in the influence relationship between these majors according to their current major, that is, whether they majored in a science, engineering major or a social science major. The population for the study was the students currently enrolled in the 4th grade, and the research sample was obtained from students of H and N universities in the metropolitan area. A total of 220 people were analyzed, 110 people from science and engineering and 110 from social sciences. For analysis, SPSS 24.0 and Process Macro 5.0 were used. The empirical analysis results are as follows. First, subject satisfaction had a negative (-) effect on job-seeking stress. Second, relationship satisfaction also had a significant negative (-) effect on job-seeking stress. Third, there was a significant difference between science, engineering students and social science students in the effect of subject satisfaction on job-seking stress. Fourth, in the effect of relationship satisfaction on job-seeking stress, there was also a significant difference between science, engineering students and social science students. Therefore, the higher the satisfaction with the major you are majoring in, the lower the job-seeking stress, and the extent of this decrease is social science students were larger than science, engineering students. It is necessary to be cautious in generalizing the results of this study, which was made in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the empirical analysis results, the academic and practical implications of this study are presented.
The purpose of this study was to provide analytic rubrics for measuring teamwork(PO6), communication and presentation skills(PO7), and life-long learning(PO8) based on theoretical concepts of performance assessment and rubrics. Also, this study analyzed data about performance assessment and rubics from courses offered through college of engineering. Participants were 34 senior engineering students who took the course 'Technical writing and presentation'. In the second week of the course, students were given the pre-test instrument which was developed for measuring students' understanding of program outcomes for this study. After performing project activities using rubrics, students were encouraged to complete the post-test instrument and the reaction questionnaire during the ninth week. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 14.0 and Microsoft Excel. The research findings are as follows. First, to promote and evaluate program learning outcomes appropriately, performance assessment-based on rubircs should be implemented. Second, in the reaction questionnaire about the rubircs, students answered that using rubircs for performing the project was very useful for understanding the performance procedures and assessment criteria. Third, the mean of understanding of program outcomes of students in post-test was significantly increased than in the pre-test(p<.0001). From the findings, performance assessment and rubrics should be used as evaluation tools at course levels in terms of promoting program learning outcomes for engineering education.

Nowadays, the concept of outdoor campus is different from the past. U-Campus with a well-developed high-speed computer network is no longer a constraint on the campus interior and exterior spaces. From this point of view, today's large-scale university outdoor spaces need to be changed from a simple green space. The university campus outdoor spaces need to be changed into a new concept space. This study analyzed the changes in academic activities and preferences of college students who are users of university campus outdoor spaces and it is aimed at space planning that reflects the preference. The university campus should be remodified through changes in students' behaviors. Participants in this study were four different departments students (Social science, Physical education, Natural science and Engineering). The preference results of 17 items were analyzed. As a result of this preference analysis, we found that there is a difference in preference among students belonging to four different departments students. In conclusion, this study will propose that the preferences of each college should be considered in planning the outdoor rest spaces of university campus.

As a case study, we analyzed the professor's teaching professionalism in college of science-engineering based on pedagogical content knowledge. Two professors from the college of science-engineering located in Chungcheongbuk-do participated in this study. After collecting their syllabi, we observed their classes and conducted semi-structured interview before and after the classes. Analysis were conducted on their syllabi, taped videos, field notes and transcripts of the interview. As a result, both professors' orientation to teaching was not only related to learning subject matter knowledge, but also developing job competencies or communication skills. Their orientations were transformed according to the educational situation. After establishing the final learning goals, the professors organized weekly plan by listing the topics. However, they were unaware that the goals of each topic should be presented in detail in the class. Also, one of them presented a lack of understanding of the students' prior knowledge and showed low understanding of what aspects of the topics make students difficult to learn. In addition, the two professors applied various teaching strategies such as giving examples, questioning, and problem solving, but the degree of students' participation was not enough in the process of teaching. In the aspect of assessment, the professors had low understanding in students' achievement or feedback. Based on the results of the analysis, this study proposed methods and strategies for improving the teaching professionalism of science-engineering professors.
