  • Universities in Korea are presenting various extracurricular activities for survival and growth. Although the goals of extracurricular activities are diverse, one of the most important is to improve the academic achievement of college students. In this study, we looked at the relationship between the cumulative score of extracurricular activities by difficulty level and academic achievement. As a result, first, even if students' basic academic skills were controlled, extracurricular activities had a positive effect on student achievement. This suggests that universities should provide extracurricular activities that are more diverse and tailored to the needs of students. Second, the participation rate of female students in extracurricular activities is similar to that of male students, but the performance is very high. Third, Senior students show high levels of participation and performance. This means that it is necessary to actively increase the participation rate of female students and lower grade students. To this end, not only publicity and compensation, but also active interest and participation of instructors will be required.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between academic achievement, major selection motivation, work value, and campus life adjustment of healthcare major college students. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire for 495 healthcare major college students at a four-year university located in G city. As a result of the study, Academic achievement was determined with positive correlation by major selection motivation (r=.446, p<.001), work values (r=.255, p<.001), campus life adjustment(r=.391, p<.001), Major selection motivation was positively correlated with work value (r=.354, p<.001) and campus life adjustment (r=.220, p<.001). The work value showed a positive correlation with the campus life adjustment(r=.193, p<.001). It is necessary to develop a career education program that reinforces college students' major selection motivation and their work values, and a student guidance program that improves their adaptation to college life.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine whether job-seeking stress, career decision-making self-efficacy, self-esteem, and academic achievement had an influence on nursing students' happiness. Methods: The participants were 147 nursing students in D city. Data were collected with a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 19.0 using ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Factors that had an influence on happiness included major satisfaction(highly unsatisfied ${\beta}=-.251$, p=.001), average monthly family income(between four and six million won ${\beta}=.222$, p=.002), career decision-making self-efficacy(${\beta}=.198$, p=.010), major satisfaction(satisfied ${\beta}=.196$, p=.006), and subjective health(unhealthy ${\beta}=-.167$, p=.020). These factors explained 33.5% of the variance in student happiness. Conclusion: The results of this study reveal that career decision-making self-efficacy, self-esteem, major satisfaction, and job-seeking stress were important intrinsic factors in the happiness of nursing students. Thus, it is necessary to help these students attain more self-efficacy, self-esteem, and major satisfaction rather than focusing on academic achievement in order to increase their happiness.

Social relationship orientation was higher than the others on the perception of college climate, while the relationship between professor and collegian was lower. 2. The most collegian recognized on the attribution of failure about the college life and the relationship between professor and collegian. But most collegian recognized on the attribution of sucess about collegian's relationship. 3. The perception of college climate and attribution of success / failure was not influenced on the student's academic performance and academic adaptability.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that have an effect on students, especially in the natural science track, would enter the college of Engineering. For this, the data of KEEP was used, and logistic regression was utilized for analyzing this data. The dependent variables are 'Entering the college of engineering' and 'No entering the college of engineering'. The probable independent variables are 'Sex', 'Interest in mathematics', 'mathematics study achievement', 'Interest in Science', 'Science study achievement', 'The area of book that is read', 'The area of club', 'Knowing about working environment and task of the job' and 'Knowing about prospect and wage of the job'. The results are as follows. These are 'Sex', 'Knowing about working environment and task of the job', 'Knowing about prospect and wage of the job' that affect statistically entering the college of engineering. In other words, the male student who know working environment, task, prospect and wage of the job well may enter the college of Engineering.

  • Purpose: The current study is a descriptive survey study conducted in order to investigate degree and properties of learned helplessness and lethargic behaviors in students of the college of nursing. Methods: A total of 332 nursing students were enrolled and responded for data collection from October $1^{st}$ through October $20^{th}$, 2013. Frequency, percentile, means and standard deviations of collected data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The mean score of learned helplessness in nursing students was 2.46, which was statistically significant in relation to friendship (F=13.45, p<.001) and academic achievement (F=3.67, p<.013). On the other hand, the average score of lethargic behaviors was 2.52 and it showed significant association with grade (F=6.49, p<.001), current residence (F=3.26, p<.022), friendship (F=4.81, p<.009), and academic achievement (F=5.34, p<.001), indicating a positive association between these variables. Conclusion: Based on the study results herein, effective counseling, as well as continuous attention to students by school, and professors are needed in order to alleviate sense of learned helplessness, which is a psychological variables often shown in nursing patients. Further, additional studies with regards to various variables impacting the nursing student might be warranted.

Results: The scores of the student peer (178.54) and student self-evaluation(177.74) was significantly higher than the scores of professor-evaluation (172.05),(F=5.03, p=.008). There was a significant, positive correlation between the professor-evaluation and the student-peer-evaluation in skill-scores(r=.47, p=.002) and attitude-scores(r=.52, p<.001). In addition, the professor-evaluation and the self-evaluation each showed a significant, positive correlation in skill-scores(r=.61, p<.001) and attitude-scores(r=.36, p=.023). Conclusion: The study result indicates that in order to expand the evaluation method, the professor evaluation, as well as the student self and the peer evaluation, will contribute to improve the educational achievement of learners.

  • This study examined the relationship of academic failure tolerance, academic self-efficacy and academic achievement of nursing students. The data was obtained from August 27 to September 17. The participants were 198 students in a university in D city. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression. A positive correlation was observed between all the variables. The factor that significantly affected academic achievement was academic self-efficacy, which explained 7.5% of the variances. The subdomain of the academic failure tolerance affecting academic achievement was found to be the behavior, which explained 8.0% of variances. The subdomains of academic self-efficacy affecting the academic achievement was the self-regulatory efficacy. This factor explained 15.4% of the variances. This study suggests that it is necessary to enhance the academic failure tolerance and academic self-efficacy for the learning achievement and working performance of nursing students.

  • In the information society, the ability of learners to use computers to conduct self-directed learning is important. Indeed, the higher the computer's ability to use computers, the more the academic achievement needs to be analyzed. The purpose of this study was to identify longitudinal trajectories of student awareness of ICT literacy and frequency of computer use. We also examined the effects of the longitudinal patterns on academic achievement and college major choice. A non-parametric approach, K-means for longitudinal data(KML) algorithm, was conducted using 9-year longitudinal data from Seoul Education Longitudinal Study (2010-2018). Findings indicated that a pattern presenting a higher awareness of ICT literacy and frequency of computer use showed better academic achievements and was likely to prefer to choose engineering-related majors.
